Title: I really have to ask: how many Bloodstained games do you think there'll be?
Post by: Lumi Kløvstad on August 03, 2018, 03:19:33 AM: I want to be super-hyper-ultra-optimistic and say we'll get the same length and number of titles as Castlevania did. That it will be a true successor. But I think we're past the age of 30+ year video game franchises. The conditions that allowed for and encouraged that volume of new projects just plain don't exist anymore, and due to the way things have changed over the years, probably won't ever again.

It makes me really sad to think of that.

But I hope we at least can get a proper trilogy. The super-optimist in me hopes for at least 5 games, but that might be pushing it too far.

What do you guys think?

Post by: affinity on August 03, 2018, 08:42:58 AM: the thing is, IGA expressed the thought that he only is making Bloodstained the genre it is because the fans requested it, but he seems like he wants to move on to create other types of games.

yea there can be others that can carry the Bloodstained torch, but I dunno, while Bloodstained ROTN can be epic and even surpass all the Castlevanias to some people, its not the perfect genre to everyone.

but if they make Bloodstained a ongoing IGAvania series, that could be cool and would get the next one if its to my liking.

the genre really still is uncommon, so like battle royale games, more games can result in new masterpieces that improve the genre.

Post by: Darkmoon on August 11, 2018, 09:07:00 AM: It really does come down to money in the end, not just how much they made on Kickstarter but how much the games (counting Curse) make upon release. If the titles sell well it's a no-brainer that someone will come along and continue the franchise. It's not hard to imaging 505 Games and/or Inti-Creates going "hey, you know, this made a lot of money. Let's have us a sequel" whether or not IGA is involved. He could simply attach his name, give his blessing, and move on to other projects and I'm sure the game companies would continue to crank out Bloodstained titles until the franchise completely died.

And I'm not saying IGA has to be involved for them to be good. Plenty of good Castlevania games were made without IGA, so the same could happen here if everyone involved was on board with it.

So the answer is really two... or tons.
