Title: Recommend me some PS4 games that aren't God of War or Kingdom Hearts

So, my PS4, having spent two years unplugged, now seems cured of every single illness which had afflicted it! YAY! Trouble is... I sold off most of my games for it.
So I need some recommendations as I rebuild my collection.
Please do not recommend God of War. I'm uncomfortable with a game that asks me to murder the actual deities I worship in real life (or even just one of them).

And please nothing Kingdom Hearts-related.

We've had a falling out, it and I.

If you're a fan of shooters, Doom is amazing! 

The Evil Within 2 (another great one!)
Mortal Kombat XL
Star Wars Battlefront II - good for rental, VERY short campaign mode
Resident Evil Biohazard Gold Edition
And yes, God of War  :P sorry, i know you said not to mention it, but believe it or not there is VERY little that ties it together from the old titles.  Having beat the main story, i can say that, again, VERY little of the old titles make their way onto this game.  The only thing i really didn't like about it was the control setup, you attack with R1/R2 and only jump when prompted on ledges etc....the fvCK?  :rollseyes:

Sorry i don't have a larger list, i recently acquired a ps4 slim (again) so i'm looking at growing it myself.  I also have FFXV Royale Edition but haven't dived in just yet.  If you like the old games, the crash trilogy looks amazing

Driving me away from it even faster. I loved the first six games (and the Betrayal java game for really old phones), and there's hardly a thing about them I would have changed. If that's Sony's strategy for getting more money from me, they need to do literally the exact opposite of what God of War 2018 represents. XD

Nioh Maybe I'll add it to a wishlist and hope it gets gifted to me. I love Soulsesque games, but I do royally suck at them. XD

understandable (have a great day) and each to his own but

you know my heritage and ancestry, and it didn't stop or bother me any doing it

is it really accountable as symbolic deicide when said pantheon has its entire death calendar long since mapped out and known to everybody in it?

besides, TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECHNICALLY you're not the one that killed everyone's favorite godbro--the kissy plant is if we're being technical

if anything, i should imagine that, considering during the events immediately following fimbulvetr everyone's fighting and killing everyone else, our dear æsir and vanir wouldn't take much offense at the idea of simulated practice and training for the massacre to come

but i do see where you're coming from, even if i don't share the sentiment

also "how dare they change a formula i liked it's crap" really doesn't hold an ounce of water considering first, you haven't played it so don't actually have any practical understanding of what changed and how it feels now, and second, i have probably like 80 hours logged into GOW2018 and at no point has the new combat system felt even a little bit stale for me--and you ought to know that's rather high praise considering how analretentive i can get about gameplay value

double also, personal spiritual conflicts notwithstanding:

gow is worth getting and playing and beating to full if for no other reason than that every single syllable out of mimir's mouth is pure comedic gold, gold of such a sheen and purity that even eitri would shit himself in envy

and old man sparta ain't too bad with his deadpan banter with everyone's favorite know-it-all, either

nobody ever realized how much god of war lacked/needed/paired well with true comedy--until it finally happened

@Lumi Haha that's okay, criticism doesn't phase me.

I don't believe you need to have played Persona 4 to play Persona 5.

Regardless of whether you're an fgc guy or not, I'm not seeing how Blazblue's console version would be inferior to psp? However, again if you're not that into fighters, fair enough, but I knew some gamers who didn't really like 2d fighters and started with BB, loved it and the rest is history :)

I second a lot of the stuff that has already been mentioned, but other than that I think Yakuza Zero is pretty great. It’s an especially great starting point if you’re new to the series. I know a couple of newcomers who actually got completely hooked on the series after playing it (and one friend who thought it was rather meh, so it’s hard to know...)

You could also give Just Cause 3 a try. Noth'n like ousting a tyrannical dictator, blowing up all his fancy toys and bases, plus the game has it's own bit of humour too.

Don't forget to download the free 2d side scrolling prequel A King's Tale.
Also ready your internet for the massive patch updates and download code downloads coming from the box of the royal edition.
Looks at the GB space eaten by that game in my PS4
There might be a season pass 2 (?), since they will add 4 more extra "episodes" (winter 2018 to spring 2019)
Maybe it would be better to wait for the complete complete edition next year? LOL

I don't want to deal with grindy rpgs as of this point but you might consider these two.

I'm actually legit hype for this, because I haven't ever gotten to complete XV even though I've hammered it for a while I stopped to play and finish Zelda BOTW (yep, sorry old friend FF, but I'd put Zelda on hiatus for a while before so I switched back - no puNintended ;) ... That is some good ass news, as I was considering getting Royal Edition.

Yeah. Don't worry of leaving FFXV for a bit, when you come back to it, it would be better than it was before. LOL
Not to mention the little nip and tucks they did on several chapters. The Royal Edition adds lore stuff that requires replaying the entire game or at least using chapter select to get them all (but the hunts and quests reset, argh...). That's why I haven't started yet. The completionist in me is freaking out.

Lol.. There's no way in hell I'm replaying quests at this point. I'm in it for the challenge of completing quests, not so much for the lore side of things. (I've never used any AP to this day). What I'm more interested in are the extra chapters and the additional area with Royal Edition. Do you know if it resets all the quests when you upgrade to RE???

Quests don't reset, unless you deliberately started a new game or used chapter select.
RE just added more quests. However, there are additional quests that are located in chapter 10, I think (I'm assuming you are at the end game frolicking in the world), if you don't mind seeing a few unfinished quests on your end game file, it's ok. Reddit says those quests aren't important.
As for the additional area in Insomnia, it can be played

but reddit says 1 boss (cerberus) will not appear if you've already cleared the game. Although some people said, everything is there including cerberus. I haven't touched the game since March and I haven't played RE yet, so i can't confirm or deny.

yeah the new areas for the boat are sea quests which include fishing, photo ops, viewing something, new recipeh.
