Title: Dracula The Medal slot machine
Post by: Reinhart77 on September 05, 2008, 05:53:10 PM
I thought I'd start a new thread for the slot machine so talk isn't mixed up with the Dracula Arcade discussion.  For previous discussions on this game, please see the following thread:

http://castlevania.classicgaming.gamespy.com/forums/index.php?topic=1347.60

At any rate, Kotei posted a link to Konami's page for this slot machine

http://www.konami.jp/products/am_dracula_medal/index.html

Here's a google translate link to one of the pages found at that site.

http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.konami.jp%2Fproducts%2Fam_dracula_medal%2Finfo.html&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=ja&tl=en

It looks like the slot game has some interesting Castlevania mechanics to it.  A battle between Richter and an enemy appears overlayed on top of the slots and their fight is acted out as certain events happen on the slot game.  Whenever a wild appears, you strike the enemy with the whip.  I think that whenever you defeat an enemy, you gain hearts.  When you get enough hearts or something, you enter a "Boss Rush" and fight a series of bosses until you face Dracula.  You can use subweapons against the bosses, perhaps using hearts.

It looks like you can fight with Maria as well, check out the Maria's dragon item crash attack on the Wyvern in the picture in the lower right corner.

There's also some kind of sound collection mode in the game.  Whenever you beat a boss, you can gain a song you can change the background music play.  It's probably all music straight from Dracula X Chronicles.

Yeah, one could blow a lot of cash trying to defeat Dracula in this game.  I suppose it's not entirely out of the realm of possibilities that they might add this game as a bonus of a future normal game one of these years.

This is an arcade game, no one is going to own it, so that means no personal info, customization, or online play. This looks like crap already.

the music is probably all taken straight from Dracula X Chronicles, but it's possible it might have some original music.

That is by no means true. I'm annoyed by Simon's Quest, CV Adventure, and Belmont's Revenge, and I absolutely HATE Super Castlevania IV. This "slot machine" looks ridiculous.

Whaaaaaaat? And you call yourself a Castlevania fan???? It shows that you've only been introduced to the series within the past few years. I can't believe you would call those games terrible, and consider CVIV the worst in the series. Utter blasphemy. :o u r teh suk!

As for your "no online play" comment simply because it's an arcade game... You should realize that there has been score-keeping and online play in arcade games. I believe you use a special card that you insert when you play.

Anyway, slot machines? Seriously? That's not a video game. BO-RING!

Just Because I have an opinion against a few of the earlier games makes me a noob? I love all the games surrounding those, I just don't like those particular ones. And no, I don't just love all the recent ones. PoR bores me, DoS = the same, and yadda yadda yadda.

But who in their right mind dislikes Castlevania IV (which I consider to be the best in the series)? No one. :o Thus, you are a crazy person. :)

I was wondering what other video games they have made slot machines for.  I'm not in Casinos very often, but every now and then I might spend $5 in one.  The basic setup for the Castlevania slots seems pretty standard from what I've seen, play slots for a while, then enter some kind of bonus mode.

Anyway, that's a pretty snazzy looking machine.

If youve never played and enjoyed Super Metroid you have no right to call yourself a gamer. The same could be said for CV4 too but to a lesser extent. Both are 2 of the best games the SNES had to offer and pieces of gaming history but especially Metroid.

What are you talkin about? Theres nothin stuck up about fact. Thats whats wrong with CV today. New players never even SAW the old style games much less played them. Same with the Final Fantasy series. New players come in at one of the DS games and never heard of CV before or if they did they didnt realize it. If they were lucky they started at SoTN but more and more new fans are havin to go back and play it after gettin into the series. Most of those stop at SotN and never go further back or even realize there are games farther back.

So to them CV is a bunch of pale faced guys that look like chics runnin around in poorly designed castles and they cant understand or appreciate the old titles cause to them it isnt CV.

LOL @ everyting.

And as much as I adore the above mentioned games, I think people can call themselves gamers without having played Super Metroid and Castlevania IV. Though I highly recommend people to check both games out because they're fab. But I know plenty of people who don't like Super Metroid. And there's really nothing wrong with that, they're still gamers. I mean, I think Final Fantasy 7 and Ocarina of Time are boring as fuck, and some people would argue that I can't call myself a gamer because of that. But I do anyway.  ;D

I always assumed "the Medal" was a retread through Rondo of Blood with no new storyline.  But after seeing the Pucchi slot game, which is an actual sequel to Curse of Darkness, I'm not so sure (I'm basing that assumption off the fact that Dracula is resurrected in the game).  Maybe "The Medal" has an original storyline and takes place between Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night???
