Pre Launch Test Builds

As we near the end of development, we have began to finalize our plans for early test builds for our backers. As promised, Private Screening backers and above will receive a test build, which will include the entire main campaign and both playable characters, Dorin and Irina. Some features will still be missing, including the Wicked campaign and storytelling elements such as cutscenes, but you will be able to play through the entire core experienced before the game is released.

More details coming soon. The time has almost come to journey into the heart of the ancient Castle Dracula! Until then, stay tuned!

Slightly off topic, but there is huge uproar in the game development community over recent announcements made by Unity:

Carpathian Night is made in Unity, so this is big news for us. My personal take is that I do not see how these new fees for developers are legally or technically feasible, and Unity will likely roll back this announcement, but the damage has been done and I've completely lost my trust for Unity. It's a terrifying feeling to suddenly realize that years of work and investment in your creative passion project can be held at the mercy of greedy corporate decision making. Hard lesson learned. 

My advice to anyone thinking about diving into a game development project? Don't go with Unity. Carpathian Night will likely be the only Unity game Tezcatek ever makes. This experience will likely push us toward open source solutions in the future.

Is it possible to relocate the game as-is to another engine? Transfer the code or something to that effect?

Private Screening backers and above, your time is now! The Private Screening build of Carpathian Night Starring Bela Lugosi will be available on Steam starting today. We will be emailing keys shortly. Activate this key on Steam to begin your journey through Castle Dracula! I encourage everyone to drop by our Discord to report any bugs or drop any suggestions, comments, or questions about this build.

As for general release, we are currently aiming for the end of December for the Steam version.

We are really happy to have reached this late project milestone, and we hope you enjoy playing the Private Screening build as much as we enjoyed making it! The return of the legendary vampire prince is almost here!
