Its fine. Treat it like any other 300$ piece of hardware and havent had any problems.

In Australia the console is $470 for the basic unit, which to me is a lot of money for a Nintendo launch console. At this point I can't even recall what I paid for my Wii, but it wasn't over 300, if I recall correctly it was around 260-280 (they retailed for 400 at launch when the AUD was actually stronger than the USD).

This is my biggest sticking point at the moment, I'm going to wait for another year as I've seen the lineup of games thus far haven't impressed me heaps. I did see Blaster Master Zero and think it looked really cool, but I can just buy it for 3ds XL. (Side note: When I was a kid, I could choose between Blaster Master and Megaman 2 for my 8th Birthday, went with Megaman 2 and glad that I did that. Years later I tried BM out again on emulators but never got into it. I even read the novelised version "Worlds of Power" though.)

The other thing that worries me is this dead pixels shenanigans that Nintendo doesn't consider a defect. I dealt with it when I got the 3DSXL, feel like I got duped by them, and I don't really want to deal again for something nearly worth twice the price.

The screen _is_ plastic though not glass. Makes it a little more finicky but Im putting a glass screen protector on it tomorrow. Its a great console so far. Ive took it to work every day since launch day and play on my lunch break. Ive also left the dock at my gfs house and just use it as a portable and charge it with a standard usb-c cable when I need to

That sounds cool. I know people are making a big deal about the plastic screen, I would think plastic so so that it doesn't break if it's dropped, but it could potentially scratch more.

I just hope nintendo uses it for its handheld and console markets and it actually gets games! *cough* wiiu *cough*

Hmm I see what you're saying in principle, but I still think the Wii U had decent exclusive games:
Mario Kart 8, Smash Wii U, XenoBlade Chronicles X, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Bayonetta 2, Mario 3D World, Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Starfox, Project Zero Wii U, and so forth.

I think it just needed more 3P games and it could've been a a decent competitor.

Thanks for the information. Will definitely take it into consideration.

I think Nintendo has such a hatedom they blow things like this out of proportion. Red Ring of Death, white screen of death, dead pixels is annoying but not as much as a bricked console. Every launch version of every console for at least the last decade has had issues. My solution is to never buy launch versions of consoles.

As for main topic- I started playing Geneforge 2. Been looking forward to this. Geneforge 1, a text heavy (as much as a novel I'd say) indie RPG with a great story and rudimentary graphics from 2001 was my favorite of the games I played for the first time last year. It handled morality better than any other RPG I've seen, you've got freedom to be "good" or "bad" yes but what's good and bad is also largely left up to you. The fundamental question is what rights and responsibilities, if any, do creators owe their creations?

Waited this long to play 2 because it uses the same game engine and graphics and didn't want to burn out. So far I don't like the sequel as much as the original because most of the mystery/world discovery elements are gone, as you'd expect of a sequel. But it's still good. Still enjoy the world/lore and gameplay and still plan to play through 3 4 and 5 at some point. Maybe just in time to play the remake of Geneforge 1 that's coming out in about 3 years lol.

True that. The thing I also really don't think is cool is that save files are console only, not cloud, nor cartridge itself??
One would think that having cartridges have a massive advantage for portability of save files and using another console if yours is not with you or being fixed.. It's just silly that you can't. I do appreciate that the console is region free though, at least it shows a massive roadblock that is now gone. (going from a region locked handheld console to a region free portable home console being one giant leap for big N)

Hmm not sure I'm that far in yet, or that I'm strong enough if it what I'm thinking of...
I ended playing Megaman until 1am and leaving for work at 6:30... (Can't believe I made it)

Got myself Fallout 4. Bethsoft are REALLY stretching the definition of an RPG game this time around. Then again, I'm playing Pillars of Eternity in parallel.

Just found out Megaman X4 still works on modern machines, crazy.
Worked some fixes for YS Celceta, got everything up and working except AI Change on controller.

Also, If everything goes right, I'll be getting my hands on a GPD WIN in a matter of a week or two, so there will be extensive testing/playing of both classic and modern games.

Hows the Leynos remake? I bought it but it's still in the plastic wrap.

Hows the Leynos remake? I bought it but it's still in the plastic wrap.

I haven't played the original on the Genesis, but there is a classic mode (and it's hard, even on normal).  Not sure how accurate it is to the Genesis original though.  Played it mostly on arcade mode, which is a great deal easier than classic mode (even on hard), and I'm having a lot of fun with it.  The scoring and how weapon drops correlate with it is one of the draws for me.  There are notable differences between the arcade mode (think of it as an arranged mode for the remake) and the classic mode, so don't be shocked if there's any differences from the original game while playing arcade mode.

Stuck in a specific stage (need to break enemy's guard to deal damage) in World Tour mode of Street Fighter Alpha 3 (PSP). It's just a...hazard to perform moves on PSP's d-pad and I'm suck at combinations.

Normal (Semi-Arcade) mode costs me several good hours to beat Final boss M.Bison. Love that badass music it fits him perfectly.
And damn capcom just didn't give us sound test mode aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrraaaaggghhh

Final M.Bison and Shin Akuma are playable. Hella great! (Final M.Bison is still charge-based character despite one-key super combo can be set in PSP ver. But it doesn't change the fact that CPU final boss is on drug.)

Depends, the PSP version has something special about it, re-assign your buttons to find out, it'll literally feel like you can Sonic boom on a single button press

Been playing some "Blood", the 1997 FPS on the Build (Duke Nukem 3D) engine. It's good gory fun once you get past the archaic control scheme. I'm loving all the references to the history of horror, everything from Lovecraft to Elvira.

Giving Just Cause 3 a play. Never played this series before but it is very similar to games like GTA/SR in terms of the whole sandbox thing. Having a blast. Literally, since when I blow s**t up lots of things explode around me, lol. Although there is no character creation mode, I'm still getting into the game.
