Title: Mugen: Infinity Wars
Post by: MDI on July 20, 2008, 06:31:18 PM
Hello. Most of you are familiar with my "Castlevania: Holy Trials" video that I made a few months back. You were also familiar with my thread titled "Artist's frustration" in which I talked about being stuck on a personal project.

Well, luckily I finally finished the project...
Here it is..my latest video. Nothing amazing, but enjoy.

(Oh, and if Fan Stuff is exclusively for Castlevania-related fan art..thenn I'll make my defense by saying that this has a few Castlevania characters in it! haha)

Oh well. I suppose the CVDF crowd isn't the fighting game type.

*Shrugs*

Luckily I posted on the Mugen Fighter's Guild and got some useful comments. Haha

that's because that game you posted has barely anything to do with cv, and is more of a compilation of random stuff by other people.

I'm a huge fighter fan but Mugen is shit.

Its all good. Like I said, I didn't know whether to assume it was just for CV related fan-art. I know it is now, haha.

What is wrong with the engine? It works just fine.

I've always been of the belief that Fan Stuff was dedicated to all fandom.

it is, but since this is a cv forum, and the game has barely any cv content it's obviously not really popular here.

it does those even in windows mugen. :o

Quote
Laggy
the engine lags like mad once you use more than few helpers.
Quote
limited
you can barely change the title screen, stages are completely non-interactive, the music can't be changed without shoddy workarounds. you can't affect the continue screen looks at all. it's impossible to disable the character select after you continue from losing. you can't define your own portraits on select screen, so you're forced to use the fixed values. so, it's impossible to do animated select screen without some serious hack jobs involving positioning of the cursor which is actually the animation and such.
Quote
glitchy
explods tend to appear incorrectly if spawned by a helper when there's a lot of them. they'll be taking another helper's point of orgin as their own.
Quote
crashy
just press q on title screen.
or, have mp3/ogg music on title screen or select screen, or anywhere else. crash guaranteed if you leave it on for a while. or hell, sometimes the crash will happen on loading, and in rare cases it can even freeze your entire pc.

The latest version is still shit. Serio did a fine job at elaborating why.

Mugen Plus is the latest version,

NOT Winmugen.

-The Mugen creator SYN has made a few interactive stages.

-Q no longer causes an error to quit out.

-I haven't noticed any lag. Maybe close some other programs?

can you link to that new hack then? the last version of it i have didn't have that fixed yet.

the stages he did may seem interactive, but they're only a shoddy hack, the interactive stuff has to be put into each character's code/sprites to work.

edit: got it and tried. it's permanently locked at double resolution (i don't want that, my game is particle heavy and entirely done in low resolution anyway) and where it played fine in my old version it lags here. sorry, but it's useless.
