Title: Nightkeep (2D indie platformer)
Post by: Nightale on June 10, 2016, 11:53:44 AM
i d like to share my spare-time project here. I am inspired by castlevania a lot but I am creating my own lore. Someone might like it, or maybe not. Its not so good after all I am quite amateur programmer, mere hobbyist. Neither I am great animator or so but i m somewhat trying to do it decent at least.

damn man that looks really good! I really like the art style. Did you make all of it yourself? Keep it up!

Thanks. Yes, I am creating pixelart myself. I studied castlevania and demon's crest art several times, it helps me to achieve/improve my direction.

Haha, thanks. I wish it would be the reality  :o. But I will be happy if I manage to finish it at all.

Well it looks like you have quite a bit done already, and that's good. Don't give up now  :)

Is this playable yet?  I want it.
Also, I fixed your Youtube Link so that it loads on the thread.

thanks for fixing the link. Haha your faith in the project pleases me, tho I think its not so good as I tend to create things in very easy way. I think I may release some test-play room within two weeks, I will drop by here as well.

Hello, here's my Lamevania game which I have been working since 2015. I dont think its a good game but I love to create my world.

to download click orange button with "STÁHNOUT SOUBOR" , this is czech file sharing site. and then in the down right corner "STÁHNOUT POMALU".

I found out that music in build is a bit broken, if you die it does not reset the track, so two overlap and it damages ears. :) I dont intend to fix this issue within  this alpha testplay, just informing you about this.

Gave your game a shot. Took me several lives to figure out how to attack as that was not mentioned in the controls briefing, lol. Sadly I couldn't get anywhere past the starting room. I assume that was intentional?

It's only alpha tech-demo, nothing else, it contains 1 test room with few enemies (should have state that at the post above). Menu, equip, other weapons and some relics were disabled in this testplay. Weird I thought controls were described at the start of the test. Any feedback @the testplay?

It mentions moving and dodging but not attack and jump

fairly solid controls. I had no real issues playing. I noticed that the jump is measured by how much or little you press the jump command. It's not a bad thing mind you. In fact it could help with administrating strategy within the game itself.

releasing tech demo, but it has some issues which should be changed. Anyway I think no one will finish it, so.

Im not sure exactly what I did lol. But in the starting room. I went to the left and it went back to the start screen. When I hit enter again I was in the game again but in a different room. I explored til I got some pink ghost boss and he killed me. Then it seemed like I got stuck in a loading loop. It said loading please wait and I could see the character in the top left corner and itd just do that over and over. Fade in... loading... char in top corner... repeat. I had to close it with task manager
