What enemy would you like to see added or improved?

As a classicist I love the kind of obscure mythological beasties included in various metroidvanias--like Catoblepas, Amphisbaena, Amduscias and all the Ars Goetia dudes--though I'd like to see their sprites updated occasionally, Cato has the potential to be really bizarre and Glasya Labolas could have been cooler. I'd also like to see Blackmore again, he intrigued me, and the Frozen Half. And Carmilla and Laura always have a place in my heart.

Along these lines, what enemies did you like, who do you want to see get a facelift, and what mythological critters should be added?

My ideas-
Crocutta--magic using were-hyena.
Emim/Rephaim--biblical giants, though perhaps just other tribes in reality. emim apparently meant 'dreadful'. Undead golem types? Emim the stronger palette swap? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rephaim
Chrysaor--Other thing created by Medusa's death besides Pegasus. I'd like to see it as a massive winged boar rather than the more boring dude-shape.

these have probs all been in SMT/Persona, but you know what, so has /everything/ so what can you do.

I loved all the skeleton variations. My favorites were the Mirror skeleton, Simon wraith, and ninja skeletons. Those guys really put up a fight. And who could forget the historically unfitting motorcycle skeletons from CV64?

hahaha YES. That'd be an excellent hidden boss. I could see it.

I'd also like to see a really good boat stage, like in RoB or CVIII, we haven't had one of those in awhile. Ghost ship stages, pirate enemies, sahuagin/fishmen everywhere. Kill an albatross, gain a 'DOOM' status. Ok, maybe not.

yeah, me too. Is he Dracula's bff, do they paint nails and talk about their fave/least fave Belmonts? is he a prisoner of sorts, too powerful to be allowed to live elsewhere? Some kind of indentured servitude situation? /Olrox reveal your secrets/  >:(

I think he's some kind of vampire atavism--instead of being all suave and having a buff monster form, he's kinda grody and has this lizard/rat thing going on, some kind of throwback, yet obviously cultured. Way older than Drac, but for some reason not in charge...Interesting mix of attributes.

How about the first stage in Legacy of Darkness, "Foggy Lake"?  Opens with the ferryman rowing you towards the anchor of a giant abandoned ship, then you climb up the ship, actual game begins, fight some fishmen, run around on deck of ship fighting ghosts and collecting red jewels, morning stars and subweapons, rotate the masts with lever, climb the masts, fight more ghosts, optionally run across the invisible platform to the mast on the other side of the ship to collect goodies, run back, grab DECK KEY, kill more fishmen, enter inside of boat, fight some skeletons and more fishmen, get attacked by giant sea monster, escape ship as it's sinking, jump across cargo floating in lake to rocky pier, fight sea monster, end of stage.  It's a great stage.

Ahhhh, I forgot that one! It's been ages since I played either of the 64s. I do remember enjoying that, though.

I had a dream (dreaming unreal stages is a frequent occurrence) that was an in-motion ship stage for a 2D CV game. Kind of like the underworld-y boat iiiiin...was it Majora's Mask or OoT? OoT's shadow temple I believe. But In a bright-but-eerie Simon's Quest sort of palette, focused on a lot of dark and light greys and greens...it was a cool dream. I immediately wanted to make that a real stage, but I lack the know-how.

I'd like to see Cthulhu (not the devil-looking thing but the Cthulhu-looking thing) elevated to boss status. When you think about it those Cthulhu creatures are really the miniature spawns of Cthulhu itself so I think it would be an awesome opportunity. The last thing anyone would want including both the Belmonts and Dracula is to have a fully-grown Cthulhu spawn running around and destroying the world. Even Galamoth would be no match for one of the 'Old Ones'.

Yeah I'd like to see more Mythos elements in general, of course. An actual threat from Cthulhu or his cultists, even just a nod at it. We have Dagon already, heh. Hounds of Tindalos get an obvious recc from me too. Pretty sure those iridescent white blobs that bounce around in CVIV were the Colour out of Space anyway.

I thought about a Cthulhu battle in my CV game. But we'll see. Also thought about adding in a Sloggoth level.

Hell yeah! A whole Mythos based CV gaiden would rock my balls.

I'd also like to see both werewolves and vampires have more emphasis in the classicvania style. Come to think of it, having a sort of lycan & vampire hunting thing in CV2 similar to metroid hunting in M2 would have been interesting.

Lord Ruthven, from Polidori's "The Vampyre" and also a vampire version of the Phantom of the Opera.

WHY HAVE THEY NOT BEEN ADDED YET?
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.
