:-S I don't know if I can remember them all! :-S

It would more likely be a later incarnation of one...jumping gears on the NES just sucked!  I don't want to just pick the one in the 64 games (my favorites), but that version of the tower is the one I best remember.  I'm sure it was in some of the handheld titles, but I really don't remember them...SotN wasn't really that impressive IMO...I guess I gotta go with what I remember, the Clock Tower in the N64 titles!

For atmosphere the N64 clock Tower theme is  a good one. But a more action-based theme I would pick the one used in CotM which is derived from CV III's clock tower theme:

castlevania circle of the moon Ost-Clockwork

Religion is Man's flawed interpretation of Spirituality given back to humanity..."

Visually, I have to play the devil's advocate here and say LoS has my favorite clocktower. Or the Alternate Clock Tower from HoD.

Play-wise, I think it'd be either SCVIV or HoD. Aria would be the first if not for those two.

Music-wise, I have to shout out to SCVIV again for having probably my favorite incarnation of Bloody Tears. CotM/CVIII get honorable mentions for Clockwork. And definitely HoD. That whistle tune is eerie.

I never loved any of the clock tower stages because I am bound to die at least once every time I enter. Hahaha.

The main reason why I loved the clock tower stages is due to all the eye candy one is treated with that is not present in other stages. CV III had the best clock tower in the entire NES trilogy as everything was static in the first game, and CV II had no clock tower to be found at all  :'(

AoS' Clock Tower got me the first time I played it. That superb design, the fantastic tune, and one of the best Death battles of the series.

PoR has best

*is shot*

No, but in all seriousness, I liked Rondo's clock tower the best. It's chiling tune and stunning visuals are what I love about it.

Legacy of Darkness and CV3 have the best atmosphere I think. For 2D it's probably CotM.

I agree. It's also a bit more challenging than the other ones that I've played through. Dodging those tricky skulls in the harder mode is really maddening.

Castlevania 1 has my favorite Clocktower to this day, although Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance are close seconds.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.
