What other things Castlevania should explore in 2009 ? like
maybe
A new Comic Book ? , A new TV Series or Direct to Video.
-
I think there was a comic book before. I think it was advertized at the back of Dawn's manual thinggy.
-
Well, I heard there is going to be some manga released next month in the US that fills in some points in CoD. I would love to see a Cv anime series, but I doubt that one will ever be made. I mean how do you make a show based on a video game that takes place over such a long expanse of time. I mean the only idea that I have is to make a series about Soma, but that would get old fast. Then again, there could be a few anime movies based off of a few games. For example: SotN, DoS, etc. Also, if they don't make a game of it, they could make an animated movie of the 1999 battle.
Anyway, I can't wait for the CoD manga.

Other way around. :P
Anyway, I want more collectibles. Big packages and stuff like that. Posters too, available for sale in stores and such.
-
An art book that contains every single piece of Castlevania illustrative art ever made.
Also, a soundtrack that has all the main themes (usually first level) from each CV, remixed.
Other than that, stick to the games please.
-
More NECA figures. The release of the Dracula's Curse animated movie. A good artbook would be awesome as antrax said.
-
In Reply To #6
You can't be serious! Those Neca ones sucked big time.
-
In Reply To #7
They haven;t even had a full release yet, the factory screwed up so they were recalled, and even still a lot of them were beautiful. they were more true to the characters than almost any other figures for anything. if you think they were terrible, you are ridiculous.
They looked just like 3-D versions of their artwork.
-
They were ugly as heck. I didn't hear about them messing up though. But I do remember reading that Neca won't do anymore Castlevania.
-
In Reply To #9
There has not been a full release, the sales at full release will determine that. The full release will be this coming september, and do you have any of them? They are not ugly at all.
I managed to snag a Simon from the initial release, it has some flaws yes, but even the messed up Simon is much better than most figures. I just customized my Simon to high hell. I have another full set on pre-order for when they do get the release.
-
In Reply To #10
No, I do not have them. I saw pictures, and they were too damn ugly to even want to own. I don't know when the full release or whatnot is out, but I do remember that they were aked if they will continue with Castlevania (as in get another license to do more figures) and they said no, and that they were too disappointed in the sales as the reason.
-
In Reply To #11
They said they don't know. They never referenced sales because the full release never happened. They won't knwo the sale until september.
And how is this ugly?
(https://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv181%2FJerkofwonder%2FAlucard1.jpg&hash=2192629fe341f400f30e48c469fd066783a3e66c)
-
How's what ugly? did you put an image there? Cuz I don't see anything. I think its ugly.
Okay, so they didn't say they won't visit it again, but they did say "no news on more Castlevania - I don
-
I just customized my Simon to high hell.
Show us a photo!
But from what I've seen, I'm not too crazy about the figures. They looked better when they weren't painted, IMO. I hate Dracula's "arghh i'm a vampire" facial expression.
I might get Alucard in the near future, though.
-
In Reply To #14
I will, but I am in Colombia right now, it is all the way back in Florida. There are two Dracula's one with oper mouth, one with closed.
Fixed the image.
-
In Reply To #15
I still can't see the image ???
-
Fixed.
-
How is that not ugly?
-
Eh... it's better than I was expecting, but it's still pretty ugly. It looks like Alucard is suffering from full on vampirism.
He needs blood.
-
Whether or not ugly is completely subjective. There's absolutely no ground for discussion there.
-
In Reply To #18
Ok... well if you're just gonna play the never admit I'm wrong game whatever. Have you ever seen figures? This looks better than 99% of them. What more did you want?
-
In Reply To #19
What does this even mean? Alucard has been paper white in most of his appearances.
-
His face looks horrid here. The costume is pretty accurate though.
-
In Reply To #7
Thank you. We need Japanese quality figures. Not 4 horsemen junk.
-
Btw the free 8 bit style Simon Belmont figure I got with my DXC preorder beats the shit out of those Neca ones.
-
What I'd like to see in 2009?
Castlevania: Musical on Ice
Now you can't say that's necessarily a bad idea.
-
In Reply To #26
I most certainly can.
-
Meh, I'd see it. I'd actually prefer a live, touring orchestral concert perform many new and old CV tunes. Now, if Michiru Yamane conducted it... that would be awesome!
-
In Reply To #26
If they were to make that then I would like to see the dude that played Drac in Van Helsing in it :o
-
Oh! Here's one: to commemorate Castelvania for 2009, I would like IGA to step down.
-
When Castlevania has 1000 songs total, there should be a 24 hour concert of 1000 (shortened I guess to compensate) songs.
-
In Reply To #31
What are we up to anyway, now?
-
In Reply To #31
Now that I would definitely love!
-
In Reply To #31
Your sig is awesome. Especially in light of the hangings in the other sigs.
Anyway, maybe Castlevania game design contest!
-
Yeah, I WISH Jon and Charlotte were that cute and likable in the game :(
-
In Reply To #29
Richard "MY CHEEL-DLREN LIEVE" Roxburgh? :P
Anyway, the concert sounds good.

I like this idea a lot. I'd actually get off my ass and pay to see that. XD
I'd like:
1. The Castlevania movie. And it DOESN'T suck.
2. 2D Castlevania game on the Wii that isn't a Wii Ware game (Since Wario Shake can get away with it...)
3. A complete artbook with storylines and little known information about the games and characters. (Like the left out parts for CV3 and tidbits of LoI we didn't get but the Japanese did. :sobs:)
4. Castlevania 3 's soundtrack remade. XD
-
4. Castlevania 3 's soundtrack remade. XD
How about the entire game remade?
-
Why, yeas. A musical would totally rock.
-
For 2009 I would like IGA to retcon HoD before he steps down.
-
In Reply To #40
not before he retcons pork. but seeing as they're both his games there's little chance that'll happen, so wait till someone new enters and tries to alter the timeline again to suit his needs. :o
-
In Reply To #40
I don't understand... what is so bad about HoD?
-
Storyline-wise, it clarifies and brings CVII together with the Dracula X games, like SotN bound CVIII with RoB. So yeah, it's really non-sensical to have it retconnned.

My point is we could fill that link in with a better game :P
-
Uh, I find that game to be quite good.
Unless you're proposing to refill the entire timeline with 'better' games.
-
Nope: just HoD and PoR :P
-
In Reply To #46
No point.
-
I would like to see Ayami Kojima make an artbook.
Brand new artworks for already released games. Some new illustrations of Juste or Soma etc.
-
In Reply To #47
1/10, but i can see others rage harder at the troll attempt.
-
I want the movies, preferably at least one with Trevor in it.
I want novels based on the series.
More NECA figures (Leon, Trevor, Walter...).
-
I want the OoE artist to put out a deluxe edition book of all his work for Ecclesia.
-
In Reply To #47
CoTM got higher reviews than HoD, and I think AoS too overall, not 100% on that one though.
-
In Reply To #51
Oh yeah. And I want artworks for all the previous CVs from him/her too. Btw, does anyone actually know the name of the OoE-artist?

Masaki-san, or something like that.

The 'board critic' always fails hard, Serio. But I see I was able to get under your skin by insulting KCEK, so my work here is done. ;)
-
In Reply To #55
Yeah except you shouldn't be attempting things like that at all...
This isn't a fishing pond where you can come and 'catch' people when you're bored and want some lulz.
-
In Reply To #55
1/10 means your troll attempt failed to make me rage totally. i gave you +1 for effort. :o

In Reply To #56
Please. Asmodon wasn't trolling or fishing, he was responding to snarky dismissal of one of his favorite 'Vanias. "Trolling" doesn't just extend to people who summarily impugn Circle of the Moon or the N64 games. Flaming HoD and PoR, while more generally accepted around this community, is still flaming, and you can't blame fans of those games for returning the favor (at least, not anymore than you can blame the posters who extended the 'courtesy' in the first place).
As for the topic at hand, I'll be happy if Stylin' Online can just manage to finally get, and keep for more than a week or so, a Simon Belmont "Whip it!" shirt in stock:
http://www.stylinonline.com/tscastlevaniawhipit.html
Some new figures, from NECA or whoever else is willing to take the chance on them, would be nice. But I'm not holding my breath. The best scenario I can see for this would be a smaller company doing a very limited-run series of maquettes.
-
trolling = posting a message intended to disrupt the flow of the topic, usually to cause people to "rage" or otherwise voice their displeasure at what was just posted, usually derailing the topic from its original purpose, just so that you know. :o :o :o
-
In Reply To #59
Right. And if that definition extends to Asmodon, it would also extend to the comments he was reacting to. Unless proposals of ret-coning HoD and PoR are on-topic and not meant to offend anybody and ret-coning CoTM isn't.
-
Who's Asmodon ?

Fixed. ;)
No but really, I would adore a remake of Castlevania 3. That's my all time favorite game and it would be awesome. Or a special edition version of the music for the series.
-
I don't think you can have a conversation about the future of CV without talking about how IGA should be doing better, if you're one who wishes for your favorite series to thrive, and to do this these days it needs to go 3D. And he has failed at attempting it twice (he has admitted it), and here likely comes the third one.... :(
What you call "IGA-bashing" is totally within the confines of this topic's question.
-

No offense, but most of the time, you don't talk about how he could be 'doing better', your always making 'jokes' (and I use the term loosely) about how he should 'step down'. And this isn't nearly the first topic you've done that in and some of which had absolutely nothing to do with IGA at all.
It is in the confines of this topic, certainly, but considering you seem to do it in (overexggeration!) every other topic too, it kinda gets old. It'd be like a fanboy of his constantly praising the ground he walks on just because he's IGA in ever topic, which (IMO) can be just as annoying.
-
Speaking of that, I'd like to see IGA in some form of bright colors. Like yellow. With his hair looking unkempt and crazy again. Or a Hawaiian shirt that has yellow in it with his hair looking crazy. In a mugshot. Yeah...
But with him taking interest in 8-Bit, I can say I would love to see a old school Castlevania next year, much like Megaman is doing. Pits, medusa smaking you right as your trying to jump, knocking you into a bit. Slow moving Belmonts that pimp strut. Oh yeah. That's gotta happen.
-
Yeah, I do want IGA to step down; this is no joke. I'm dead serious. And I am not the only one serious about this.
If we're going to see the series grow we need fresh ideas, and he seems to be out of them. He seems incapable at breaking the 3D barrier and he's more or less rehashing SotN over and over, now with AoS mechanics. If it's Konami's fault, well we don't know, but I have to point the blame at someone -- something -- more palpable, and IGA claims he's the head of the series, so that's where I'm pointing the finger. Also since he admitted that the 3D games' lackluster design is his doing, I'm definitely pointing the finger for that.
From what he's revealed about his personality, he's deathly afraid of criticism, too. This means he's afraid to change things lest he be "yelled" at and so he tends not to change much actually. And he's right, he will get yelled at for change; it's evident with Judgment. But he has to learn to take it, beause you can't make everyone happy -- it's impossible.
And yeah, Judgment might be a different idea, but it was bred more from Koji Igarashi's worries about fatigue with long sessions of the Wii-mote than that he actually wanted to make this game, or at least this is what he hints at. Konami forced him to do a Wii game because the system is successfully hot and this is what he came up with. And even if Judgment succeeds and forms it's own sub-series, it won't do anything to alleviate the general creative slump the main series is experiencing.
Even with Ecclesia, we see rehashed ideas everywhere. How long can the series go on this way?
The good news is, we're getting THREE Cv-related games this year. That's the most we've gotten in a single year in a long time (actually I'm not sure we've ever been given 3 in a year). This tells me that Konami is finally putting some financial "umph" behind this deserved series, and whoever they decide to head it's future should have an easier time.
I tell you what -- I'll give him one last shot. But, if IGA's next 3D game (I'm not counting Judgment)fails to bring the series into the third-dimension proper, I want him out. SOMEONE has to do this right. It is such a crucial share of the game market. And as many problems as the CV64's had (and believe me here when I say I used to despise them), they came a lot closer to capturing what makes a Castlevania game, a Castlevania game. With the technology nowadays, a similar KCEK approach could prove very, very awesome. And mixing those ideas with the action ideas IGA's team has come up with, would be PERFECT.
My eyes/ears are on more info about the arcade game. In essence, it's an experiment with bringing CV into first-person. The success of this could pave the way for bigger ideas for the next 3D game.
So, what do I really want for 2009? I want Castlevania to SUCCEED; like it's never done before. I want to see the series finally GROW past SotN. I want Konami and even IGA to prove me wrong. With three games on the way it certainly has potential to raise more awareness about itself, but there's really not too much to go on right now to say that anything big is gonna change (read:in a good way). Ok so maybe this wish might fit better with 2010, but the series needs to see healthy change, and soon.
-
Wow, this exploded needlessly.
I mentioned something and then I was PM'd about it by the respective parties. The situation was resolved.
No need to blow it out of proportion.
I think people's attitudes boil a little easier during the summer. We tolerate many of the jokes here and there because I think that we're better than the GameFAQs forums (which block and ban and edit topics here and right). While some of the barbs are a bit harsher and it does get annoying after continued usage of them (at which point Moderation steps in), overall I think a reasonably free exchange happens here, even if it upsets people.
Usually talk of retcon, etc. brings this about.
-
I'd like to see them open up the gates of darkness and revive the dark lord to let us all try our hand at taking him down.
o_O
As we've seen before, you don't NEEEEEED the whip, though a holy weapon sure would be nice....
Just grab a pocket knife, crucifix, and hope maybe you've got a cool power. That or wait for someone to come along and play a part like selling stuff.

silly rabbit, you need to kill monsters to level up. you get 0 xp from humans, they're only good for item drops which you can sell for gold.

Dude, that's like levelling at zombies in CV. Well, in HoD it makes sense, since at a certain level you only get 1ep for each kill, no matter which enemy, which makes reaching max lvl like... impossible unless you tape your B-button and let Juste stand near zombies, having the spinning stone equipped.
Try cleaning up. By doing that I got some rare items like old socks and a cool Eva01-action figure.
-
All I get when I clean up are strangely kinky things, like hand-cuffs and whips...
Wait a minute...
WHIPS!
I SHOULD clean my room more often!
Thanks for the tip.

A paper cow that realistically eats grass?
"Eat" is describing the action of a plural noun. THEY eat. Not HE eat.
"Eats" is for singular.
And now you know, and knowing is 1/16th the battle.

Not necessarily. Lets say that it's in the vain of CV1...
