Also slowly playing through FF XIII for the first time. I love the menu design and can appreciate the infinite hallway gameplay but can’t really get into the characters.

Hang in there, they do get decent development. it's one of the reasons I liked XIII a lot.

Playing Tales of Berseria. I only bought it yesterday and I might be halfway through it. Talk about power-playing! It's the first of the series I've tried though I might have checked out Tales of Phantasia on my SNES emulator. Can't remember it's been a while now  :-\

Good lord. Finally put down Nioh after 5 solid months of play. It got a bit too grindy trying to boost my gear for the DLC boss levels on Way of the Nioh difficulty. But the Abyss was fun...at a certain point the game really forces you to become efficient with the bosses, instead of relying on living weapon or just getting lucky. Fantastic game. Money well spent, to say the least.

Playing Curse of the Moon now. I was planning on getting all the trophies, but I really don't feel like going for the Boss Rush or un-powered solo Zangetsu trophies. Besides, it's way more fun with all 4 characters.

Might play Wind Waker HD next. I've really been wanting to dust off the Wii U, and I never did get far into the original WW. Got past the first dungeon and sort of forgot about the game after that.  :-\

Touhou Rock Maiden FC.
Never imagine there's still a good origin-faithful NES-era retrospect work, in 2018. I beat the game before Curse of The Moon launched, but eventually went through the final stages again because they are all great nostalgia sections; the overall difficulty is easier than most classic Mega Man games because they decided to make the charged buster shot similar to Mega Man 5, 6 and X series. And they got rid of punishment factors from their earlier works as much as possible in order to bring better first experience to players - to the point that I actually enjoy it as much as I enjoy Mega Man 2 and 3. It's almost like it's intended to be released on the real NES!

Dayum, the previous Touhou Rock Maiden titles were hazards and never run in right frame rate on my laptop

BOTW Master Sword DLC, on final trials. It really does make use of the environment, I'll give it that. Do I love it? No, but it's reasonably creative. Although I wish they made it like a mini-open-world rather than constraining it to hubs all the time.

I still have to find the remaining 6 shrines which hopefully happens sooner than later. I really want to 100% the shrines and then move onto Axiom Verge.

Could be worse, They could do like Fallout 4 where you have means to repair and upkeep weapons, but it does away with the entire breakable weapon mechanic.

Don't you mean Fallout 3 and New Vegas? Fallout 4 doesn't have weapons repairing, just upgrading. BotW could have used a weapons repairing mechanic actually now that I think about it. All I'd have to do with a sword that's about to break is go to town and see a smithy.

Just finished Resident Evil 7. Man, that was a great return to form for the series. I'll probably jump into the DLC next. Aside from forcing you to choose between two options before the final act of the game, I really enjoyed this one. It had some genuine WTF moments that unquestionably put the series back into survival horror territory again.

Guacamelee. What are your opinions on this fun Metroidvania game recently re-released for the Switch and how long do you think it will be before that Pancake guy writes a fanfic where he corrupts the girl with the mummy costume?

Bought and finished Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Though it seems more of the same I found myself liking this one better then Rise of the Tomb Raider. I also got a hold of Assassin's Creed: Odyssey and I'm still playing through it. There are things I like about it over Origins and there are things about Origins that seem to work better then Odyssey. Origins also didn't have as many noticeable bugs though. Kinda makes me wonder where Obi soft went awry in the programming.

Love Guac--the graphics, mood, music. I might have to do a VGM cover of it someday, it is really one of my fav new games.

I just went through Guac 2 as well, and I love the enhanced chicken moves. Although in all honesty, I felt that they really ramped up the difficulty relative to the first one in some ways, such that if you aren't familiar with the mechanics already of Guac 1, you are gonna be challenged with some of the maneuvers you have to pull off , even early in the game.

With that being said, I got 100% of the trophies , but I love doing that in Metroidvania games, no matter how tough they are.

Probably the only metroidvania I haven't managed to 100% these days without any online help was Axiom Verge, and I still play that a bit, too. I will keep trying to find 100% on my own just because it's so rare for a metroidvania to stump me like that. Daughter loves watching that one, too.

Also been doing a bit of Dragonball Fighterz and Bloodstained: COTM . Trying to cram in as much gaming as possible, cuz in another few months, another baby is due, and I can kiss fun goodbye for a while. Unless I can somehow get a Switch before then so I can have something to do in bed late at nights while dealing with the crying and feeding cycles.
