Originally released march 20th 1996 in Japan, and still as fun as the day it dropped!

Can't believe SotN and PS1's 20+ years old now...

In 5 years time, we will be celebrating the last game with a Belmont as a main protagonist.

Happy 20th birthday, Symphony of the Night!  Long may you reign.  I adore this game as much now as I ever have, the game which was my introduction to the series.

It's been a while, yet at the same time it doesn't feel all that long ago... *sigh*  :-\

Time to play it on my Xbox 360 (the one non-Sega system I've never beaten it on).

I just wanna say that high resolution filter the Xbox 360 version uses makes the game look as good to my modern graphical sensibilities today as it looked to us 20 years ago. It's really something.

That's what I call going above and beyond.

Well at least it isn't Woody, I guess?

Also wow, happy 20th Symphony.  One more year and you'd be able to drink in most states.  Although, you can already drink in the Canadian provinces and territories.

Whooohooo! Time to celebrate and remind ourselves that we're not getting any younger.

SOTN's aged so well. I've become quite the Metroidvania addict over the two decades it's been out, yet I always come back to this one. And always from a fresh save file. Maybe I'm nostalgic for my teenage years. Or I'm trying in vain to relive the magic of playing it for the first time.

Or maybe it's just that good.

Happy 20th, SOTN. Here's to 20 more.

The blurred explosion effects kill me.

As it turns out, happy 16th Birthday to Circle of the Moon! Also one of the best Metroidvanias in the series and a personal favorite.

My personal fav too. At 16 years?! I knew it came out shortly after SotN but I didn't think it was that soon.

Happy birthday you magnificent bastard.

The fact that it still holds up to this day speaks for itself.

It does hold up indeed.  I feel like I'm taking a tour through Castle Dracula at my own leisurely pace in this game.  I should go again sometime soon.  Maybe I'll send postcards :P

Also Alucard's animations are great.  That walk cycle is so graceful and smooth.

Wow this is a coincidence, I had no clue but I released my hack here on that same day.

The hack's new story serves as a fanmade sequel to SOTN with Richter,Shaft,Dracula,Alucard, and Maria returning, had I known this I would have given a Happy birthday shoutout to SOTN when I released it lol.
