Title: Which One?!?!
Post by: Jowceph on June 19, 2008, 11:18:31 AM
This is to anyone and everyone...

Okayy guys i'm about to buy either "Castlevania: Lament of Innocense" or "Castlevania: Curse of Darkness".

So basically which one would you guys recommend please?

thanks if you can give any advice ;D

Personally, I'd say that Lament of Innocence seems a bit more linear and leans more towards your typical hack n' slash then Curse of Darkness.

While on the other hand Curse of Darkness allows you to level up yourself, your weapons, and your Innocent Devils. That and the game seems larger overall with plenty of items to collect and thankfully an adjustable camera.

Thats just my opinion I guess....both are good games, but LoI is more kill this enemy kill that enemy, beat the boss.

CoD is more, level up this weapon make that weapon get this innocent devil beat these enemies go here go there fight this boss, whatever. (Apology for the run-on sentence.)

But you get my point.

:P

It all depends on what you want.

I think i might go for CoD, but i was also wondering that it says in the review that there's a tower with fifty floors continuously hacking and slashing to your heart's content.
obviously i would love that and i'm guessing there's better gameplay.

i spose as you said it's what you want, but thanks all the same  :)

Lament seems a lot more smoother. You should just get both.

Each game has its own faults, but I'd say that LoI has like a point or two over CoD.

Okayy then.

right say if i was going to buy both of them, but which would you buy first?

i'm just saying this because it'd make it easier and i would buy both but it's a good question anyhow.  :P

In that case, purchase LoI first. It'll tell you the origin of the whip, why Dracula is who he is, etc.

if you can, both, but if only one i would actually say curse, since it will last longer.

Lament of Innocence is a more focused and carefully planned game. COD is all over the place in terms of level design, but both feature pretty crappy level design anyway.

LOI just doesn't drag the fact out. The game is the right length for the content; whereas COD is too big for its repetitive britches.

COD has more RPG content, but again it only feels like it's trying to be bigger than it needs to be.

On the other hand, COD has the better soundtrack.

Both have good boss fights.

I bought Lament first, and then Curse. But after playing Curse I fell in love with it, but now I like Lament better. If you like adventure, many characters, an engaging storyline, and one badass vampire hunter, get Curse. If you like dark, gothic loniliness with a tragic story, and one cool vampire with the ability to control swords with his mind, get Lament. It's as simple as that.

Tbh i think i may as well get LoI first because as whoever said it explains wuite a bit like dracula and why he's got the whip or something. but otherwise i'm still gonna buy CoD coz they're only

I guess it makes sense to get LoI first, but CoD is by far the better game IMHO.

I agree. Neither are quite good as far as good games go but CoD is closer to what the series has become these days only in (poorly done) 3D. LoI is more old school and more like a beatem up but again not well done like DMC or GoW.

Well, I disagree. While I used to love CoD, I now like LoI better... wait, maybe not... Ok, ok, I see them as equals.

A Frappucino is really expensive in food-terms here. >.< You can have three meals already for that price. Not three good meals, but three meals nevertheless. Sometimes I feel guilty about ordering Starbucks coffee when there are people starving out there, but the feeling goes away when I start drinking. >_> Selfish much? ;D

They're both good games.  CoD is longer, more difficult, and has a more interesting main character.  Besides, while I hate to spoil LoI, the fact is that you don't even fight Dracula in it.  Both stories are interesting, but CoD is focused around revenge, which I think is what makes it so interesting.  If you want a short game and you want to learn the origin of the Belmont/Dracula conflict, then get LoI.  If you simply want a decent game with a great story that is challenging and takes a long time to beat, get CoD.

you guys just go and fool yourselves, then face the grim reality, what with signs saying "americans not allowed" or "japanese people only" and such on shops and other places.

Then, later I just said that germany still is the land of racism, not japan. I mean, it's not really, but everyone knows germany only because of wwII and the nazi regieme.

here's an example of japan, quoted by one guy:

Quote
It's just that any language other than Japanese ISN'T JAPANESE [to the japs], and is thus inherently remarkably inferior by comparison. Just like anything (or anyone) else that isn't Japanese is inferior to something, or someone, that is.

That's what they're brought up to believe, even if they're usually just polite enough that most of them wouldn't admit it to foreigners.

This is pretty much true. I hope I'm not offending anyone by saying this, but Japan is one of the most self-ascribed super egos in the world. They just don't act on it so much as think it.

But, unlike the U.S. governement, at least they're not hurting anyone with it.
