This would be great if true, but I’m very skeptical. There’s been rumors of Castlevania coming back with a new traditional game (besides all the cellphone/compilations) for a very long time, none of which have come to pass. A triple AAA title at this point seems unlikely; they will most likely play it safe like the more recent Grimoire of Souls. But we shall see.

To be honest, i tend to believe that it's going to be another game following lords of Shadows, but at this point i'm all in for getting surprised, if there is something entire else.

Super Castlevania 4 Remake. In an RDR2 quality open world and massive macabre castle, please.

I’m wondering what a Lords of Shadow 3 will even be about? The ending was very final; Dracula stops Satan from destroying the world, he then glances into the Mirror of Fate, then shatters it for some reason, then walks back into the church like nothing happened. In my opinion it was a very lame conclusion, and I don’t even know where else they can go moving forward. Is Gabriel/Dracula still a bad guy? That’s never really answered. What happens to Alucard? It was just so abrupt that I don’t even care to see what happens next, because the developers didn’t know what happened next either.

But stranger things have happened so maybe they’ll surprise me.

Whoa...blast from the past!  It's good to see you still checking in here.

I'll believe it when I see it, but Konami does seem to be bringing back its old franchises. The new trailer for Metal Gear Solid 3 remake looks great, and they also recently released a new Silent Hill, Contra, and the Haunted Castle remake.

But Castlevania as a full AAA title? I find that harder to believe. It's been a long time since Lords of Shadow and I feel like the gaming landscape has changed a lot since then.

i’d personally be a little surprised if Mercury steam picked up the next main Castlevania game however if they did, I kind of suspect it would have no ties with the Lords of shadow continuity just because I think they feel like they already told the story they wanted to tell.

I enjoyed Lords of Shadow but I have zero desire to see it return.

I have a hard time imagining where Castlevania would fit in today's landscape. So far they tried to put Castlevania on a modern business model, in the form of Grimoire of Souls, but that didn't really work out. They have also given us the first new classicvania in 14 years, the Haunted Castle remake, but it was basically a set of new levels for Adventure Rebirth made to be a bonus for the Dominus collection.

Possibly something like Bloodstained, a metroidvania with modern 3d graphics? The market is super saturated with metroidvanias, so that doesn't seem like an obvious answer either.

Not sure what to expect from a new Castlevania.

maybe saturated, but full of games people may wish were real Castlevania games.  maybe it can take back its crown?

*Snore* this rumor has popped up every single year for the past....what...8-9 years? Outside of Grimoire and the collections, we've seen nothing (I'd argue Haunted Castle Revisited IS something but to each their own.)

I honestly just don't see Konami sinking serious money into another Castlevania reboot. Maybe they will, but if they were to do it, I honestly don't see how they'd make a new 3D Castlevania NOT play like a God of War clone i.e. like LoS. I think it's doable, but Konami's track record lately has been....amazingly good so far. MGS3 Remake is looking fantastic and that's supposedly being done in house. Silent Hill 2 Remake was apparently excellent. But Castlevania? the timeline is so fudged up at this point, they may have to reboot it i.e. like Capcom did with the RE games. Something that pays respects to the classics but updates them for a modern era.

As long as they are staying within the original timeline/remaking it, I'm in. No more alternates or LoS style games. No more spin offs.

If you remember the previous rumor was consisting that there were 2 collection games and a new main Castlevania game.

I believe we have the collection games, advance and dominus, so one can only hope.

If I had to make a guess, I'd say it's a 3D Collection of some type.
In this, we have options:

-Lament, Curse, 64, Legacy, Judgment
-Lords of Shadow 1, Mirror of Fate, Lords of Shadow 2.

It is likely easier to do a LoS Collection than emulate the PS2/N64/Wii titles cleanly across the current generation of systems.
Personally, I hope it is the first item, but it is likely the second.

I believe a LoS collection already exists, albeit a half-assed one, but it’s there

I’ve been itching to replay Lament of Innocence for years, Curse of Darkness I felt was a chore to get through, CV64 was equally obnoxious. I’m indifferent towards Legacy of Darkness & Judgment, but I would love for them to put Adventure ReBirth as the extra bonus since it’s literally inaccessible for some reason. The Arcade has little to no chance of ever seeing a home port & Resurrection will always be that unfinished demo that they’ll never revisit.

I have a feeling MS is doing the same faux "Lords of Shadow" thing and then later reveal "Its a Castlevania game" with the recently announced Blade of Fire. Albeit this could just be a sequel to their Blade of Darkness OG title.

Given it already has a publisher and it's not Konami, it's not a Castlevania game.

Funny thing, earlier I was thinking of posting a question on here to ask what everyone would want in a new 3D Castlevania title.

Part of me is hoping for a Konami/ArtPlay collaboration (a new Igavania sequel would be nice!).
