I'm not making a sprite, but I wouldn't be opposed to the deadline being extended.  At least with the December contest, since we're doing foods (theoretically smaller and more simple), I wouldn't expect it to matter if the judges of the Nov. contest lose a day or three from their design time.

Well...I'm not someone who is making something for this one...but the first thought that comes to mind is extending the entry deadline to Nov. 30th or Dec. 1st, giving participants 3 or 4 more days.  Obviously, whoever is still working could give a better idea (Drac9, Zero [I think], ...anyone else?), though I guess we still gotta be somewhat limited in the spirit of competition or something!

Well, as I mentioned, I'll likely finish mine on time, as I (thankfully) have the next four days off. But I don't know what ZSG's entry is or how long it has taken/will take for him to finish, to say nothing of any other potential entries.

I've been cooking something up, started on Friday. It's not as grand as previous submissions so it shouldn't take too much time.
Having the extra weekend might come in handy though but I'll keep you posted as to whether I'll need it or not.

If we do extend it, it should be no longer than a week at the most.

One of the prerequisites of the contest is the deadline, I believe extending it hurts the iniquity of the contest.

The deadline forces the participants to become quicker spriter's and gain valuable experience (if they haven't had it before) working under pressure and a time frame.

I think it's not only great to have fun participating in these contest but I also think it's more valuable for artists to improve upon their actual skills be it, design, speed, whatever etc..I have already noticed novice artist since the last contest make great gains when it comes to the quality of their work.

Being able to sprite quickly under given guidelines is very important and shouldn't be taken lightly.

With that mentioned others may disagree with me and that is fine. If, you guys want an extension and vote for it, then I guess majority will win.

I am just pointing this out, just my opinion by no means is it gospel.

Honestly, I'm fine either way. My consideration of the extension lies more in concern for other entrants.

Ultimately, I'll stick with whatever's decided.

Under any other circumstance I wouldn't agree, but this was such a monumental theme and so few entered that I think it it warrants it this time.

I'd second all that was said.  Every contest can't just be cavalier about deadlines every time, but an occasional grant shouldn't hurt too much.  Again, I may not be a participant, but I'd be fine either way.
