I'm not a fan of LoS, but I have no problem with the Combat Cross look.

I don't mind it as much either since rather than lifing the Combat Cross design verbatim it's more like making nods to it.

By the way, is it still David Vincent as Richter?

It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.
^^
You are now reading this in Robert Belgrade's voice.

Then Lords of Shadow 2 just takes a big, semi-solid, smelly, pea-green dump all over everything.

For anyone that wants a better look at the New Vampire killer,

Here

The design to me looks like a mix of Gabriel and Victor Combat Cross.

Have to say I'm loving every second of it. Ohhhhh man, ohhhh The Love...

Though if you look the handle is combat cross but the tip is spiked ball. So, it that a mix of both? I didn't think combat cross had the spike ball

If those miserable bastards actually allow Simon to be in the roster, I'll buy a switch too.
And I literally have zero interest in Smash.
Nor would I buy a copy of Smash.
Ok, I was gonna get a Switch anyway. ;P

I didn't think it would happen, but I can't not get a copy of the only game that exists with Mario, Link, Samus, Megaman, Pac-man, Sonic and Simon Belmont officially in it. Now all it needs is a platformer mode like one of the earlier smash games and Nintendo will have made an official version of Super Mario Crossover.

It's odd how they're retconning the combat cross design into the regular canon. That pachinko game starring Richter did it too but I thought that was just Konami recycling assets.

Just looks like they just added a cross guard to me.
The way they use the Vampire Killer in the actual game play is definitely not like the Combat Cross either.
Just a nod, I guess.
Can't even say the spike on the pommel is a reference since the original Vampire Killer design has been officially depicted with it in various illustrations.

Fuck me, do I want a new CV game that looks like the CG footage! Classic looking Belmont, classic looking monsters, spooky "haunted castle" aesthetic that nods to classic Horror movies (like Universal and Hammer). Hell, the depiction of "CV" in that trailer, I love it more than all three LoS games combined!

Man this blew my mind, I have to get this NOW. And I see that the combat cross is here to stay.

And did anyone else notice that Richter is doing the same pose he did in art work for Rondo of blood.

It seem that Konami, have seen that if they want to be seen as a decent up standing company again. They gotta put the effort in.

The Richter peace sign is also back from Rondo. Its beautiful.

How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Yes, he's back as Richter. He was already voicing Male Robin, so it only makes sense he could reprise the role with little hassle. I'm not sure if Keith Silverstein is playing Simon again

Richter S supports Lucina lol  ;D . Their even right next to each other in the smash group portrait.

But the references are incredible. Like how Simon kind of throwing his cloak gave me throw backs to Trevor from cv3 and even Gabriel from Mof.

And correct me if I'm wrong but is not the vampire killer design also current with how Trevor gets his whip power up as well?

Also it was brief, but I like how Richter did "hydro storm" in the pikmin stage.

(click to show/hide)
Come on now this was going to happen eventually  :P

I am still absolutely floored by today. Castlevania got way more love than I expected for it, Sakurai rolled out the whole red carpet for the series.

Simon, Richter, Alucard assist, Dracula's Castle stage with unique bosses, 34 music tracks, and Death's scythe for an item...

I can see this getting a lot of people not familiar with Castlevania into the series, and I hope Konami plans to capitalize on this golden opportunity. Sakurai used the same method for Fire Emblem in Melee, and it paid off tremendously. This franchise is definitely on it's way toward a revival.
