Title: April 2015 Castlevania Dungeon Sprite Contest

Duration: From now until April 30th
Deadline for submissions: April 28th (11:59 PM PST)
Judgement: by tribunal and popular vote from April 28th to April 30th at midnight and Winners announced on the morning of May 1st

Volunteer Judges: Belmontoya, Kokushibyō

Theme: Take a monster, demon, or deity from any lore, and sprite it.
Prizes: Award medals for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

Guidelines for Participants:
-Provide your sprite in 1x and 2x zoom at least if your sprite is small. (High resolutions sprites need not have a 2x version)
-The chosen creature cannot be in the series already
-Contestants may update their entries freely before the submission deadline.
-You may withdraw any entry at any time before the judgement begins.

Important info: Due to some controversy regarding the use of sprites from other members from our contest be sure to mention from now on if you want your final entry to be open-sourced or not. Meaning other members can or cannot use your sprites for their projects! (Just so we are clear.)

Guidelines for Judges:
-Judgement will use a point system.
-4 points awarded for your first place choice.
-2 points awarded for your second place choice.
-1 point for your third place choice.
-When posting your scores write up an explanation/critique of your judgement.
-Additional rounds of judgement will be used for tie breakers.
-Judges cannot participate in the contest.
-There will be a poll to vote for the most popular sprite and this popular vote would serve as an extra judge.

Ancient creature looks like a sheep so people can be confused, have sharp nails and devours people, the only way to survive its to climb a sacred tree (palm tree)

Im not good too but this can help you to test your skills, make one, dosnt matter if looks bad just try, im not good with creatures too (you can remember the Dracula I make it was simple).

This creature isnt bad but isnt good, have a face of a Guanaco, body of an ostrich and the tail is a snake.
 Im bad in english so I will leave this in spanish, its the info of this creature:
 Personaje fabuloso que puede hacer tanto el bien como el mal. Tiene cuello y cabeza de guanaco, cuerpo de avestruz y cola de serpiente. Sus malos sentimientos se manifiestan cuando destruye las cosechas y se afana por prolongar la sequía. Para conseguir esto se traba en encarnizada lucha con Puyuspa, el nublado, su eterno enemigo. Recorre las llanuras absorbiendo la humedad de plantas y secando la garganta de los animales, que mugen lastimeramente.

Damn Jop those are some crazy ideas..very nice touch!. The first sorat reminds me of a chubacabra from your description though the picture doesnt seem to give off its' scaly presence. Still good for folklore,or truth either way. With some of the stories on some of these shows on tv it's hard to know what is real and waht is fake.

I've been wanting to...but I don't really know much mythology outside of CV.  I did search a little, but I never sat down to do anything. :-/  It was a bit crazy this month.  Next month is looking better I think.

Kasa-obake (Ghost Umbrella)
A mythical ghost or yōkai in Japanese folklore. They are generally umbrellas with one eye and jump around with one leg.

NIce, I like how its looks boths but i have a complain, not try to say anything bad but Thunderbird is a Card monster that appear in Circle of the Moon and you can summon the creature so its in a Castlevania, thats count?

1st. place: Donvermicelli's Thunderbird
   I really like this one. I can see each feather, talon, and other details. I only have
a few problems. 1. The shading bounces around in some places. This can be fixed by using a frontal light sorce (and not pillow shading). 2. Lack of depth. Related to the shading problems. Can be fixed by adding more contrast, and having one more shad which basically acts as a defining color, not on outline or shading color, but used to define certain details (should be darkest color in ramp). Other than that, i really like this one. It stood out to me.

2nd. place: Shiroi's Kasa-obake
   Only second because of how small it was. I feel like this one had alot of potential, because of the kind of creature it was. The colors are good, amd the shading (?) is just sodt enough. Other than that, not much I can really say on this.

3rd. place: Jop's Tanga Tanga
   Damn, was this a tough choice to make. The creature itself is really cool, and the way you sprited it was even cooler. The thing that put me off, though, was the blending colors. All the colors kinda mesh together. But you are getting better with your depth! Keep up the good work.

Not sure which one I prefer more of Jop's. But Aho Aho looks more menacing.

2nd place goes to Donvermicelli's Thunderbird.

This is good work but the form is a little strange.

3rd place goes to Shiroi's Kasa Obake

Nice classic looking sprite. I would have liked to see something larger with more detail.
