Title: Was Julius actually Leon reincarnate?
Post by: The Puritan on April 14, 2022, 06:31:50 AM
There's nothing to indicate that of course, and the lore does just fine without it. But what if Leon really had been reborn as Julius? It would make poetic sense for the man who started the war with Dracula almost a thousand years ago to be the one who finishes it.

What's more, Julius sealing the castle in an eclipse and ending the Dark Lord's regeneration cycle could be seen as Leon freeing/forgiving his old friend and allowing him another chance. And we know that chance resulted in Soma Cruz aka Mathias reborn sans Dracula's evil power.

It's soundly probable. Japanese love reincarnation elements in their stories. IGA would be no exception to this.

This is a good theory. I agree with X, the Japanese are reincarnation fans.
I wonder what the rest of the forum think about this.

I think it’s irrelevant. The true bloodline to wield the VK is what matters.

In addition, Sara’s soul is eternally bound into the VK, so unless Julius is going to make sweet sweet love to his whip… Yeah, fraid I’m not seeing the point here. Going to have to go with “never happened”.

S&M play! DAMN!  :o

I can also see zangetsu468's argument as well. However we don't know what IGA had in mind during AoS's development; specifically in terms of Julius Belmont's character. Someone could always ask IGA though.

The mechanics of the reincarnation in Castlevania's universe matter too greatly to just broadly ask that question. What difference does that bring as opposed to Julius just inheriting the power of the Vampire Killer? The soul of the VK is the resurrection mechanic for the Belmonts in universe, methinks. Might as well just teleport into Hell and bring Leon back from the dead if you're gonna have the reincarnation affect anything more than that.

I can see the argument more so for Mathias>>>>Soma, given the similar facial appearance and the inverted colour palette. There’s nothing even remote about the artwork that suggests this with Julius… If anything Juste & Maxim look more similar as a duo to Leon & Mathias imho.
