Title: Best PLAYABLE CV female
Post by: Z.I.R. on July 31, 2008, 05:08:06 PM
If we've done this before, then DELETE DELETE DELETE.

It's just with the upcoming DS CV game I wanted to see who's currently the queen of female protagonists in CV.

Maybe Shanoa, but I'll give my vote when I have actually played her.

Without a doubt, Carrie. She may not be the most powerful, but I don't know many twelve year old girls who can defeat Dracula. Plus, I'm a huge fan of Castlevania 64! ;)

I just get this overwhelming kickass feeling about Shanoa. I just think she's one chick you really don't want to mess with.

Look how cold her eyes are in the portraits of her (not so much the box art though).

I hope she's as awesome as I think she is.

But yeah, Sypha's a damn good pick too; especially since I have played her.

Maria.

I voted for Maria because in NitM, which was only released in Japan and is a remake of SotN with two extra areas in each castle, she is so incredibly powerful.  She can hold up to 999 hearts, has a magic meter to cast spells, can shoot fireballs that can be charged up like megaman, has a triple jump, and can do a flying kick.  The spells she can cast in that game include:  a barrage of fire, a healing spell, an invinciblity spell, summon a dragon (her crush from other games), and an attack that resembles kakashi's lightning blade from Naruto.  She can also use the same sub-weapons as richter.  You can probably check this out on youtube.

You might even say she's.... OVER-POWERED?

Yesh.

Maria in NItM is an overpowered (read: BROKEN) character in an already ridiculously easy game, but the variety of her attacks and just overall craziness of it makes it worth it.

I mean, the game is already boring as hell once you reach the 50-60 level mark as Alucard. You may as well be able to spam through the castle in funky style with Maria. I also prefer the spirit gun attack to the doves. It's more aesthetically pleasing to my eyes, and if she's such a spiritual powerhouse why would she be throwing birds at people?

As much absurd it might sound's, i vote for Sonia, because i believe she is the most misunderstand character, because of castlevania legends. I believe that if we were able to get some time her resurrection cancelled design, that she would kick ass!!

I too agree with Dark Nemesis. Sonia iswas the mother of the Belmont clan, and I wouldn't mind seeing her in some form again.

She deserves another chance

Do you think IGA would have been as quick to retcon Sonia if Resurrection had come to fruition?
Title: Re: Best PLAYABLE CV female
Post by: Kale on August 01, 2008, 01:45:15 AM
I was pretty excited for Resurrection, but the story seemed pretty lame. Renegade Belmont and summoning another belmont through time? >.> I guess its not that out there in comparison to rest of the stories, if COD is still canon, which it still is.

I believe Sonia should get a 2nd chance but I doubt Resurrection would have made a better image for her.

I used resurrection as an example. All i wanted to say is that IGA must give a 2nd chance to Sonia!!

if she looked like this
(http://serio.piiym-net.com/image/soniahunter.jpg)
then it'd be fine. i wasn't too much for the "cheap slut" outfit she had in legends/final resurrection design.

is the decision in this topic supposed to be made from gameplay or what?

either way, gameplay wise, as well as character wise carrie. she just fits into the game she was put into perfectly unlike some other characters such as rondo maria, entire pork cast etc who would do better in other animu games, not castlevania.

I like the other design of Sonia better. That skirt on her doesn't mesh well.... maybe if it were brown like her cloak...

I agree.  Besides, throwing animals seems a little childish, which is why I was disappointed when DXC came out with the remaster SotN.  I mean in that version, Maria had the same moves as RoB.  To be honest, the moves from NitM would have suited her better.  Of course, she would've had to be weakened but still.  I mean in SotN/NitM she is 17 years old.  You would think that she would have more advanced skills after five years.  She still uses the animals, just in a different way.  Instead of throwing the animals, she seems to channel their power to use magical attacks.  Definitely, more appropriate for a 17 year old.

in ooe richter will be an alternate mode and will be using laser guns, power armor and a jetpack. those moves would suit him so much better than that silly bondage s&m whip. ::)

Wait this is because of the charged attack?  'cuz Carrie has it too...

Samus also had it so when you put MetroidVania/Castleroid, that could be potentiallyl part of it.

Seems to me that if she was that good with animals before, that she'd only be better with them at 17. Maria's personality also doesn't seem like the type to go learning a bunch of martial arts either.

But then again, maybe after her first (failed) trek she really knew what she was up against. And she IS realted to the Belnades.

What really breaks NitM Maria is her triple jump, because she can dodge everything in the game with it (except Galamoth).

Well, as I said before, just throwing animals seems a little childish.  It shouldn't be surprising that her skills become more advanced and more like that of an adult.  Can you really say that an adult would attack just by throwing animals?  I don't think so.

no she isn't. she's related to the belmonts, like the morrises or reinhardt.

I know that's what it says, but how else she got her magic powers? You don't see the Belmont's throwing fireballs and possessing animals. Juste has to use books for instance.

If Sonia was canon it would make more sense.

But the Belmont and Belnades bloodline is mixed because of Sypha and Trevor, right?

the fireballs part is not canon, just like saturn nitm. as far as i know canonically she uses the help of 4 chinese gods she summoned and befriended.

plus trevor+sypha magic boost happened in late 1400s, and since then 300 years passed, so one of the side belmont families could marry into a magician family. the source of the last name renard (larned goddammit, renard sounds like retard) could be some other magician family.

She's pretty badass too. She has Burning Mode and the soul weapons and she can walk while crouching.

Too bad aspects of her game are broken though.

Yea I know...but still, its rediculous, seeing some of these armors in video games. Have you see the warrior armor in guild wars? One of them, for no apparent reason, is fully armored but with a GIANT hole showing her cleavage. Its like a sign saying "stab here."

Its stupid armor design!

It's not about being realistic with it: it's about making it look good -- giving the character unique appeal.

It's nice when it does both though.

No. CV could use more ninjas and pirates.... and m-moxy.

Then we could all be like when someone asks, "what's so special about Castlevania", "well haven't ya heard? It's got Moxy!"

And they'd be speechless with awe.

True story.
