@SabinFigaro
Thanks so much for your support! We 100% understand how Wallachia could seem like a step backwards after the large game that was LC2, even though it's a much more refined game.
There are good reasons why we decided to make an arcade style game this time. Firstly, we were burnt out on the Metroidvania genre after the marathon of work LC2 was. Secondly, we felt more comfortable with taking on an arcade style game for our first commerical release because we wanted to focus on polishing the game. We felt more confident we could deliver a quality game in the arcade genre. Thirdly, being a game about Dracula, we decided that we wanted to make Wallachia more of its own thing rather than make a full on Castlevania clone, so we took the opportunity to get inspired by some of our other favorite games and not just Castlevania.
It's definitely not lost on us that we are known for making CV fan games, and we just made a game about Dracula that plays more like Shinobi than Castlevania. We understand there will be confusion for some players.
But your support helps our next game. If an LC2 port on console is what you were wanting, just know that we are working on a new Metroidvania game that will be better than an LC2 port, and it's called Chronicles of the Wolf.
Thanks again and hopefully Wallachia will grow on you over time. We had a lot of fun making the game and we learned a lot!
