Well if you look at the youtube page, apparently a bunch of mean cops showed up at this guys house and demanded that he surrender his dog. They escorted the dog to the truck with great caution because this loveable little pooch is such a danger to society. Then they drove off into the sunset, apparently to put the dog down.
Here's the real deal (warning, Antraxx is right, it's boring, but the point is all in the spin this dude put on his video): This dog has been generating all sorts of complaints throughout the neighborhood. Two of the neighborhood kids have been "treed" by the dog, and the city council stepped in. Over a year ago, the Animal Control officer (not the one in the video - she's just an intern) looked into the situation and declared the dog dangerous. Now up to this point, I really don't care too much about the background story, since I've got far better things to worry about than dogs running amok.
So the dog was declared dangerous and the owner was given five days to remove it from the city, and if he didn't it would be confiscated by the city. He appealed the decision to the city council, and then to the court, both of which upheld Animal Control's decision. He brought a lawsuit against the city. Now, one year after the dog was declared dangerous, the appeals have been overturned and an animal control intern (the girl in the vid) was sent to get the dog, to take him to a holding unit at the Humane Society (not to be put down, just to be held until the owner makes his arrangements to remove the dog from the city).
The owner threatened the intern and argued with her, so she called for cops as backup. We arrived and explained the situation to him, and he refused to surrender the dog. We called a supervisor who explained it all to him again, and he still refused. We let him call the mayor and several aldermen, and he finally agreed, under threat of arrest, to surrender the dog. I ran his name, and he came back with several warrants. I allowed him to walk the dog out to the Animal Control truck, but we were all taking caution around the owner because of his warrants, as well as his attitude. None of us really wanted to take the dog away, we were just upholding what this man was ordered to do a year ago. And we weren't being cautious because of the dog, but because of the owner with his warrants.
Funny how the video didn't show the 45-minute long discussion leading up to this, and it cut out before I arrested the dude. I just hate when people put a bad spin on the cops, and there's all sorts of it in our local paper. But when this got posted, it kinda got personal. I realize this is awesomely boring, but then, a lot of what I do is that way. Thanks for indulging me.
