We all know Super Castlevania IV is an amazing game. Probably one of the best Super Nintendo games ever made. I play through it at least once a month. Even right now, I'm listening to the tune that plays while you're going to/fighting Dracula.
That said, I wish the game was a bit more challenging, as I can beat it without losing a single life (EXCEPT FOR THE RARE OCCASIONS ON THE LAST PART OF THE FRANKENSTEIN STAGE). Anyway, I think someone should make a hack that increases the difficulty of the game!

The game is a bit too easy sometimes, due to Simon's ability to whip through platforms and damge things.

O_0
...easy?!
I find SCV4 one of the most difficult games I've ever played!! :o
-
Well, if you play through it that often, no wonder it's easy. o_O
I play through it about once or twice a year and get frustrated at either the treasury or dungeon/sewer stages.

I actually think CV4 is a bit on the easy side too. The last few stages can be rather challenging though, at least the one with the collapsing stairs where "Beginning" is playing in the background and the spiky ball/disc/thing is chasing you... I will NEVER be good at stages where you're chased by stuff that kill you in one hit. Like Stage 2 in that Indiana Jones game on the SNES. Or the godawful Gambit stage in Spiderman & X-men. Or the very first bossfight in Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament on the GBA (which isn't too hard really but it's still very stressful and takes away all the fun) :( Being chased by stuff is actually worse than escort missions. :(

I used to played it almost every day and i was get to the point where i was able to finish it from the start to the end without losing a single life and even kill Dracula without getting hit.
I wouldn't say that the game is very easy, but it's not also very challenging. Even when you finish it and start from the start with more enemies and the enemies having more energy, still the game is easy.

The important thing is it remains very fun despite it.

oh hell yes. That's the only part of the game I find difficult. because it's so damn cheap and simon won't always land on the next set of stairs and keep climbing sometimes (least when I play) he just pauses for a second before resuming his trek and the stair your on ends up collapsing and you die only to start it all over again. >:(

And by the way the spiky thing is called a chakram. It's pretty silly looking though.
And yeah that stage is hard, if not annoying.
-
'Vania 4 is still the only Castlevania I can one life.
the dungeon is the most annoying stage for me though. and the artwork is so dull in there too..

I also don't much like that music in the dungeon :|

I think Castlevania IV is one of the easier ones as well. It's MUCH easier compared to Castlevania V. Castlevania IV is probably easier because Simon has so many moves. You can whip in any direction, change direction in mid-air as you jump, you can walk forward while staying down.
I think the real challenge comes near the last stages, especially in the tower where the big.. round.. wheel comes chasing you XD
-
Why does everyone keep mentioning that stage?
As long as you land your jumps right on the steps it's just as easy as some of the other levels... now... moonwalking backwards up that level is HAAAAARRRRD
-
Have anyone tried playing it while holding the controller with your arms crossed? So that your right hand holds the controllers left side and vice verse. That should increase the challenge xD
Or you could cover the monitor with jam! Instead of looking for a hack you should raise the challenge by doing something creative like this :]
-
Actually you can just use a Game Genie to increase the damage you take from Shots...
...or use a Password to start on the 2nd Loop, at which the enemies hurt a lot harder.
If the problem is the enemy placement/AI, you can use GameGenie to make the projectiles thrown at you faster... though I'm not certain what variable one would hack for that, heh.
Try playing around with GameGenie/GameShark codes that increase certain attributes.

Loop 2 is still easy for me. :(
-
I don't think I ever played loop 2.
-
I think loop 2 only makes the enemies outside the castle harder? once you're inside the second half of the game is just as easy? isnt it?.... it's been a long time but I always found loop 2 easy as well.

You're partially right. While this is true, the enemies also move a bit faster than they did on Loop1. This is especially true for area monsters like MedusaHeads and Bats.
