I heard a disturbing word about DXC having child Maria in its SotN port, is this true? I have the game, but won't be bothering with this, if Maria isn't the Saturn one. What about the playable Richter; Saturn or PSX vers. one? :-[

In DXC's SotN, she plays more like chibi Maria, but is indeed adult Maria. She can now switch between two sets of subs, and she still has a rolling attack and slide. The triple jump was removed and she now can float vertically up by holding onto an owl.
But yeah her main weapon is the doves she (trained?) in her youth.
Her mode is quite a bit harder than Saturn's, but that's why I like it more. Maria was over-powered in NitM.

Richter's controls are as tight as they were in psx as opposed to his sluggish slow controls from saturn. because dxc sotn is a port of the first japanese psx version of the game with maria added as player/boss, new voice acting and few minor changes.
the game's full of bugs though, since it's the first generation psx version, before all the bugfixed "best" rereleases.
that's what i heard at least. i have no psp.

I did not notice any bugs, personally.
-
I didn't either, and if there are that many they can't be anything major
-
i hear in richter/maria mode you can jump into a wall during the shaft battle to go to dracula. dunno if you need to do the camera trick first or not.
then if you enter a cutscene with the nose devil or green fairy activated the game will crash.
maria's dashes can put you under a floor or inside a wall, especially on slopes.
and so on.
-
I never noticed those bugs/glitches either. o_O Oh well.
-
There are bugs at the game and i have posted two pictures, of one glitch with Maria. When you are the inverted castle's clock where is shaft, if you make a special move that makes maria go fast(i don't remember what is that move) and you fall into the center where is the gap that leads to the room with the subweapons, the screen of the game turns white and if you attempt to go back to the clock, the game freezes!!

I've also heard of that glitch, just not too sure of the details.

I lost them when my computer crashed. But they exist somewhere on a thread inside this forum. I'm just to lazy to search for that thread. Maybe i'll try and find it.
OK!! After some thorough search at the older threads, i found them. They are here:

Wow, we REALLY understand that. ::)
Lol. Just kidding. ;D I'm really friendly. No.. It's just that all I see is a white screen.. Are there no pre-white screen pictures?

I have only taken these two pictures, but at the first picture, you can see Maria at the room with the subweapons!!

I do, but it doesn't help me in the execution of this glitch. :-\

never had the issue myself, as i didn't bother having those familiars out, but that would be the succubus/nightmare sequence. helps that there's a save point 2 screens away if it does happen to anyone though.

I was very angry when I found out that the Maria in the DXC version of SotN had the same abilities as when she was a kid. I would think that she would have some more adult skills like the ones she had in NitM. Of course, I wouldn't want her to be that powerful. Those moves she currently has are too childish. I mean in SotN/NitM she is suppose to be 17. This is just my opinion.
-
I think Maria's just fine, (albeit rather weak) in the new SotN. I think she improved on her powers instead of gaining new ones, and trained her doves more and made her owl into a weightlifter. o_O She should have had a triple jump or something.. >.<
-
Maybe they got inspired by the bird-type IDs from CoD. Btw, in PoR Maria was really strong imo. Spamming doves was just fine to kill any enemy/boss.
-
all her animals are older and more powerful. i'd say that suits her just fine. if you think shes too weak, try item crashing the phoenix.
-
The only prob I have with adult Maria DXC is that her doves really do feel too weak. Course you have those cool animal subs to back her up, but still, it seems like the birdies were stronger in her youth O_o

I agree, they do feel a bit weaker. (Either that or Alucard and Ricther's primary weapons just seem that much stronger. XD )
I didn't notices the glitch(s) being mentioned either, I'll be honest. I'll have to give it another play through now.

Ithink she's too weak altogether. I can't make it three rooms away from the save point without dieing.

I thought I was the only one who experienced that. >_> Especially in the Royal Chapel and succeeding areas. [No, I haven't tried going to the Anti-Chapel, but I bet it's pretty difficult there too..] It feels like Maria is the ultra super duper Hard Mode of SotN. ;D
I'll try playing her again someday, though.

Yay! I'm not alone! And I'm currently attempting the anti-chapel and it is a greater hell that the Tower of Science and Tower of Gears(from Chronicles) combined. ;D

Yeah she does take the most skill to master. But once you get her down most of the bosses are cake.
-
I have even beaten Galamoth with her. It all depends at skill and not power!!

Well, considering what he said, then yeah.
I wonder how long beating Galamoth took? It must have been really tedious/long. o_O show-off. >_> :P

About ten minutes!!
-
Yeah, that's actually pretty long. :P
Oh, and I just fought Karasuman (is that its name? The winged boss that is usually VERY easy for Alucard) using Maria. She was doing 2 damage per dove hit. 2! Goodness. Even with item crashes, it took forever.
-
All these tedious issues with Maria make me want to get the Saturn Version... and a Sega Saturn.... and an action replay...
