Due to health reasons I'm probably not going to be up doing much this year, sadly.  I've got to go for eye surgery that's not of the optional kind at some point in the next several weeks.  I think it's going to be a quiet one for me this year.  I really love Halloween as well  I miss the Halloween fancy dress goth nights, which I made costumes for a few times several years ago.

Be well man! Take it easy.

I decided I'm gonna try and dress up as captain Nemo. I guess it shouldn't be too hard to buy a captain's hat and a suit and modify them with the Nautilus insignia. Gonna serve as a nice break from my studies.

Thanks, much appreciated.  Even if I'm not recovering from the surgery then, I'm going to be mentally prepping for it.  I might at most celebrate by wearing something inspired by Susan Sto Helit, Lestat, or Alucard, depending on my mood that day.  The test for the condition I'm at risk of (which the surgery is to try and prevent) was bad enough to leave me shunning light for three days like a vampire, and generally feeling headachy.

I will be doing my annual movie marathon with a few friends.

This year's will be much more musical than past marathons, and who does better horror musicals than Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrence Zdunich?

Ergo, the lineup!

How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Don't let the bastards grind you down Shiroi. Eventually there's light at the end.

Thanks! I'm tackling things one day at a time.

I really need to get into some horror games this month. I have Outlast, the Penumbra Collection, and Amnesia all just sitting here, and I need to finally get started on at least one of them.

My wife also wants me to dress up for a Halloween party at her workplace, but I have no friggin' clue what I want to do this year. I'm too lazy to make a costume, and it's no fun to just go and buy one. I don't know...maybe Jesse Custer would be easy to pull off? But then I'd have to shave my beard.  :(
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

Hang in there!
Same to all of us having a rough time of it this year. Try to keep your haunting spirits up.

---------
Watched a few more movies for my horrorthon-

Chopping Mall - Surprisingly charming killer-robots-on-the-loose movie from the golden age of VHS rentals. It has a few great lines like "I'm sorry. It's not you, Ferdy. I guess I'm just not used to running around a shopping mall in the middle of the night being chased by killer robots."

The Unholy - Completely forgettable demon/possession film. Pretty slow, a few nice and some laughably goofy practical effects are all to recommend it.

Slaughter High AKA April Fool's Day - An interesting if unsuccessful attempt at a slasher film. Some unique kills and halfway nonsensical ending if you're into that sort of thing.

Ghoulies Go to College AKA Ghoulies 3 - It's not bad for a low budget monster comedy, but it's no Ghoulies 2.

Wise words, Ratty, and second your opinion that we need to hang in there and keep our spirits up as much as we can.  I also send hugs your way, Shiroi!  You can get through this!  I'm here for you if you want to chat.  I might not have been posting much at all, but I have been lurking.

So I helped co-direct a Halloween horror-tribute album called DANSE MACABRE 5. It's been happening every year for the past 5 years and I was lucky enough to help with it this year. Might be why it's the largest compilation yet, but I digress.....

It's completely free and any donations go to charity. Perfect mix of arrangements and covers of horror and suspense movie and game music, including some badass Castlevania pieces.

One of the songs off the album done by Stemage of Metroid Metal.

I've been watching a lot of Cinemassacre's Monster Madness. My favorite review James Rolfe did was of Sleepy Hollow.

Religion is Man's flawed interpretation of Spirituality given back to humanity..."

Man I'll never catch up to you lol. I just don't have the attention span to sit through a whole movie anymore. Tried to get through "The Babadook", found it too boring, tried "Donnie Darko", found it pretentious and boring. I did watch a few in the last week though-

Isle of the Snake People - There were no snake people, a more accurate title would have been "Isle of the elderly Boris Karloff, cannibal women, bellydancing and some Voodoo zombies we guess." It's creepy in all the wrong ways (live chicken sacrifice, guy keeping a mindless zombie as a girlfriend) but it's one of Boris Karloff's last films and though he's not in it much he smanages to still be captivating, worth watching for him alone. Or at least fast forwarding to his scenes.

I Walked With a Zombie - Another voodoo zombie film and a Val Lewton classic, I enjoyed it more than I did when I initially saw it many years ago. Mostly because I know enough about Voodoo now, and wasn't always just waiting to see a zombie.

The Body Snatcher - A Val Lewton/Boris Karloff classic (with glorified cameo from Bela Lugosi) can't take your eyes off Karloff in this one, which he plays with cordial menace. Great cinematography, sets and costumes for 1830s Edinburgh. Only handicapped by most of the cast having the wrong accents.

So I helped co-direct a Halloween horror-tribute album called DANSE MACABRE 5.

Glad to see a Claudio Simonetti track on there. Ya can't say "horror movie music" without Simonetti, heh.

Last year I got the limited soundtrack tin for Demons and it stacks up pretty nicely against the Blu-ray steelbooks.
