This has been taken from Gonintendo!!
Our friends at Revogamers had a chance to sit down with the vampire hunter himself, Koji Igarshi. He had a few interesting things to say, some of which I will share with you below.
- Igarashi and his team would have loved to utilize the MotionPlus for Judgment, because it would have made work easier!
- there could be more Castlevania spin-offs, based on how Judgment sells
- Igarashi considers Symphony of the Night a spin-off for him. It was his first Castlevania title, but he continued creating games in that style because of the positive fan/press reaction
- Once again, Igarashi is still considering a retro Castlevania title, but wouldn

Ugh.. I really feel like Castlevania is being dilluted by all this. OoE, Judgement, the radio drama, the CoD comic, the new arcade cabinett thingie. It's ok to go in a new directions every now and then, but it just feels like they're trying to milk every cent out of the franchise to me.
I realize some people might actually like some of the above mentioned stuff, I respect that, just leaves a sour taste in my mouth though.
(Not to mention two movies which I don't have alot of faith in).
THOUGH, an oldschool CV title sounds awsome though.
-
Yeah, I wonder why some people even bother posting on this board if they hate everything CV has to offer.
The retro cv is bound to happen.
-
I'd love to see a retro Castlevania a la Mega Man 9.
-
Im going to have to agree with Crisis.

Easier and better, i must say, you just have to take a look to the Sword Fighting minigame at Wii Sports Resort, is pure 1:1, the best sword fighting control ever.

If that means a CastleVania Judgement 2 with 1:1 controls i'll buy every copy of the US and EUR versions.

TAKE THAT SYMPHONYTARDS!!!

That's kind of rash to say. I LOVE the Castlevania games, I own almost all of them (not roms or emulation mind you). I also adore the music, and I've been a big defender of Iga.
But to me, this is kind of like getting a Gandalf in a happy meal, it's just out of place.

If so, would you mail me one? There's no way I'm paying for that crummy-looking game, but the fact that it's Castlevania kind of makes me wanna have it.
-
judgement could become its own side series, but truth is castlevania has to branch off its running out of time slots to fill, unless you want to reboot the continuity, like transformers and others have done.
-
They could just rewrite the story with somethign better.
-
Lol. He considers it a spin-off?
And yet he's based every consecutive outing after it... on it in some way. Richter's basically in every game, and Alucard's made numerous appearances, and he hasn't changed the formula since.
Is he telling us he's been creating games off of a spin-off all these years?
Are you sure that's translated right?
One could say SotN was a spin-off from the main old formula, but once IGA was put in charge of KCET, it was all but shoved down our throats as main canon.

Richter is only in 5 games, and 2 of them are remakes. Alucard is in 3 games.

And that's what he said.

This is what I would like done personally. Not that I really have anything against Iga's storytelling, but I think the series could do with a good reboot. Keep the main cast, Dracula (not Mathias), The Belmonts (sans Morris', even though I adore Bloodlines), Belnades and Alucard.
Then do something new with the storyline, also forego the 100 year rule. Maybe we'd see more games like CotM and the N64 games, I for one would find that interesting.

I hope we get a Dating Sim. Nuff said...

ONLY 5? Come on, man. That's a lot. And to be honest, he was in 6, with 3 being remakes. And Alucard has been in more than 3 games. Castlevania 3, SotN, AoS, DoS, and even though it was retconned, Legends.

AoS doesn't count because he was in disguise the whole game, he was barely seen, and he wasn't playable. He wasn't playable in Legends either.
-
Konami should not reboot the plot unless the new ideas they come up with are good enough for a reboot.

yeah well, seeing what kind of cast cv has, i would imagine it to work out very differently from what you'd want.
as in reversed. you play as maria or something and try to get one of the many guys in the series. :o
lol
-
Well IGA did first work on Tokimeki Memorial. ;D
-
That explains all the grinding. :U

works for me, that dracula battle makes the absolute least sense. should have ended with shaft if it were to stay canon. plus if alucard could take drac by himself, why would he have bothered to team with trevor, grant, and sypha? after going through curse of darkness recently, at least it makes sense that hector fought, and beat him because he wasn't anywhere near complete. you're not gonna take a full powered drac with the same/another dark power, and he's not going to be full power just a few years after being wrecked by a belmont.

OR the point of the game could be to get as many guys as possible. The more guys, the higher score. Let's call the game Castleslutia!

Iga wouldn't seclude a game to one gender. You would choose to be either a male or female character from the beginning, thus determining who your dating options were. Unless, you wanted some Yaoi/Yuri, you could choose that as an option... (I would absolutely try the latter)

Castlevania dating sim.....that shit needs to not happen.....I'll take any other spin off before that. Castlevania Football, I'll take. Castlevania puzzle game...ok....Hell, as much as I hate the idea I'd take a CV RPG before that

It would be a Sim Date/RPG.... I loved the idea myself, but... oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait for one of those hentai-ridden flash games to pop up... :-X
-
hehe, they should have a dating game where you take the role of Hammer and try your hardest to woo Yoko.
or else you could play as Yoko and try to get Julius or Arikado to pay attention to you.
-
actually, Dawn of Sorrow could translate pretty well into a dating sim. i wouldn't be too surprised if they got a game in Japan where you got to be Soma and had to go on successful dates with Mina. but you'd lose the game if you ended up turning into the Lord of Darkness in frustration.
