Is the live action movie happening or what ?
-
2009 Last time I checked IMDB but news is slow and haven't looked in ages.
-
It's still in production, but there hasnt been much info/updates about it in a while. I know the script was totally re-written fairly recently, but that's about it. Here's the IMDB page about it...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0488982/?c=1

There is no hope for this movie.
Forever it will be doomed to a terrible fate.
-
I'm NOT interested in this.
-
To be honest, I hope they wind up canceling the movie.
-
I sure hope not. the script was great, far truer to the games than any other game movie ever made, except maybe MK. But still it has all the characters from Cv3, references to LoI. And elisabeth bartley. =D
-
Which script is this? Where is it?

Agreed,
As much as i'd like a castlevania movie I'd rather not have anything until games to films adaptations prove themself some worth.

PM with your e-mail address and I'll send it to you.

Video Game is not a genre, your point makes no sense. And the only indicator I have (part of the script) is that they are doing a very very good job.
-
As much as I love Castlevania, I have no interest in this movie at all. The only thing it could do is give the franchise a bad name in the eyes of the public non-Castlevania fans, so I just hope they cancel it, to be honest. :P

Stop being so ridiculous. Making the non cv fans hate cv is not in any way the only thing this film could do. Stop being childish. The general population has loved virtually every video game movie released. And none of them were as true to the source material as this movie is shaping up to be.
-

It's not a genre but it is a pretty distinct group of movies. And just about every one has always sucked. Silent Hill was ok, and...
has there been another good one yet?
-
In Reply To #13
I never said it would make everyone hate it, so stop putting words in my mouth. There's no need to over exaggerate, I just stated my opinion.
-
In Reply To #14
Actually no, it is not distinct at all. MK and SH are not similar at all. Neither are Doom Mario Bros. How about RE and Final Fantasy? No, didn't think so.
And Gimph, you said it would make the series look bad in non-fans eyes, you are still equally wrong and it is virtually the same thing.

Thank you
Someone see's the point I was trying to make at least.
#15 - How is it not distinct? They all have one thing in common, they all get their source material from video games.
Secondly I never said anything about them being a genre of their own in the first place, I only mentioned the fact ... sorry.... my opinion... that all Games to Film adaptions have been lacking in the story department or deviate radically from the material they come from and thus need to improve in quality before i put any trust in a film based off a game being any good.

Grouping together video game movies is like grouping together movies based on books, besides coming from the same type of source material they have nothing in common. And the type of source material has nothing to do with a movie or what it is about. Movies are stories on film, regardless of what medium they may be taken from. So I stand by saying grouping video game movies together does not make sense. The Cv movie is shaping up to be atleast as true to the source material as MK was.

Getting back on topic:
... it's.... SUCKING?
-
You'd think they'd have given up on Castlevania movies by now...?
Although, I'm gonna try being optimistic and say it might be good!
-
Stop being childish.
*sigh*
Intolerance to the opinions of others? You're the one who's being childish.
Although, I'm gonna try being optimistic and say it might be good!
I've been trying too. I know that no matter what, the fanboy in me will end up loving the movie, and all it's neat references.
-
Yep. I mean, if a Castlevania movie comes out, we're all going to go and see it. Sure, it might be crap, but we wouldn't know that until we were already in the cinema (or the DVD was already in the drive).
And even if we know it's going to be crap, we're still going to want to see it. We, Castlevania fans, can't NOT see a Castlevania movie.
-
that's why i'll download it. if it'll be crap, i won't lose any money. if it'll be decent i'll have some ammo to discuss, while still not wasting money.
it's a win-win situation. :o
-
I'll prolly at least rent it.

At the very least, we'll have something to laugh about! ;D

There ya go, nice way to look at it.
-
The script I was referring to was the one with Simon & Christopher. I have an in-depth review of that script sitting on my desk. I thought I heard that it was totally re-worked into a Trevor/CV3 story, which is good because the Simon/Christopher script didnt sound too promising...at least not in true CV fashion.

If it's true, that new script will be a lot better. Maybe it will feature Alucard and Sypha. That would be nice. If Alucard is in it, hopefully they will use his SotN look.

Alucard sypha and grant are in it. I told you to pm me your e-mail and I'll send you a part of the script.
-
i hope Alucard is played by Stephen Dorff (of Blade fame)

In Reply To #29
why the elitism? just post the damn script or link to where you found it instead of hoarding it.
-
In Reply To #31
It's a pdf on my pc. And Rogue had the script pulled, so I'd rather not risk openly mass posting it.
-
I heard on Wikipedia that the film will only have a budget of about $50 million. You guys think that's enough to make at least a decent Castlevania movie?
-
i hope Alucard is played by Stephen Dorff (of Blade fame)
I think Stephen Root would do a better job.
-
The potential for a movie like this is epic, but the fail rate is quite in in my opinion...

Stop being so ridiculous.
-
I don't know much about this movie, what it's about or what it's like etc.
I just kinda hope that Konami themselves would make a Castlevania movie, like Squareenix made Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children - 3D animated only. I believe they could do it. I think they did really well in the Curse of Darkness cutscenes. They had really good voice actors and a very nice atmosphere.

Uwe Boll movies are the only ones people don't like. MK, RE, Hit man, Silent Hill, etc... are all loved by the general population. I did look into before I posted, you're just posting your opinion.
-
Thats not true, most people hate Mario and Silent Hill.
-
Look, the main reason everyone doesn't like video game movies is because when they see say... Tomb Raider for example, they expect to see Tomb Raider 1 the game in movie form and when they don't see that, it immediately sucks.
-
Whetever

Did I say they were good? Or that the general public liked them? ::)
Terrible movies make tons of money every day.

Yes you did.
-
In Reply To #43
How does that mean they are good movies? Once again, I never said that, i said the general population likes them, and they do.
-
In Reply To #44
They sort of don't.
-
In Reply To #45
Funny story, they actually do.
-
In Reply To #46
I'd like to lol, but... I just can't. :/
-
In Reply To #46
It'd be a funny story if it were true.
-
In Reply To #41
You're missing Mortal Kombat,DOA, and the uwe boll movies.
-
I really really REALLY hope that this project is canceled.
-
I think that it has potential to be a great action film. I'm not expecting this to be a fantastic film, but it should be a fun action film. I don't expect this game to be focussed on pleasing existing CV fans than making a movie for the mainstream to enjoy.
I think its kinda rediculous to hope that this film gets cancelled, also. What harm is a movie, true or not to source material, going to do to you, or even the game series in general?
-
Did I say they were good?
-
...How?
All he/she/poster asked was whether they said in their post was rather the movies in question were good movies or rather people in general liked them, then he followed by saying he said the latter not the former. So how is that a contradiction of what he said?
No offense or anything, I'm just confused on that one. :P
-
In Reply To #49
DoA was also another failed POS.
In Reply To #53
I think it sounds like did I say that they were good or that the general public liked them?
I got confused too, but after looking at it more, and by what he said, I'm guessing he meant, "Did I say that they were good? I said the general public liked them."
I could be wrong, since that is a confusing as hell sentence to make out. Especially without accents to make it clear that he is putting them together or not.
-
to me it sounds like he said:
"Did I say they were good? Or did i say that the general public liked them?"
but shortened. it sounded like he tried to prove that he denied both of those.
-
In Reply To #55
They were well received by the general public.
Most were bad movies.
All cleared up now children?
-
In Reply To #56
but silent hill wasn;t well received.
-
In Reply To #57
It made about $50 million dollars domestically (it's budget). Not great, but not bad. And about $100 million worldwide. Not what i would call a flop.
-
In Reply To #58
Did it really? I could've sworn it made less than that. Is that up to this day or something?
-
In Reply To #59
Nope, that was it's official box office take. Next time try and research something before basing everything off of your opinion. ;)
-
Finally there's a trailer. :o
