Title: Did Alucard seal his powers in the Alcarde Spear??
Post by: Reinhart77 on September 05, 2008, 11:06:25 PM
I was looking at artwork posted at the Castlevania Encyclopedia

http://www.persona-world.net/cve/por-gallery/pic_34.jpg

when I got to thinking, maybe Alucard sealed all of his powers inside of the Alcarde Spear (or Alucard Spear, if you prefer).  we know that he did seal away his powers to help prevent Dracula's return.  maybe he entrusted the spear to the Lecarde family at the same time as the Belmonts entrusted the Vampire Killer whip to the Morris family?  maybe when he has to fight Soma, he had to get his power back from the spear?

the description of the Alcarde Spear says that it is a weapon with some connection with Alucard.

maybe the audio drama will clear this up?

i feel motivated to go play some Bloodlines now.

Wouldn't it make more sense for him to seal it in his sword, though?

you have a point, since he did retrieve his sword at the same time he got his powers back in Dawn of Sorrow.

maybe he just prefers using his sword or the developers didn't feel like giving him the spear in the game?  or maybe releasing his powers destroyed the spear?

at any rate, it is interesting that at the same period of time, the Belmonts and Alucard were without the use of their power.

I don't think that the spear has anything to do with Alucard sealing his powers.  Besides, unless I'm mistaken, that spear was an item in NitM.  Anyway, why would someone seal their own powers in something.  It would make more sense to put seal on themself that prevents them from using their power.  This way the power doesn't fall into the wrong hands and if the person needs to, he/she can unseal their powers.
This is also the only way I can think of that Alucard could have regained his powers so quickly in DoS.  Then again, I don't think that he completely sealed them away because he had some power in AoS and DoS.  How else would he have been able to get around with so many monsters around and not get killed?  Besides, in AoS, he use the soul steal spell in the opening scene.
The spear just may be something that Alucard had and gave away.  Unfortunately, there is clear evidence that makes to case for one or the other.  So all we can do is speculate.

I always assumed that when he said he "sealed away his powers" he was talking about going to sleep for a long time.

Yeah, that is most likely the case.

OR you know how Alucarde has a fuckton of weapons by the end of SoTN? Well there's your connection right there. It's a weapon he used at one point.
