My list (in order):
1) Final Fantasy 6
2) Final Fantasy 7 (minus 1)
3) Final Fantasy III (SNES)
4) Umm... The one with Kefka (I forgets)
5) The third one that came out in America
6) Oh shit! I almost forgot to mention Final Fantasy 6!
7) Did I leave Shadow somewhere?
8) Oh! There he is! (puts hands on hips) That's our Shadow!
9) Where were we? Ah yes, I'd say the sixth one. Not sure...
10) Rad Racer

No. There are 20+ final fantasy games without counting remakes. You seem to be forgetting all spin-off stories and the likes.
Personally, I love Final Fantasy III (NES), only released in Japan, I have the remake they did for the Nintendo DS, and it rocks. I've taken my time to enjoy the game, I'm in the final stages now. I also like FF IV (SNES), once again, only released in Japan. I eagerly await the US release of the game, hoping they won't remove the Japanese voice acting.
And that's pretty much it, other FF games i've played I don't like that much. Worthy of mention though are FF7 (PSX), FF7 Crisis Core (PSP) and FF12 Ring of Fates.
EDIT: Upon further reading, I realised I just made an ass out of myself, the article only wants I-XII as reference. No side stories. I'll leave this up for laughs.

I personally found FF VI to be a great game, but it is too highly emphasized by fanboys/fangirls.
I think the game lacked originality and depth, not to mention Kefka was, while funny, not the antagonist we've grown to love and hate throughout the FF lineage. His premise was pitiful, he was just batshit insane and wanted world domination, without any deep meaning or specific motive.
He didn't really do anything in specific to anyone, so that satisfying feeling of revenge and satisfaction when beating his ass wasn't there, and it overall just had a very weak and cliche post-apocalyptic story, and the weak character development made you not really care about what happened to the characters, so the emotional charge was absent.
But as for my list, it'd have to be:
1. FF IV
2. FF VII
3. FF XII
4. FF Tactics
5. FF Mystic Quest
6. FF X
7. FF I
8. FF VI
9. FF II
10. FF IX
-
1. FF6
2. FF4
3. FF9
4. FF12
5. FF1
6. FF10
7. FF5
8. FF8
9. FF7
10. FF3
Not a big fan of the series anyway, but FF6 is a true masterpiece in every possible way. FF7? Not so much.

Hunh? seven is perfect, the materia aspect was done perfectly and the 2 optional bosses were awesomeness. Sephiroth was the man and still the best badguy I think in the whole FF series.

I don't even like Final Fanstasy, and yet I really like Sephiroth. I guessits because he reminds me of Joachim.

Yeah, well.. people tell me that over and over and over and I'm kinda tired of hearing it. I just don't think FF7 is anywhere near "perfect". I would go as far as saying it's certainly above average, but back in 1997 (after 3 years of waiting) I felt it was a VERY disappointing sequel to one of my favourite RPGs of all time - FF6. But hey, that's just me.

I don't really like the FF series, but I recently started playing Crisis Core and it's a pretty good game. I like that the combat is more action oriented rather than turn based. I at least have the OPTION of trying to dodge an attack this time around. ;)
