http://www.manningkrull.com/games/curses/
"Curses! is a free, original action-horror game in the tradition of 8-bit classics like Castlevania and Ghosts 'n Goblins. This demo is a sneak-peak of just one of thirteen spooky stages."
Might take a little to load, which is confusing, since there is no gauge shown or anything.

Nice game, but the controls are not very easy. I've made it to the boss and then i lost.

Same here. Three times.
-
I actually think it's pretty easy. I made it to the boss and beat him on my first try.
The graphics are really nice. I only wish it were more than just that one level-- the way they explain how to use curses in the instructions led me to believe we'd actually get to use one. :(
I can't wait until this is finished.

Yes the graphics are nifty. I really liked the dead oxes and the hangmen. Nice ideas.

That was really short and incredibly easy but kinda cool. It took me roughly 2 minutes to beat it on my first try... maybe the difficulty increases further on? :-[ It felt more like G'n'G than CV, but I could definitely see myself playing more...
-
That's pretty good.. I had trouble with the boss because I suck at using the keyboard though.. I hope there's going to be more...
-
I remember this. This was from like a year ago.
...And it's still the same demo. >.<
-
Dead in the water, then? :-\

Ehm, . . .
I think I just stumbled on this page JUST as it was being removed from the server or updated...I don't know. I got the page, but no SWF... I reloaded, and I'm getting the old 'Unable to Connect' message.

what is fanstuff forum material doing here?
-
Well none of the people here actually made it.. Maybe we can discuss CV-like flash games? Are there any besides this one?
-
even then games like that go to fanstuff, because they're fanmade and aren't really a cv topic to discuss. :o

Technically they'd go to Hardcore Gaming, as they're not really Castlevania Fan Games.
-
Well, Jorge, it doesn't really say that its only castlevania fan stuff >.>

I think this'd go to Fan Stuff, because it's something someone made inspired by CV!
Anyway, I hit the page yesterday and got to play it. It's alright. Then found my way to PixelJam.com and got hooked on Dino Run. :]

This is starting to confuzzle me out.
-
ok, then easy mode.
is this an official game made by konami? no? is it inspired by cv? yes? then off to fanstuff. no? to hardcore gaming.
-
Whoever is mod here, feel free to move it wherever you like. Perhaps toss a coin, if heads -> fanstuff, if tails -> hardcore gaming.

I felt the game was pretty interesting in concept. The game played quite well, although with no attack other than a single sword slash (no items/curses in the demo), there made for a bit of repetition. Also, the somewhat unwieldly jumping control made the game seem hard than it could have been. Nonetheless, I feel that this could make for a great flash tribute to the 80's horror games if it is ever completed, which unfortunately doesn't seem likely.
