Castlevania: Requiem of Brotherhood Chapter 1 It was late afternoon as Luke Belmont walked from his high school to his home. It was a daily routine for him, except on the weekends of course. He finally reached the house where he lived and passed through the gate, locking it behind him and made his way to the door. Luke took the metallic key from his pocket and inserting it into the lock and turned it, hearing a slight click inside. He then grabbed the door handle and turned it, opening the door and walking inside. He closed the door behind him and locked it. “I’m home!” he shouted, making sure everyone in the household heard him. The first to respond was his little brother, Michael, who ran up and gave his brother a hug. “Welcome home!” he said, with such excitement in his voice. To most people, they said that Michael is like a little version of Luke, who was in his senior year in high school. Their parents, Erika and Jack, walked down the stairs, smiling what they are seeing. “Did you have a good day, son?” Jack asked. “Yeah, I did. Same old stuff.” “You know you got to train soon though.” Luke just sighed and knew he couldn’t win the argument, like he usually does. “Sure thing. Besides, it’s not like we’re going to have any threats anytime soon.” Jack and Luke headed outside to the backyard, where numerous targets were made for training. Luke placed his backpack on the ground and picked up the training whip from the shed nearby. The young teenager stood at the center of the 10 targets. “Just remember to be swift and powerful with the whip, son. Remember what runs through your veins.” Jack said to his son, encouraging him at best. Luke, in the blink of an eye, uncurled the whip and let it crack on all the targets around him, each of them falling apart like dominos. He curled the whip up again and let out a sigh of relief. He turned to see his father applaud his skill. “You have improved a lot since you were a boy, Luke. You are truly the heir…” “Dad, this is ridiculous! Dracula’s been dead for almost 70 years! He’s not going to come back!” The young teenager threw the whip down to the ground and stormed into the house and headed upstairs to his room, slamming the door behind him. Luke got onto his bed and laid down, feeling really exhausted from he had just done earlier. “Hello?” a voice called, followed by a knock on the door. Luke turned onto his side as his mother entered the room, then sitting on the bed. “Luke, I know you don’t want to accept your inheritance, but it’s the way your father was raised as well.” She said, trying her best to comfort her son with her words. “He’s doing this to prepare you, just in case.” The young teenager just sighed and replied, “It’s just that…he believes this thing about Dracula coming back from the dead. I looked in our family journals. He’s been dead since 1944. There’s no way he’s coming back at all.” Erika placed her hand on her son’s head, patting it and then gives a kiss on it. “Dinner’s going to be ready in a couple hours. Go ahead and get some rest. I’ll call you when it’s ready. “ She got up and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her. Luke let out another sigh of relief and let slumber come over him, his eyes closing slowly until he was surely asleep. Chapter 2 Two hours later, a sudden crashing noise was heard from downstairs, disturbing Luke from his nap. “Mom? Dad?” He opened the door to his room and hurried as quickly as he could downstairs, following the trace of the noise to the living room. On the floor was shared of glass and wooden parts of the window, making him realize that someone broke into the house through there. His heartbeat started to get faster as he got really scared of what could have of happened. “Mom! Dad!! Michael!” he shouted as he made his way to the kitchen, soon stopping only to see his mother on the floor, lying there. “Mom!” Luke ran to her and lifted her up, only see blood drip from her back. “No, please! No…Mom!” There was no response from her at all. She was truly dead. The young teen started to cry, slowly putting her down carefully and walked to the backyard, where he heard struggles of a fight. In shock, he saw his father doing battle with skeletal beings. “Dad!” He raced outside, only to be pounced on by a skeletal being himself. “Gah! Get off of me, you damn…” “Luke!” His dad shouted as he fired his shotgun at the skeletal being on his son. Luke got up, getting the remains off of him. Remembering the whip from earlier, Luke grabbed it and started attacking the beings surrounding him and his dad. “Hey Dad, sorry I doubted you.” “We don’t have time for apologies now, son.” Luke cracked the whip, and his father reloaded his shotgun, cocking it. “Shall we?” “Let’s do it.” Before they could, they heard screaming coming from inside the house. “Michael!” Luke shouted. “Luke, you go in and get Michael, I can handle our guests.” Luke nodded as a reply and headed inside the house, running all the way upstairs and makes his way to Michael’s room. “Michael! MICHAEL!” Luke shouted as he opened the door, only to see his brother missing from his bed. He checked all around, no traces of blood were found, which meant his brother was kidnapped. Luke hurried back down the stairs, to tell his father. “Dad! Dad! Michael’s been…” Luke stopped where he was and dropped the whip in his hand. He saw his dad on the ground, laying face down on the ground, a stab wound seen on his back. He raced to his father and knelt down, holding him up. “Dad! C’mon! Don’t do this to me!” Jack opened his eyes slowly and saw his son, tears falling from his face. “L-Luke…where’s Michael?” “Those things took him. Dad, what’s going on? Who were those things?” “Dracula’s minions…they might be trying to bring him back..Luke, you’re the only one who can stop them. Save Michael…and the world…” He closed his eyes and died in his son’s arms. “Dad…” Luke started to cry, knowing that both of his parents are gone. Filled with rage, Luke got up and stormed into the house and went into the basement, where his Dad kept all the family weapons. There, in a glass case, was the legendary Belmont weapon, the whip “Vampire Killer.” He smashed the case open and grabbed the whip and secured it to his belt. Then he turned to the gun cabinet and opened it, grabbing his Beretta .45 that his dad got him for a hunting trip. He also grabbed about eight clips of ammo for his gun, all the bullets are composed of holy silver. Luke placed on a holster for his gun and placed it in there, along with the clips. Luke took the whip into his hand and cracked it loudly. “Dracula, you’re going down.” Chapter 3 After a night of giving his parents a proper burial in the family cemetery, he laid a white flower on each grave, still having heartbreaking tears fall from his eyes. “I will avenge you both…rescue Michael…and defeat Dracula…I will!” He turned away from the graves, walking away, the morning breeze blowing through his long, brown hair as he made his way to his motorbike. He donned his helmet and turned on his bike, revving it before speeding off to Castlevania. Meanwhile, at the dark realm of Castlevania, Michael was struggling in the chains he was being held in. “Hey! Let me out of here! You creep!” A werewolf snarled at him, startling the young boy, causing him to fall onto his back. “Keep it quiet, you brat!” the wolf snapped at him before going back onto his watch. Michael huddled up and looked around the prison he was kept in. He was in a dark, cold stony cell, the same kind that was used during the medieval days. The 12-year-old boy just watched the wolf march back and forth in front of his cell. “What happened to my parents? Where’s my brother?” The wolf turned to him and looked at him with a vicious look in his eyes. “Your parents are dead, and soon will you be too.” He gasped, hearing the wolf’s words started to make him cry and he grabbed the bars and shouted back, “You’re lying! You’re lying!” The wolf guard grabbed Michael by the collar of his pajamas and snarled, “Only your parents are dead…somehow your brother got away! But we’ll deal with him soon.” He dropped the kid and walked away. Michael suddenly had a little sigh of relief, knowing that his brother was alive and well, and knowing he’ll save him too. Outside of the palace of evil, Luke revved closer to Castlevania, only to have his bike start sputtering and slowing down. He soon stopped and got off the bike, taking off his helmet as well, hanging it on the handle. “Damn it, I just had this thing fixed last week. Why…” Before he could finish his statement, he heard rustling nearby. Luke shook it off and continued to check on his bike, until he heard the noise again. This time, he stood up and took out his gun from its holster. He turned on the flashlight attached to the gun, making sure he could see what was causing the noise in the forest. He crept slowly towards the spot where he heard the rustling, making sure not to provoke it. His heart began to beat faster, getting really nervous of what was going to pop out. A vampire? A werewolf? Or something worse? “C’mon…c’mon out and show yourself,” he muttered softly. The teenager jumped at the near sight of a…rabbit. “Great, out of all the things to scare me, it’s Peter Cottontail.” He sighed with relief and put his gun away and turned around, there it was…a vampire, snarling at him. She grabbed him and throw into a tree, making him drop his gun. “Human! How dare you enter Castlevania?!“ she hissed at him. “And here I thought I was invited,” he replied as he heaved himself up from the ground. He grabbed the whip from his belt and uncurled it, cracking it. “Bring it on, bloodsucker.” The vampire saw the whip and hissed at him again, “Belmont!!” She leapt into the air and flew down at him, bearing her claws and fangs at Luke, who was ready for anything. “Let’s hope the training I did paid off.” He cracked the whip again and struck the vampire a few times before she stopped and crumbled to dust. Luke looked with amazed at what he had just done: He had just defeated a vampire with a few cracks of Vampire Killer. “Wow…” he looked down at the whip, “you truly do live up to your reputation.” Luke picked up his gun and holster and got them back on. He headed to his bike and continued to fix the problem with his bike. “Aw c’mon, you piece of crap!” He kicked it in anger and it started to run. In amazement, he laughed and jumped onto the bike, getting his helmet on and getting his whip out, cracking it again. “Don’t worry, Michael! I’m coming for you!” Chapter 4 Michael just paced back and forth in his cell, wishing and hoping his older brother will come through and rescue him from his captivity. The current guard, who was a vampire, kept watch on the young human as he paced back and forth. “Will you stop that?! You’re getting annoying with that!” Michael looked at the vampire and walked up to him, despite being separated by the steel bars. “What else am I suppose to do? I’m stuck in here! And when my brother gets here, he’s going make all of you pay for it.” “Is that so, puny one? There’s an army of monsters in this castle…and he’s only one, simple human being. What is he going to do about that?” The vampire hissed and started going back to his watch, leaving Michael standing there, shaking his head. “He will be here. I know it!” --------------- Meanwhile, outside of the castle, only mere miles away, Luke was resting near a small campfire he made and roasting a fish he caught in the river earlier. He took a deep breath, knowing he can’t go head on into Castlevania just yet. Luke remembered his father telling him to not push himself so hard, just take it easy and take your time. But he felt like he didn’t have time to lose, since he has only a certain amount of time to save his brother from the forces of evil. “Hang on a little while longer, Michael. I’m coming to get you. And I’ll make sure Dracula gets what’s coming to him.” He grabbed the stick the fish was attached to and took a bite out of it, looking at the vast river flowing constantly in front of him. “That’s one helluva river. I wonder how many fish are swimming through it.” He finished up his fish and stuck the stick back into the ground, getting up and walking towards it, and carefully jumps onto the huge boulder that was stuck in the middle of the river. He turned in one direction, watching it flow majestically. “Man, when I save Michael and we settle down, we got to come here to…hm?” Luke turned around him, seeing nothing behind him. “I swear there was something behind me…must be my imagination.” He turned around back to where he is, only this time to hear a small splash behind him, causing him to turn around again. This time, Luke pulled out his pistol and pulled back the hammer, cocking it. He knelt down and prepared himself for what was about to rise out of the water “Okay, I think it’s time for round two against monsters. Bring it on.” All of a sudden, a huge swell came from behind Luke, causing him to almost lose his balance on the boulder and to fall into the water. He looked up with great horror seeing a great, blue beast with multiple heads rise out of the water. Getting his bearings together, Luke tried his best dodge the monstrosity’s attacks. The monster swung his tail at him, striking the young hunter in the back and sent him flying to the ground. “Damn it. He’s big AND hits hard. That’s no fun. Let’s see how you like holy silver!” He quickly raised his gun and managed to fire at the hydra, only to have the bullets doing no damage at all. One of the heads snapped at him, causing him to dodge again, this time, hiding behind a tree so the monster wouldn’t see him reload his gun. “Okay, that’s not going to work at all. I got to get to him somehow without getting noticed and take out the main head.” Luke peeked out, trying his best not to get spotted by the hydra. He carefully looked over the hydra, noticing most of the heads looked the same, until he spotted a head that had red eyes, while the other heads all had green eyes. Carefully counting how many heads the creature had, he double checked his clip and sighed with relief. “Just enough to take care of the supporting heads. Okay…1…2…3!” Luke charged out and started firing at the eyes of the supporting heads, blinding each of them. The supporting heads just screeched out as the lead head roared, noticing the young vampire killer running in its direction. “Here it goes!” He cracked the whip and let it fly, wrapping it around the main head of the hydra and then made a jump for it without getting attacked. The main head growled, trying to shake off Luke, but the slayer had the whip wrapped around the beast’s neck, making sure he won’t fall into the river below. “Now, to take care of you!” He whipped out his gun and started firing at him at point blank rage, but like the other heads, they won’t penetrate the monster thick scaled skin. The slayer gritted his teeth and put his gun away. “It seems the only way…” he said as he reached into his side pocket and pulled out two bottles of holy water, “is to do it from the inside. Now say ‘Aah!’” Going Tarzan style, his whip still around the hydra’s neck, he swung around and waited till he saw the beast snarl and then open its mouth wide, allowing him to throw the two bottles into its maw and down its throat. With the right pull, Luke unwound the whip from the serpent’s neck and landed into the water safely. He rose up and saw what was happening to the monster. Its scales started to crumble off its body, like an old statue falling to pieces after years and years. The hydra shrieked and wailed, feeling its insides beginning to burn up and slowly dissolve due to the holy water’s powerful affects. As it let out one, final roar, the hydra fell down, finally defeated and reduced to nothing but a mere ashes and bones. Luke got out of the water and dried himself up near the fire, finally relieved that fight had been finished, but his quest is yet to be done. After an hour of relaxing, Luke got up and put the fire out carefully and went to his bike. He curled up the whip and attached to his belt and started his bike, donned his helmet and drove by the river till he came across and bridge and crossed it. As he continued to drive on, he finally noticed a huge, ominous shape in the distance that grew bigger and bigger as he drove closer. He finally stopped the bike and turned it off; there it was… Dracula’s castle. He took off his helmet and placed it on his bike’s seat, walking towards the ledge, his hair being carried by the wind that blew across him. “Michael…I’m here…I won’t be much longer now…And Dracula, I’ll make sure you will pay for what you did to my family. You hear me?!” he shouted, unleashing his whip and letting it crack, making sure that everyone in the castle know he was coming. Chapter 5 Young Michael was fast asleep on the cold, stone ground until the incoming shouting of the guards started to get close to his cell, startling him from his sleep. There, before his cell, were two skeleton guards, seeming to be in a bit of a panic. “Did you just hear? That Belmont kid defeated the hydra! And he’s coming this way!” “Impossible! No one’s been able to make it pass the hydra!” The two guards rushed out of the room just as Michael watched them leave, a smile of hope on his face. “Go Luke! That’s my brother!” Outside, in the courtyard, groups of monster guards started gathering in a tight formation outside of the castle walls, hoping to block the way of the incoming Belmont. The castle gates slowly began to rise up, the guard bridge lowering down, as if to allow Luke to pass into the domain. As soon as the passage to the castle was opened up, the guards got their weapons drawn, edger to draw Belmont blood…but no one was waiting at the gate. Confusion began to run through the crowd of monsters, until the loud crack of a whip was heard…from high above! Luke jumped down, cracking Vampire Killer and wrapping it around a flag pole, allowing him to land safely on the stone ground, the guards getting caught by surprise. He stood there, looking at the monsters surrounding him, as if he’s counting how many there are. “Wow, enough for a party! Well…let’s get it started!” The guards charged at the intruder, only to be vanquished by either the crack of Vampire Killer or a shot of a holy silver bullet. Luke started charging through the crowded courtyard, slashing and shooting through the hordes of monsters, each one turning into dust on the ground until there was only one monster remaining, a lone skeleton; standing firm with sword in his bony hand. Luke walked towards the skeleton, knocking the sword out of his hand with his gun and grabbing the skeleton by his neck. “Listen here, Bones, where is my brother being held up?” he asked, his eyes leering at the skeleton. “I’m not going to tell you, Belmont!” Luke gritted his teeth and fired a round into the air. “Let’s try this again.” “He’s in the tower nearby, just over to the north.” “Thanks for the info, bonehead.” After that, he dropped the skeleton and walked away into the direction that was described to him. He stopped when he heard the skeleton’s voice. “You can’t stop Death. You’re just a kid.” The blond teenager turned around and looked at him, unraveling the whip. “Who are you are calling a kid?” Luke cracked the whip and struck the skeleton, sending him scattering into pieces, before curling the whip back together and walking towards the tower.
