How's this for balance?

Imagine a SotN AU where Alucard and Maria are constantly paired together while they’re adventuring through the castle. Basically like Sonic and Tails, except they’re not furries. Alucard’s base powerlevel is on average for what you would expect for an immortal magical half-vampire dude. Maria’s powerlevel is par for the course for an athletically trained but fairly mortal vampire hunting chicker.

BUT there’s a special relationship between these two. Maria also volunteers as a portable blood factory that Alucard can nibble on to boost his vampiric powers. This gives Alucard basically an Invincibility Mode while Maria is temporarily out of commission. She’s not unconscious or anything. Just a little too woozy for fighting and dependent on Alucard to protect her.

Alucard only takes just enough blood so his powers kick without infecting Maria with vampirism. There’s a certain cool-down period after each nibbling so Maria’s body can replenish its blood supply. If the power-up was used too often, it would kill the chicker and/or curse her into being an undead monster for the rest of eternity.

Pros: Makes one-on-one battles much easier for Alucard. Helps Maria feel closer to her dreamy prince she loves so very much when her Guardian Beast powers aren’t enough to back him up. Gets Alucard to accept his nature in a healthy and nurturing way. Keeps other male vampires away from Maria because they can sense her jugular is already occupied territory.

Cons: Disables half of the team temporarily. Basically puts Alucard in an escort mission. Possibly makes Maria more vulnerable to succubus attacks because once a vampire dude has bitten a human chicker once, that vampire dude’s essence lingers on her and there’s a chance it can make any nearby succubi nuts.

so?? How do you like my pitch???

Honestly?

That sucked balls. I unironically think you can write better than this silly excuse to have Alucard drink blood from Maria.

Getting Alucard to "accept his nature in a healthy and nurturing way" also means "getting Alucard to take a castle-sized shit on his mother's grave". On the priority list, I think his mother is waaaaaay above Maria's erotic dreams, and this is only one of the issues I have with the entire premise.

I mean, I know this is not a "~le canonical discussion" and fanfiction accepts anything. But you did ask what the Dungeon thinks :O

Would he even listen? esco's got serious ego issues and needs to get over himself. Not just for everyone's safety but also his own.

@Super Waffle: Your idea does sound interesting. A game concept could be constructed around your suggestion. Although I can see it being used for two new partner characters which might be easier to get away with since Alucard's got issues with his own bloodline.

I've heard worse ideas, though yeah, it seems like fanfic material more than anything else...;o

What if it was this premise, but instead of Maria and Alucard, it was two off-brand Bloodstained-esque characters who were exactly like Maria and Alucard?

I wrote that Bloodstained one and nobody here cared.

That Fushigi Yuugi story I've been writing is the 2nd longest thing I've ever written and it has 0 reviews.
