It's nice to know we're not wholly forgotten outside of Netfilx, even if it is something so small.

Hey, we got those NFTs!  So…hooraaaaay.

General Castlevania Discussion / Simon and Alucard coming to Brawlhalla
« Last post by Reinhart77 on September 14, 2022, 09:05:32 AM »
Looks like Simon Belmont and Alucard are coming to Brawlhalla. Maybe this is what we’re getting for Halloween this year?

Wouldn’t it be neat if there was ever a game that had both Castlevania characters and Bloodstained characters in it as guests?

EDIT:

Oh, it seems crossover characters are just skins. No wonder Simon is using his Axe more often than a whip in the trailer and as a melee weapon.  Wonder how many unique moves they’ll get though.

EDIT 2:
This one has more analysis.  Seems like they will get a good dose of moves from their original games.

Recently messing around a lot of original Mega Man and X/Zero series hacks. The one that added charged shot and slide to Mega Man 2 (https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4099/) is pretty damn good. Mega Man 3 Improment project (https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/992/) is still getting updates, while Mega Man 3 revamped (https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4773/) is a good sample based off of it, with some good twist of level design for castle stages.

Mega Man Zero 2 Revisited (https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/7119/) is a really good way to neutralize infamous system designs in the game. Upon applied to Rockman Zero 2 Cutscene Skip hack (https://github.com/Ajarmar/platinum) alongside it a 99% definitive version of Zero 2 is already there.

Just a popup that as for Sept. 2022 it's been upgraded to v2.1.3. Every time it's been upgraded there's a ton of goodness added and lead to unlimited possibility.

A playthrough of an earlier version, hopefully it could demonstrate how good X5 could be improved if the additional tidbits are applied:

Any vote for a rerquest to make the developer to revamp the game for Steam, Switch, etc.? To nowadays it still looks badass.

General Castlevania Discussion / Re: Castlevania Hand Drawn Guide

I don't really understand the appeal of the hand drawn game guides.  The art, while more skillful than the average person's abilities, isn't done on a professional level.  Yet the guides go for $150 if I recall correctly.  I get infinitely more enjoyment out of something like Kurt's HG101 Castlevania book, or Jeremy Parish's Castlevania book.  But maybe that's just me.

The art isn't bad, but I feel a bit more work and detail could go into it to really 'flesh' it out some. Someone also mentioned that it was a 8 page guide making it sound more like a pamphlet then an actual magazine. Since that's the case some more pages and information Like general information, history, development, interviews, etc. would really help it in that department too. But not bad. Not bad at all.

Looks like the first issue of Hand Drawn Gaming will feature the original NES Castlevania game.
