I say Trevor, he's so bad ass.
-
My favorite is Juste Belmont. He's wicked awesome, and Harmony of Dissonance is a great game.

This has been discussed many, many, many many times...

I'm going to keep this up, but seriously, it's been overdone.
-
Who would win in a fight? Trevor or Juste? Sorry, just curious.
-
simon. you want to talk about bad ass, the guy had no help whatsoever, braved some of the roughest obstacles, took out a giant bat, medusa, franky(the creature, whatever), the mummy, death and dracula single handedly, got cursed by dracula upon his death, single handedly(ok maybe you could consider people trading and selling stuff to him as a bit of help) traveled transylvania, while feeling the effects of the curse, collecting dracs parts to put him back together and kick his ass again.
worst thing to be said about him is he gets some of the shittiest character redesigns you ever seen.
-
Unfortunately, Konami has yet to really make Simon look nearly as cool as other characters, like Soma, Alucard, Trevor, etc.
-
Well that depends on your definition of cool... I like Simon the way he is in Chronicles. Not that I've played it. :(
Hmm. I'd say it's a close competition between Juste and Richter. :)
-
I haven't played Chronicles either, nor do I know what he looks like in it, so, that's why.
Juste vs. Richter? Goodness, that's tough. I think Juste would win though. He could use his summoning tome, as well as his variety of other spellbooks and sub weapons to win. Though Richter IS tough...It'd be a cray match!
-
Ah well.. Who knows who will win? :P
And taken from the Dungeon:

Simon in Chronicles. :)

Okay, I take it back. He looks pretty awesome.

Okay, I take it back. He looks pretty awesome.
For a girl, and mines Richiter by the way cuz he's the most human.
-
Juste Belmont himself.
-
For a girl, and mines Richiter by the way cuz he's the most human.
...For a girl? Is that supposed to be an insult on Simon's manliness? Or an insult to girls?
...I'm pretty sure RichIter is very human. ...Does that mean the other Belmonts aren't?
-
HOW DARE ANYONE MAKE FUN OF SIMON! I GRIND YOUR SOUL TO DUST! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!
-
Leon Belmont....
The first ass kicker.
Plus Lament of Innocene made him a beast.
Plu he killed his woman and then his best friend.
-
Wait-you like him because he killed a woman? Is this whole topic sexist? Haha, just kidding!
-
Hahahhaha
No because of all the s&^T he had to go through. Hahhaha.
-
Hahaha, okay, I'll take your word for it!
-
yeah, that simon looks cool.... ...until you realize he's wearing a leather dress and matching high heels. you want a simon to go off, this is his original design(as a figurine):

That Simon is the badassest ass kicker ever! And to the guy that said Leon cause he was first I say this to you: Lol n00b!! =D
-
Trevor

In Reply To #21
Oh yeah! I also say Trevor. Don't call me a noob, but I really like his appearance in CoD. I just find it more interesting than his CVIII Outfit(The cape rules though). Also, his badass-ness. When I first fought him as Hector I was like, "Holy Crap! He's kicking my ass!" because I didn't expect him to be as lighting fast as he was. I mean, I didn't even have a chance to move, attack, or pause the game to use some potions. He's truly awesome.
-
Leon did NOT kill his best friend. He never even fought Mathias.
And the first original Belmont was Christopher, it was in the manual for Castlevania that 100 years prior Dracula had been slain by Christopher Belmont, and that now the fate of the world was in the hands of his descendant Simon.
-
Julius.
That fight with him in Aria had to be my favorite Boss fight in a Castlevania title to date.
-
In Reply To #23
Oops, I read that wrong. Though Simon wasn't necessarily the first Belmont in terms of the timeline, Christoper wasn't either. That title belongs to Leon.
-
In Reply To #23
And 100 years prior to Christopher, Trevor killed him. :)
-
In Reply To #26
I was saying the first Belmont to have the title of original Belmont to fight Dracula. As in the first one to be credited as so in a game.
-
Wouldn't it be awesome to just put all the Belmonts in one huge arena and have them fight to the death?! ;D
-
Richter for sure, with Trevor close behind.
-
...For a girl? Is that supposed to be an insult on Simon's manliness? Or an insult to girls?
Insult on his unmanliness in the title, I don't know how iga let that art slip, it's horrible and changing simon's hair to red didn't help.
.I'm pretty sure Richiter is very human. ...Does that mean the other Belmonts aren't?
no, it's just he has a known GF and he seems to interact with society and be more of like an ordinary guy. (with holy power). Leon is too but after him they seem to become like hermits until the 18th century.

Yeah, but you can't possibly say that the Kojima Simon is the worst. I actually quite like it. It's much better than the "Jolly Green Giant" from Haunted Castle. :P

We're talking about artwork. Not in game sprites.

Yeah, but Kojima is better than "Monster Simon".

Hahahha alright pal, calm down step away from the Castlevania for awhile.

well, somewhere between leon and trevor, people discovered the belmonts power to fight the undead and grew to fear them. you'd live like a hermit too if people crapped their pants every time you drew near and asked you to leave. trevor changed that by being the first to truly destroy dracula.

Actually I think he probably made it worse along with chris who let his son get kidnapped and raise hell. I like how Richiter was all like screw you guys I'm here to stay and your gonna like it and got himself a real wife instead of a one night stand like I think simon, trevor/ralph and chris had to do. (though I could be wrong as this has yet to be explained)
-
it was trevor that changed peoples mentality toward belmonts, and sypha belnades was his wife. do know castlevania 3 at all, or do you just know curse of darkness trevor?

whoops. (smacks self in head) Sorry just woke up. It's hard to tell if their relationship went anywhere though and I know they had a thing but most of us have had many partners, I can't remember the exact ending text but I believe CVIII doesn't say they got married, it just says they had a thing for each other. (goes to mr p's to read it again).
Yep just confirmed it, all the ending says is that they liked each other didn't see a mention of marraige or commitment or anything.
do know castlevania 3 at all, or do you just know curse of darkness trevor?
oh yeah III is my fav. one just had a senior moment there.
-
every time you drew near and asked you to leave.
eh? he was practically banished and more than likely the villagers mob rushed him until he managed to escape them.
the villagers in middle ages were a bunch of uneducated morons who believed everything the church told them. witch hunts anyone? it's not like they came to someone they thought was a demon and said "can you plz go away?"
i mean, they burned lisa on a stake because they thought she was a witch while in reality she was just making medicine. i don't think they'd just ask trevor to leave if he actually possessed powers that they'd believe came from the devil, if they went and murdered someone for who they had no evidence on.
-
maybe i took the american version too seriously "the townspeople became afraid of the belmonts super-human power and asked them to leave the country"
in the japanese version, the church/pope it/himself hired ralph/trevor, so there's another factor in clearing the belmont name.

Harmony of Dissonance's game amnual says that Juste is gifted in magic because he inherited the genes from the Trevor Belmont/Sypha Belnades union. it is official canon that they marry and have at least one child.
-

you're forgetting that most of early english game "translations" in those times were pulled out of their asses. in most cases they simply took few pointers (names, some event but sometimes not even that), then erased the rest of the storyline and wrote their own stuff as they saw fit.

y'know I was reading the segment on the story here and I realized in essence the plot really isn't all that bad, it's how it's carried out in teh game.
The rinaldo backstory part was awesome as well as Leon leaving the church, but mathias telling Leon the location just didn't jive.
If I was Leon I'd be like "how the hell do you know all this if you've haven't set foot out of this room for 6 months?" They should have revised it better. And Mathias should have actually combined his sould with Walter's soul and become dracula as a whole new entity.
The whole stone thing also was really hard to follow and if Mathias stole walter's stone, wouldn't night follow him whereever he went as a result? And did Mathias combine all 3 at the end or just the ebony and crimson or what? I mean it's just small stuff like that that adds up and chips away at it.

well, first up, not everybody reacts to news like "your fiancee was kidnapped by a vampire" with logic.
mathias seemingly left the castle, but even so it was walter who put the eternal darkness curse on. having death steal walters soul into mathias' stone negated walters curse, so mathias himself would have to initiate his own eternal darkness curse.
walters reaction to elisabthesa's death? again people react differently. thinking that by following gods will everything will be alright, and coming back to find your wife dead (provided you actually loved her), that could cause one to lose their faith, or possible insanity even. going by other works of fiction, you can have brilliant, yet crazy characters. either way it all boils down to different people having different reactions.
cause of her death was pretty much implied to be a terminal illness(or whatever passed for terminal in those days anyway).
leon's only goal, originally, was getting sara back, so it makes sense that he would take her to rinaldo for safe keeping. this, of course, leads to tragedy and furthers his resolve to finish walter off, which he intended to do before he got her back anyway.
-
I never did understand why so many crapped themselves when Simon wasn't shown as a generic Conan clone.
-
I think the reason why I liked LoI so much is the overall game play and the fun I had with the game. I liked the story when I first got the game for Christmas, I played for like 3-4 days in a row taking breaks here and there. It was the PS2 first Castlevania. I also enjoyed the fighting and the ability to fight that giant dungeon monster. Good game to me.

but from what I understand it's the ebony stone that actually causes the curse though isn't it?

see that's what I'm talking about though, it goes back to the nature of life itself, if it was god's will that she die he shouldn't have questioned it. Not if he was willing to kill himself for the church, logically that doesn't make any sense. People get sick and die it happens. He was a weak pansy if it affected him so greatly that he had to denounce his own faith. Your woman died get over it and stop obsessing, find another woman. That's what Hector did. He was a bigger man than Mathias could ever hope to be.

let's say the stone causes it, but the bearer, who is now mathias, must will it.

that's the point here, that mathias was a weak man, who gave into darkness to become dracula.

Simon Belmont from the original Castlevania, barbarian looking and able to just grab bats and eat them shredding their bodies, all that is man.

Are you like 12? Because you have no idea how the human mind works at all. If you actually love someone and they die you don't just get over it. Many many many people lose faith over the death of a loved one, even priests. And the fact that he was fighting wars, risking his own life for god just made it even worse. he did not lose his faith really, he still believe completely in god he just hated him for taking away his loved one.

Over-generalizing a bit much? Not everyone is like that. Plus, Mathias was obviously a sick and twisted person, so that only adds to it. TLB knows what he's talking about, I agree with him. Just move on, simple as that.
-
In Reply To #62
that is ridiculous. People mourn the death of a spouse for years. Some take it far harder than others. I did not say everyone, but honestly a majority of people cannot just move on, that is a fact. Look it up, it's common psychology knowledge. Losing a spouse is the 2nd most traumatizing thing a human can go through, right after the death of a child. You guys are either little kids who have no experience with this, or just trying to sound tough.
-
he does bring up a hell of a point. especially the longer they've been married. it can be quite a devastating bond severance, and you have to take into account that, psychologically, which affected him physically, mathias grew frail because of the loss of elisabetha.
