A few weeks ago it was reported that Michael Dorn was going to be in a Castlevania movie.  That was not entirely accurate, he and fellow trek veteran Marina Sirtis appear in Castlevania: Hymn of Blood. The ferryman looked awesome. The cgi looked about as well as indie stuff gets, so I won't make any issues with it. I can't really complain about the actors. In particular the actor playing Dracula has a distinctive face, and it was interesting to see some gray added to his character in regards to caring about the woman. It brings back shades of Lisa.

However I can't believe Dracula of all people can't smell or hear his servant or the newborn baby like 8 fucking feet away, despite the guy's heart no-doubt pounding like a hammer. I know you could argue that the servants milling about so much would make the scent inconspicuous but how often are the servants that petrified? And how many fucking times has the half-human/half-vampire trope been done? Hell it's been done twice now in Castlevania alone. Do we really need another one?

And if they're going to copy SotN so much they might as well make SotN. The ONLY thing I could see from a lore perspective supporting "Belmont is Dracula/Dracula's son" is that would explain the powers the Belmonts have and why humanity feared them. However I don't quite understand how a being touched of darkness will be able to wield holy power so effectively. I guess I'm just looking into that too much.

Despite it sounding like I ripped this a new ass, I'm still going to watch the series to weigh in more on it.
