Post by: Cypress on July 16, 2008, 04:58:36 PM
You guys see the new thing comin out for the wii to make the motion 1:1? I hope this works and I hope developers actually use it instead of being lazy.

You mean the Wii Motion Plus?  Yeah I saw it.  LightSaber battles will be interesting.

I hope Star Wars: Force Unleashed gets delayed a bit so that the 1:1 will be used with it, or that the 1:1 will be released before September 16, but more than likely the former will be the reality if it happens at all.

Wii Music definitely intrigued me as far as the 1:1 controls, and a lot of games could benefit from it if there were updates or remakes. Red Steel immediately comes to mind.

I don't see it being much help in 3rd person games. And as for RS2.....I hope the developers quit.
The way developers are with the wii im not sure if they would use it unless it is easier than waggle controls. (typed on wii...)

There's a new attachment (looks almost like a MemoryPak from the N64 days) for the Wii that connects seamlessly to the bottom of the WiiMote.

What it does, is render your movements on the screen far more accurately than the regular Wiimote.  As such, precision movements become possible.

The lag in the cursor becomes more in-tune with your hand movements, and games such as, say, Tennis, would have your swing be far more affected by your movements while serving.

In short, it would provide a more realistic experience depending on your arm/hand movements.

That's the reason I mentioned the light-saber battles.  Rather than mapping just one function to the sword, it can accurately render all your wiimote movements...

But of course, if you're bad at using your hand/arm, it might register that as well...

I imagine this is something developed by Nintendo, right, and they'll be implementing it right away in any upcoming games I hope? Sounds pretty cool. Any idea what the cost for the add-on will be?

I'm sad that Metroid Prime 3 missed out on 1:1. Now it won't seem as revolutionary for the comparison.
