Its fine. Treat it like any other 300$ piece of hardware and havent had any problems.
In Australia the console is $470 for the basic unit, which to me is a lot of money for a Nintendo launch console. At this point I can't even recall what I paid for my Wii, but it wasn't over 300, if I recall correctly it was around 260-280 (they retailed for 400 at launch when the AUD was actually stronger than the USD).
This is my biggest sticking point at the moment, I'm going to wait for another year as I've seen the lineup of games thus far haven't impressed me heaps. I did see Blaster Master Zero and think it looked really cool, but I can just buy it for 3ds XL. (Side note: When I was a kid, I could choose between Blaster Master and Megaman 2 for my 8th Birthday, went with Megaman 2 and glad that I did that. Years later I tried BM out again on emulators but never got into it. I even read the novelised version "Worlds of Power" though.)
The other thing that worries me is this dead pixels shenanigans that Nintendo doesn't consider a defect. I dealt with it when I got the 3DSXL, feel like I got duped by them, and I don't really want to deal again for something nearly worth twice the price.
The screen _is_ plastic though not glass. Makes it a little more finicky but Im putting a glass screen protector on it tomorrow. Its a great console so far. Ive took it to work every day since launch day and play on my lunch break. Ive also left the dock at my gfs house and just use it as a portable and charge it with a standard usb-c cable when I need to
That sounds cool. I know people are making a big deal about the plastic screen, I would think plastic so so that it doesn't break if it's dropped, but it could potentially scratch more.
I just hope nintendo uses it for its handheld and console markets and it actually gets games! *cough* wiiu *cough*
Hmm I see what you're saying in principle, but I still think the Wii U had decent exclusive games:
Mario Kart 8, Smash Wii U, XenoBlade Chronicles X, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Bayonetta 2, Mario 3D World, Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Starfox, Project Zero Wii U, and so forth.
I think it just needed more 3P games and it could've been a a decent competitor.
Thanks for the information. Will definitely take it into consideration.
