Not much to the topic, but I recently found out there is a Walter Bernhard in the show Vampire Diaries. I've never seen the show, but I'd like to think there was some influence there at least in the name.

Probably. Vampire dairies was a novel series before it came to TV. I work at a bookstore part-time so I've seen them come it fairly recently. The first book came out in 1991 and LoI was 20+ years after that fact. So yeah...probably.

OK so, the only reference I found for this is from a fanon wiki, giving a lengthy bio to the character that vaguely aligns with the Castlevania Walter's time period. (https://thevampirediariesfanon.fandom.com/wiki/Walter_Bernhard) But "fanon" means the character isn't official- It was made up by fans. This is explained on their homepage as well. The image used in the linked page is of Bobby Axelrod, a character in another show called "Billions". (https://www.vulture.com/2017/02/billions-recap-season-2-episode-1.html)
My take is: There is no Walter Bernhard in Vampire Diaries.

Yeah, checks out. Again, even if there was one, I don't know crap about the show, but it seems you're right.

Nice sleuthing, Plot.. (some of us are spotting the red herring, you’re next door already prepping sashimi…)
I noticed I could only find this in wiki pages that Walter Bernhard became Niklaus Mikaelson. (About as appealing as the Gabriel>became Mathias>Became Dracula theory)
Interestingly, given Mikael’s children (Niklaus included) carry the Mikaelson name, one assumes this is due to the children literally being ‘Mikael’s sons(/daughters)’..
PS: They need to remake LoI.
