Personally, I think he forgot about it.

Of course he hasn't forgot about it, but he IS stalling an' making sure no one could possibly yell at him for continuity errors --
RIGHT,IGA?! GOT THAT?! NO CONTINUITY ERRORS!
KTHXBAI

maybe it's just not going to happen. the story is pretty much told already anyway. did he actually say he was going to, or is this just fan speculation?
-
I'm 110% certain the 1999 game is coming. Why wouldn't it? IGA's putting games everywhere else in the timeline, so why would he deliberately not make a game with Julius Belmont, the most obvious and arguably most EPIC part of the Castlevania timeline?

Here's an excerpt from a gaming magazine I saved from a while back:

I have the full article if anyone is interested.

IGA creating more time paradoxes.

Didn't that supposed Konami employee at gamefaqs say there's one being made for the Xbox 360?
-
well there was news that there were two possible 1999 games planned. one for portable and another version for console (Xbox360).
-
That 2 1999 game/xbox360 tidbit was just a rumor which turned out to be FALSE. Konami is busy with developing Judgement & Ecclesia so whoever said otherwise is lying.

There's no doubt in my mind that Iga has this entire plotline planned out very well. I'm sure whatever he's planning, in the end, the whole thing will tie together perfectly, and all we can do is wait and see what he has planned. :)
-
My guess... He is waiting until they do a great 3-D game. Then build off of that for the biggest most epic game in the series. I would be very dissapointed if it is a handheld title.
-
I don't think its happening. We already know the story, Julius kills Draula and the castle is sealed in a solar eclipse, yadda yadda yadda. Personally, I don't want even want this game. It would boring for the reason that I already know whats going on, plus its connected to the Sorrow games and I simply don't like Julius Belmont.

There will be a game. Did you read that interview snippet? We know very limited details about the game. I want to see how the whole things panned out.

I did read. I know there will be one. I'm just expressing how much I wish it won't happen.

So you hope that we get one less Cv game for no reason? that is... strange. We need this game, we've been waiting for 5 years. I say the sooner they can do it the better. Though I do not want them to do it until they can make it a very good 3-D action game.

No, I'm saying I don't want it because I think it will be boring, seeing asd we already know what happens.

Um... DXC and Cv Chronicles are two of my fav. games. We knew what happened. We know very very little of what happens in the 1999 battle. we know Julius kills Dracula, we know that the hero kills Dracula in every game. Spoilers, Shanoa kills Dracula in OoE.
-
Spoilers, Shanoa kills Dracula in OoE.
you wasn't supposed to say that.

CVfan won't play OoE now, he knows what happens. You've ruined his game experience.
-
:o
How dare you spoiler it for me? I had absolutely no idea that would happen!!
But seriously, I'll still play a 1999 game, simply because it is CV, I just won't enjoy it, rather, I'd just prefer not to.
-
The main character kills Dracula?! Oh my gosh! I don't believe it! That's never been done before! :o
Seriously though, considering I'm too lazy to really go online and figure out what happens in Order of Ecclesia, the whole thing will be a total surprise to me (besides killing Dracula, but I could've guessed that...) and I'm actually expecting the old priest guy to go evil and betray you, then Albus comes and saves you. Believe it or not, I had that hunch before I watched the video, but the video simply supported it. Again, it's just a hunch.
-
And then, Shanoa and Albus fall in love and then.... Quincy Morris "happens"? Because Albus is actually a Morris? And Shanoa is somehow connected to the Belmonts?
-
...I don't want even want this game. It would boring for the reason that I already know whats going on, plus its connected to the Sorrow games and I simply don't like Julius Belmont.
Pffffft!
Julius PWNS Soma. Nuff said. This guy (in his youth) is gonna be the next best thing since Ricther: you watch.

I know. I prefer Julius to Soma, but still, I dislike Julius.
-
Soma's not bad, but I don't like Julius. I don't think he deserves his own game, but I suppose it can't be helped. Although, wasn't he assisted by other vampire hunters? Julius could always be a side character for cut-scenes...
-
lol there are actually people who want to keep real belmonts on the sidelines and use someone unrelated as main? :o
I'm actually expecting the old priest guy to go evil and betray you, then Albus comes and saves you.

i'll laugh if something so predictable and cliche happens.
-
Well to be honest, I wouldn't mind if I played as Alucard in 1999. When I was playing as Julius in AoS and DoS I hated how crappy the whip was in those games, so I don't like him much either. Although I would want to see how young Julius works out, I wouldn't mind Alucard either.
-
Regarding the events of 1999, it doesn't matter that we know what happens.
How it happens is what's important. It's IGA's job to make that interesting.

Fine, if you want something less cliche, maybe Albus is really an alien in disguise and he's come to abduct Shanoa and bring her back to their mothership and use her brain to power their mega-cannon and destroy the earth, but then Dracula wants to rule the earth, so he uses his power to ressurect all the Belmonts and teams up with them to infiltrate the ship, defeat their alien army, kill their leader, and destroy the cannon! Then, the ship is about to explode, Metroid escape music comes in and they all escape, but then just when they approach the exit, they find brainwashed Shanoa who has been sent to kill them by a surviving member of the alien race, and although they defeat and save Shanoa, the ship explodes and they all die. THE END! ;D
-
^ I'll bet that actually happens. :o
Anyway, I think there IS going to be a 1999 game, and IGA is stalling. I mean, they have to make it PERFECTLY since it's going to be the most epic game in the series, right? It's a big event... *So here I am hoping and being optimistic*
I like Julius well enough, just not how he controls that much. He's going to be really cool as a main character. ...But I also wouldn't mind Alucard/Genya to be the main character. :)

And he'll fail... >.> I don't think he can really make it all that interesting. Still, I'm grateful that hes still keeping CV going, I just wish it wasn't so bland.
In Reply To #29
Well, that'd be the 2nd vampire story I know of that deals with Aliens, the other one is awesome, so it might not be too bad.
Oh yea, Julius is gonna be "cool" just like Richter being "cool" but Trevor still owns them all, him and Simon.
-
Let's hope my Order of Ecclesia prediction doesn't come true, so we can actually have a 1999 game! ;D
-
i stopped reading at the "alien"
and what you guys posted and i quoted is a really cliche animu plot twist, abused too often.
-
i'll laugh if something so predictable and cliche happens.
I guarrantee something that cliche will happen. Maybe nopt that exactly, But I think it won't be what I said. Still if it is, somebody here owes me $20! ;D

Aww, it would make a pretty cool game though. You should read it.
