I feel like this game doesn't get enough credit, which is a shame really. Two intertwining stories, great characters, Fun gameplay, and of course, Doll Master.
Plus it has amazing music!
Too many people have never played this so I seriously suggest playing it.
It's from the group that did Brave Fencer Musashi, so it's obviously amazing.

Back when I pre-ordered Chrono Cross, I was given a bounus gift of a sample of that game's soundtrack in a neat little lockable cardboard/plastic case. Little did I know they would also hand me a second soundtrack sampler from a game I had never heard of or ever cared to know about.
I have since considered myself lucky for discovering Threads of Fate. The one lovey-dovey song on that album (Rue and Claire) was so beautfiul and articulated, I had to know more about this game, its world and its characters (what could demand such a theme?).
Years later I discovered the game in a Gamestop bargain bin (along with another underrated classic, The Granstream Saga). And I played through the first few stages. It honestly had a good sense of a Brave Fencer Musashi feel, and I loved the plaforming to boot.
The thing is, I was pulled away by Zelda TP, and so I forgot about the title for awhile. But lately I've been thinking about revisiting it to finish it; especially since I still didn't hear that wonderful tune in-game yet.
Recently, I've been starved for the cuter side of gaming (maybe cuz a replay of Eternal Darkness proves so depressing -- in a good way mind you), and having started up Sky Gunner, I see: Threads of Fate, We Love Katamari, Dark Cloud 2, Wild Arms 3, MegaMan Powered Up and Dragon Quest VIII calling me again.
Summer's a feel-good time; so why shouldn't my games be too?

It's an action/adventure with heavy focus on combat. Cute style and humor.
Again, all you have to realize is that the Brave Fencer team was responsible for it.
You might even say it's Goemon-like.

I played a demo of it that came with Vagrant story. I really like old ps1 rpgs.

The thing thats really great about it is, yeah, it does have that cute humorous take, which is great, but thats only really for one story, Mint's.
Rue's is a little more serious and although it still has that cuteness to it, it's more or a revenge story.
From the start of the game you get to choose to play as Mint or Rue and it has a similar intertwning story.
And yes, it's also known as Dew Prism in Japan

I seriously suggest checking out track 124 "A Chance Meeting" I would say thats by far the best piece in this game

I don't want to rip on a game you seem to like and even consider a classic. But I'm just curious: what did you like so much about the Granstream Saga?
I thought it was a rather standard almost textbook rpg. Nothing awful, it just didn't inspire me.

Holy crap, I was looking for the name of this game for ages. Back when I was ten, I rented this game, and damn was it awesome! Action RPG, and the male character could turn into any enemy you beat (if I remember correctly). There was so much variety it was amazing. Definitely worth buying if you see a copy. Thanks for the thread, prof!

Had some good characters and the story is very interesting and well presented (for its time).

Game was fun, I don't know if its still around or something. I should still have it.
I beat the game already though.... its not super awesome or anything though. It was pretty fun though, no doubt.

I DLed this after I saw this thread and played it for a while. It was fun but completely lost me when I got to the "shes not home play while you wait" scenes. Just too over the top and boringly repetitive for me to care to continue after the first lil "stage"
I liked the fuck outta it up to that point tho.
