Title: Trivia
Post by: EstebanT on December 15, 2013, 08:57:37 PM
Inspired by the Food post in "Off Topic" by Shiroi Koumori

I would like to make a Castlevania Trivia topic, I will start with a Castlevania Trivia Question and the first person read it answers it then asks another one for the next person to answer... (Its more fun if you don't look it up. You lose nothing by getting it wrong.) Lets test our Castlevania knowledge!

First question,

In Aria of sorrow, Julius mode has all of of simons original 5 Subweapons except stopwatch and....?
(I know... easy)

The Bear Ring. If I recall, it's a drop from an enemy that only appears in one room. That room is hidden. From the room in the opening scene, drop down the pit. About halfway down, the wall is breakable. Once in that room, there is a portion of the ceiling that is breakable and leads to the room where the enemy is. FYI, the enemy is very fast and will suicide into the wall if you aren't fast enough.

The ring causes the combination of the Pluto and Black Dog cards to turn you into a bear instead of a skeleton.

In Classicvanias, how many times can the whip be powered up?

You're thinking of the souls needed to access the secret area, I'm talking about the souls you have to equip when you're going to fight Graham. I'm giving you another shot at this.

Yes, what do they have in common?

How can one enhance the aroma of their soup?
With laurels, I believe.

Anyway, while my question is yet to be correctly answered, I might as well keep on trucking. Simon Belmont and Albus share one thing in common, what is it?
Title: Re: Trivia
Post by: Claimh Solais on December 20, 2013, 11:16:52 PM
Yes, what do they have in common?

They're Dracula's basic powers, aren't they? With Giant Bat obviously being batform (and Dracula's second form supposedly being a bat), Flame Demon being his attacks (Hellfire, and I guess Dark Inferno?), and Succubus being his blood-drinkingness (since the soul restores health).

Simon Belmont and Albus share one thing in common, what is it?

Both are voiced in English by Keith Silverstein. The former in Judgment, the latter in OoE. Coincidentally, both these games feature Shanoa as a playable character.

In Akumajou Dracula X68000, you can find a picture of Simon smoking a blunt, and there are Japanese characters written next to him. What do these say?

The funny thing is that it ended spelled wrong as "Marsil" haha

Glamdring (Gandalf's sword that he found from the troll cave in the Hobbit) is not Marsil (that was misspelled from Narsil, which was King Elendil's sword). So try again~

For your question, if I am not mistaken it kinda looks like angel/cherub thing.

He~ Thanks for being understanding. It is the Dark Blade "Sword forged by the elves".

As for the question, yes it is an angel, but not any angel. It's Michael, the same exact one as Saint Michael Archangel statue on the top of Saint Angelo castle in Rome. Explains well how Alucard makes his blade go all firebrand like that xD Image for reference. Since when did we have "Sagittarians" in Castlevania? The only centaur I can think of is Eligor.

I don't know the enemy's name but it looks like a small clown creature and he has only one item to drop. But trying to find him is like finding a needle in a haystack. I've only come across that thing once out of all my playthroughs.

Eh, I wouldn't consider myself "lucky" if I spent my time dropping rare items...

Okay so... I figured that I would phrase my questions in a more "puzzling" manner, since you can simply find every answer on the internet (I refer not specifically to Castlevania, but everything, like "luck Sagittarians"). I though it would be more interesting.

The answer would be anything including the "Lapis Lazuli", since it is a lucky stone for Sagittarians. Like "Because they always have a Lapis Lazuli equipped" for instance. The Lapis Lazuli is a luck stone for the Sagittarians, as this link (http://www.crystalvaults.com/sagittarius-crystals) and this one (http://www.all-gem-stones.com/choice/sagittarius.html) say, and it increases Luck in SotN (and other games too). My bad if it turned to not work xD

Dropping a rare item on Castlevania is affected by Luck rate, so yeah...

Just an addendum, I know the horoscope is pretty much bollocks, and that many places claim differently about the luck stone. All it mattered is that I mentioned one of the signs that included the Lapis Lazuli for it to work out, since it is the only "luck related" item in Castlevania that's also associated with luck on the horoscope.

Okay, I assume we need a new question?

Who is Death's English voice actor in Castlevania: Judgment?

(Hint: It is not Travis Willingham, despite my earlier claims it was, and what the web says. I have reviewed the voice clips closely and found out he is a different actor.)

(Second hint: This actor voices another character in the game.)

Yeah, I feel like I threw out a somewhat unfair question, lol. I can recognize voices VERY well (so much that people have contemplated why I don't have a job in doing that stuff), so I can figure it out real well.

If there's no answer by tomorrow, I'll just throw out the answer and we'll move on, lol.

EDIT: Okay, no answer. Kirk Thornton (Grant) was the voice of Death. New question! Which Konami teamed developed Legends?

Isn't that Drolta the evil witch who resurrected Dracula at that time?

Yes it "is".

The main problem with this question is that there is no consensus if that is Drolta or Dracula. I believe it is Drolta, but she's not shown with a staff on her artwork, nor is mentioned anywhere else besides the manual.

Quote
Who is the voice actor of Soma in Harmony of Despair? (Hint: This actor is also one of three actors that played a specific character in BlazBlue)

Is that Grant George?

Question:

"Demonic Meggido" would have been called another thing if the writers sticked with the mistranslation of the original word, instead of using the correct one like they did. What would it be?

Hint: I'm not talking about game localizations or translations. I'm talking about a real world mistranslation.

This is an acceptable answer. I've read online in several places that he is Erik Davies (one of three actors that voiced Hazama in BlazBlue), but he sounds a LOT like Grant George, too.

No prob, I'm giving out the answer now, since it's been so long, and to not hold the topic hostage:

The mistranslation would be Demonic Armageddon. Armageddon is a mistranslated word from Har Meggido, which means something like "The Hill of Meggido" where the supposed final battle of good and evil will take place on the end of times.

I agree! I think that a good time would be in 3 days. Sometimes I have this really nice piece of trivia in mind, but can't post it without answering...

So, about your question, this is one of the things that kept me playing SotN while cracking my head on why the hell Paranthropus  was not dropping a Ring of Varda. The answer is Turquoise.

My question is:

Owl knight. Which enemy is more powerful... the white or the black fomor?

About the answer, you now got me real confused. I remember another enemy being able to talk, and now that I think about it, Owl Knight can speak... Or can't he? I mean, what the hell is he saying when he sends the Owl against you? The enemy I meant was Frozen Half.

And the answer is White Fomor.

I'll leave the next question for someone else.

I don't think this is the correct answer as EstebanT's question can be interpreted in a variety of ways.

The correct literal answer to his question would be "Every single Belmont, including wives, brothers, and those who never got hold of the Vampire Killer".

I think he meant "canon" Belmonts who are playable, and got to the end of the game, and in this case Marie Belmont, Zoe Belmont, Delores Belmont, Soleiyu Belmont, Sonia's grandfather do not count, since some are not canon, others are supporting characters and one is a boss. That's also why I kept Reinhardt questionable.

Does he yell "Yagana?" If so he is saying "I'll find a different approach." I think at least.

How many?

All, from both 2D and 3D Castlevanias.

I don't think anyone could name all of the Castlevania bosses that heal themselves, there's just too many, so I'll just name a few.

The Wallman in Order of Ecclesia always have an unlimited supply of Super Potions to negate the amount of damage he takes. The only way to defeat him is by sucking up his glyph.

Dracula's Soul Steal attack in Order of Ecclesia can count as well.

That's all I can think of.

Anyway, question.

Which card combination in Circle of the Moon can turn you into a Skeleton?
