Tetris DS of course. What better way to pass the time is there than playing Tetris? Other than that, New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart DS come to mind as well.

New Super Mario Bros. pales in comparison to the likes of Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure. It's deliciously ironic, actually.
Other than those two, assuming you've played the other two DS Castlevanias, I would recommend:

Definetally pick up Elite Beat Agents. It's a DS game that not many people bought, but is amazingly addictive and challenging.
Also, the Fist of the Northstar reference reference always gets me loling in this game.

Contra 4 is the only game I could see myself paying full price for. There's lots of DS games I'd pay $5 for, of course.
I'd actually like to try out Ninja Reflex (or whatever it's called, lol).
Also: Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword.

Metroid Prime Pinball is an unsuspecting hours upon hours of fun. Definitely one of the most unappreciated games for the DS.
Meteos came out around launch time and is shitloads of fun as well.
Trauma Center Under the Knife can get addicting and draw you in pretty fast.
Contra 4 is awesome for the oldskooler in you.
And Guitar Hero: On Tour may require headphones to enjoy the sound more, but it's a pretty fun game too. Controls are pretty nice.

What? No. That kind of thing applies for NSMB, but mostly to those who refuse to see how derivative it is.
Contra 4 is a genuinely good game. Excellent graphics, animation, music, and gameplay. It just FEELS like a Contra 4, and that's fantastic.
It'll kick your ass initially, though it's actually quite balanced. It's the best kind of difficulty for a game.
You also get the NES Contra and Super C as unlockables.

'cuz I love MegaManZX and ZX Advent, as well as the Phoenix Wright games.
Nanostray and Nanostray 2 (part 2 more so) are decent shmups for the system.
Final Fantasy Tactics A2 is pretty good so far (I've had it and have been playing it nonstop since a few weeks ago when it came out).
Advance Wars: Dual Strike and Advance Wars: Day of Ruin are good too.
Hotel Dusk: Room 213 and Trace Memory are good point-n-click adventure/story games.
There's so many other games for that system that are good, just can't think of 'em off the top of my head right now.
As I've said before, the DS is the new SNES.

I think you should try Final Fantasy III. Excellent game, and it's long enough to keep you ammused until Order of Ecclesia comes out.

took all the greatest contra games ever made and combined them into one cart. A def. must buy for anyone who like shooting the crap out of aliens with guns.

Space Invaders Extreme is a good one to have around.

the phoenix wright games are neat.
they're visual novel type games with a lot more interaction. you play the role of a defense attorney and have to investigate as well as battle in the court to prove your client's innocence.
it requires you to think to figure out the motives/identity of the criminal though and some connections are kind of obscure to figure out, so if you just look for some brainless fun without having to think or read, it's probably not a good game for you. otherwise they're great titles.

I had my DS ever since it came out. I have the DS castlevanias, the DS megamans (starforce included, never played BN. Actually, I didn't really like SF, since it's more damn repeative than my final fantasy 3 DS), mario kart, New super mario, YGO nightmare troubador (this one was just plain figgin' boring), Lunar Knights, pokemon diamond version, and uh . . . nintendogs. Nintendogs is actually my sister's though.
FFIIIDS was also a damn long game, it isn't even funny. Too me 70 hours to beat it. Not including the 80+ hours that I died and had to back track like forever since I never really saved much. I also hated the fact you HAD to level up to beat some bosses. (Last boss is a big one). It was very fun when I was playing it, but when I look back, it should of been fustrating, but instead turned into one of my best lasting games. It's more of a paradox.
The ones I heard interesting is contra 4 and prime pinball. Not sure why pinball, but if contra 4 has two previous contra games in it, that might be a reason to get it. Three games in one, score. I also don't need to get the others, since it's in the same cart. Double score.
Is prime hunters any good? I loved the 2D side scroller of both the GBA ones, but I despise 3D first person games for reasons unknown. Don't know why, I just hate them.
So can cantra 4 have the those other games in it playable before the actual game, or they unlockables? I never played contra before.

Prime Hunters is alright, from what I've seen. I own it but I've not played it (this is true for many games I Own).
However, when I typed MegaMan, I was specifically referring to the ZX one, not the Battle Network ones. ZX is awesome.

Some people do that, unintentionally or not. For instance my brother makes good money, he likes to buy things yet rarely gets around to use/enjoy them because of other priorities.
I'm guilty of this disease, as well :'(

It's not like I don't WANT to play them, but the problem is that with work, a social life, and other priorities, I just do not find the time.
However, I still want to support good games/franchises, so I get them. Plus, I always have hope that someday I'll have a chance to play them.
There are oohhhhhhhhh so many games I own (legal copy too, not bootleg) that I haven't even gotten started on. Hell, there's some that still have the shrinkwrap on 'em!
It's terrible.
Someday when I'm off on Vacation and have nothing to do, I'll play some of 'em... but it is likely that I'll do other things like travel or do some hobbies like art or music or something, and once again they'll be put to the side.

My main reason for this is that a lot of games go out of print quickly, and most of the games I buy are usually around $25-30, so I figure I'd rather buy them now and not play them till later on than to pay more for used copies when I'm finally ready to play.
Anyway, I suggest Hotel Dusk, Elite Beat Agents, Sonic Rush, Contra 4, and Mega Man ZX. And to the dude who said NSMB is poor and derivative, eat my balls. :o Sonic Rush Adventure is such a shitty piece of fuck compared to NSMB and the first Rush.

It only starts sucking when you get to Sky Babylon. Before that, It's pretty good.

I just didn't like the whole map/"adventure" aspect, and the levels just weren't as fun as Rush's, even from the get-go. Plus, whoever that is doing the music and emulating Hideki Naganuma's style for the first game is a total hack 'cos they're not doing it right. Everything about this game, to me, pales in comparison to the original. Sonic Rush re-sparked my interest in the series, and Adventure let me down again hard. Glad I stole it from the Internetz and didn't have to pay for it.

The coral cave theme was good, though. That's about it.

Hrm, you're certainly the vulgar sort. Truth be told though, it only makes you seem like a fool on the internet.
Sonic Rush Adventure was an improvement on the original in many ways. Superior level design, the inclusion of online play, the ability to choose from either Blaze or Sonic to play as on the fly, the challenge of mission mode, and superior bosses simply make the game seem like a general improvement in my eyes. Also, they got rid of the "kill all the enemies in this room to proceed" sections, thank god.
Additonally, you seem to blowing Naganuma's absense way out of proportion, as the soundtrack was still very good. Pirate's Island, that Ghost Ship level, Coral Cave, Sky Babylon, and the bosses (standard, final, extra) all had excellent themes, just to name a few off of the top of my head.
Also, for the person who complained about the submarine, I really have no clue what you're talking about. The whole sequence was based on matching your attacks with the beat of the music. Unless you have trouble recognizing this, there's no problem with it.

Anyways, get ZX, but not advent. Most of the bosses in advent are pushovers and there's no challenge except in the last half of the final area. >:(

They are mainly rpgs and they take a long time to finish and with work, school, weight lifting, music...it takes me a loooong time. I just bought some old ps1 games before they get even more expensive.

I was just sayin' I don't really want a RPG game. Much too boring for my tastes. I had enough of them already. Racing games too, no racing games.
I was also sayin' I have both ZX and ZXA, yet some are still trying to recommend it.

I'm with Beac: Puzzle Quest is exceelent. Not really an RPG, it's like a puzzle game first with RPG aspects. It's freaking awesome.
Rune Factory, the new branch of the Harvest Moon series, but now they've added RPG elements lie fighting monsters to capture and train to work on your farm.
Nanostray 1 is beautiful, bt it has some interface probs.
For some awesome visual brain puzzles, Picross DS is a win. You use the clues by the given numbers to try to discover the hidden picture.
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. The spiritual successor to Wind Waker, and it makes very clever use of the stylus, but yeah it takes some getting used to to control it. I like it even better than Wind Waker, personally.
BTW I just found out I OWN Sonic Rush! I forgot all about it. I heard it's good though; so I gotta get back to that one.
So yeah, I too have trouble keeping up these days on all the games I buy. Sometims I even forget I have them. It's not that I don't appreciate them; it's that I have trouble finding the time for all of them, as has been stated by several here.

A more updated version of FFIII with better charaters, story, and voice acting? Seems good to me.
I got over not wanting another RPG already. It was a one or two year thing though. Yeah.

The World Ends With You is pretty good. It's got real-time combat, not turn-based as with other RPGs.
Contra 4, as most everyone has said, is also really good. Without spoiling anything, pay special attention to Level 4 and the boss of Level 7. Those are quite possibly two of the coolest moments in 2D video game history. 8)

There are also lots of side-programs/software for the DS, like the Kanji writing stuff (100% useful for import players) and that KORG thing, which will emulate an advanced keyboard, wow.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2
If you are a fan of both, RPGs and strategy and don't care about a free acessible world, this game can bring hundreds of hours of fun, if you really want to get all jobs and do all missions.
Mario and Luigi - Partners in Time
A really fun and nicely made Mario RPG. Everyone should play it. It's funny as hell at some times too.
If you liked the old Mana games, never EVER buy children of mana. It's basically a dungeon crawler with way-too-easy-bosses and like no diversion.
I dunno, there might be loads of other great games for DS, I just can't remember now.

I just wanna throw in a full-thrust FIST TO THE SKY recommendation for Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. Only played it for like an hour but it's rocking me. I love these kinds of games, but don't know of too many like them. Action RPGs and Zelda-type games are the bomb-diggity.
