Title: Minor Belmont bloodline question
Post by: gravekeeper on August 28, 2008, 04:47:51 PM
I was thinking the other day about how the Belmonts are related to each other. Now I'm not really sure which of the following characters that are official and which ones that have been "removed" from the bloodline, being considered as spin-off characters.

Anyway, I've heard that Christopher is Simon's great-grandfather, and that Trevor is Simons grandfather. This would mean that Christopher is Trevors grandfather, correct? If Christopher is Trevors grandfather, and Sonia is Trevors mother, then that would mean that Sonia is Christophers daughter? And Christopher had a son name Soleiyu, so is he Sonias brother? Thus Soleiyu being Trevors uncle?

Is this actually the way it is? Or has Konami "removed" some of these characters from the official storyline, for example Sonia?

Forgive me if this is a pointless question to ask

Sonia is taken out of the belmont family tree

it depends which timeline you pay attention to.  according to the Japanese version of the original NES/Famicom Castlevania game, Christopher was the ancestor of Simon Belmont.  the US for a time said that Christopher was Simon's grandson (probably because the game was released after the NES game and neither US manuals for Castlevania Adventure or Castlevania I made any mention of Christopher), but this has been cleared up to be in line with the Japanese version.  the US version of Dracula's Curse also indicate that Trevor was Simon's grandfather (not sure what the japanese said).  this has been cleared up so that Trevor is now actually Christopher's grandfather or great grandfather, and more like Simon's great great great grandfather.  per Iga's prefered timeline (and the one that came as a pre-order bonus for Portrait of Ruin), Trevor's game took place in the 1490s, Christopher's in the 1590's, and Simon's in the 1690s.  and yeah, Sonia has been removed from the timeline.

*head explodes*

Whoa whoa, lets take a few steps back

Here is the timeline, I'm sure you can connect the dots:
1094 - Leon
1450 - Sonia (retconned)
1476 - Trevor
1576 - Christopher
1691 - Simon

Juste is Simon's grandchild, then comes Richter, etc.

Simon's Juste's grandfather.

Christopher, I'm not sure. It depends. Christopher could be Simon's Great Grandfather, or Great Great Grandfather. Trevor comes before Christopher(a century before).

It depends how many generations you can fit per century. If you go by Juste's relation to Simon(Simon to Juste would equal 3 generations in a little more than a half a century, you could probably fit 4 or 5 generations per century. That means Juste could be Richter's Grandfather.

Atleast 3, a century, and as many as hmm... I guess 6 or 7 is possible too. Back then the consent age wasn't 18.

Her game/quest was taken out of the timeline. That doesn't necessarily mean she was removed from existence entirely.

I agree and that's only iga's so called "official" timeline. I think removing it was just lazy why not mold it to fit what he would prefer instead? Yeah it would take some time and effort but straight up removing a game that's been out for 10 years is kinda a shitty thing to do. The others were meant to be side stories or "gaidens" if you will, sonia's wasn't and was a first glimpse at Ralph's/Trevor's mom.

sonia still exists. not in the main timeline where simon and trevor are, but in an alternate one, where stuff seems to have gone differently. i mean, she kills dracula, who is still very much alive during cv3. she meets alucard, who shouldn't be born because he's a teenager in cv3, and his mother died young 20 years after legends' date.

then they also tried to prove she found the subweapons around, but they were also in loi, which, while being made after it is still part of the main timeline while legends isn't anymore.

hence, alternate dimension.

if you really need an official timeline, look for translation of the one by iga.

this one is usa-konami made without iga's approval. but at least it keeps sonia out. :D :P

IGA's official timeline is VERY simple:

1094: Lament of Innocence
1476: CV3- Dracula's Curse
1479: Curse of Darkness
1576: CV Adventure
1591: CV Belmont's Revenge
1691: Castlevania
1698: CV2- Simon's Quest
1748: Harmony of Dissonance
1792: Rondo of Blood
1797: Symphony of the Night
1917: CV Bloodlines
1944: Portrait of Ruin
2035: Aria of Sorrow
2036: Dawn of Sorrow

And you can toss in Order of Ecclesia into that timeline whenever they give us the actual date it takes place.

Note, I listed the games only. Other notable events occuring in that timeline are:

1470s: Lisa is killed and Dracula starts his war on Humanity.
1796: Richter disappears. Maria venturs off to find him.
1897: Events of Bram Stoker's Dracula.
1999: Events of the Demon Castle War.

Possibly the SotN Radio Drama will also fit in there in the late 1790s to the early 1800s.

SotN Radio Drama is one Year later of the original SotN.

Again with the "Trevor is Sonia's son" nonsense. It's retarded how fan speculation and shipping is being taken as fact.

If Sonia is in the timeline, and she's a belmont, who else would be Trevor's mother? Not to mention that in Sonia's ending it mentions her having an heir to combat Dracula when he returns or something like that.

Of course if she isn't in the timeline, then it doesn't matter who his mother is, because she isn't even in the timeline, so there was no mention of his mother period. For all you know, Trevor's mother could be a woman named Sonia.

In this case the real name of Trevor is:

Trevor Farenheist Belmont.

But Trevor is not the son of Alucard, he is the son of one... woodcutter? or Lumberjarck? (arggh... my english is too bad).

trevor's real mother's name was brunhilda. :D :o

but well, trevor belongs to the main reality, sonia to the side/alternate one. her game contradicts few (some vital) parts in cv3, so more than likely it simply doesn't happen in there.

for all we know, in the alternate reality with sonia and co the belmonts could've been wiped out around 1500s or 1600s, and graves/baldwins took over.

1897: Events of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Although parts of it were integrated into the backstory of the series, Stoker's novel isn't really in continuity.  We know Quincey Morris killed Dracula in 1897, but he did it with the Vampire Killer, not a Bowie knife like in the novel.  And there's been no reference to other characters or events from the book.
