Those graphics look intense, even from a camera phone! I can't wait to play this. I wonder which Belmont that is on the title screen?

And that dude's right, we should be getting this for Wii instead of Castlevania: Death Note Edition  >:(

took me a while to notice, but it looks like stage 1 is a ghost ship.

I had seen a video about this game before.

The platform is Wii to my knowledge, and the gameplay style is almost exactly like that of the Soul Caliber series

Completely wrong game, bro. Your talking about judgment, which is more akin to Powerstone than Soul Caliber

lol @ n00b

Anyway, great find. This game looks really cool. I hope it comes to Wii someday, they'd be fools not to port it. The graphics do however look a bit too advanced perhaps... they could always downgrade them a little though.

Even though I can't clearly see which Belmont that is, when I look at it the only one I can think of is Simon.

he looks like a badass version of Richter to me.  but probably not.

i wonder what Iga's role in this game is, if any at all.

This game is looking awesome!! IGA thinks that it is tired to use the wiimote as a whip, that's why he made the arcade game, because it will be a very short game. But then, what about Judgment? You want get tired swinging the wiimote for hitting your oponent or making combos or you are going just to play every day from 10-30 minutes of the game so that you want get tired? :P I believe that IGA has no excuse for this one!! >:(

Also, even if the pictures are blured, the graphics are looking awesome and i believe that this is how a true 3D future Castlevania game should look!!

If anything, if or when they do a Wii version, they can always add a few more stages to increase the length, as well as additional modes.

I'm REALLY liking the look of it. It's soooo dark and the atmosphere is creepy. And the castle, it looks like Dracula's Castle(not like the strange castle in CoD, which looked NOTHING like Dracula's Castle).

So, it seems the male character(Player 1) is a Belmont, while the female character(Player 2) is a gun-toting vampire hunter. Hmmmm...
Title: Re: A look at Castlevania The Arcade
Post by: crisis on September 30, 2008, 02:37:22 PM
The vampire hunter could be Richter, but last time I checked Richter doesn't have buckles on his pants (both the dxc version & sotn art of him). Also he doesn't have rist buckles, but the outfit still resembles Richter's. The art looks like Kojima's.

I'm trying to examine his identity by reading the character select screen, but I could only make out a few words. Vampire Hunter, and.. something "the Holy Whip". As for the girl, I could only make out "Lady". Maybe someone could raise the resolution so we could get some answers!

It's also a possibility that this game has no real story, and we'll just be controlling a nameless Belmont & slay Dracula as usual. But I hope not.

The article says that you have a choice between a generic "Vampire Hunter" and "Lady Gunner".

This is what Judgment should have looked like.  Honestly people wouldn't be complaining nearly as much if Ayami was in charge of the art for Judgment.

Post by: Reinhart77 on September 30, 2008, 10:58:22 PM
The Vampire Hunter just looks so awesomely rugged in this game.  Too bad you can't really see him in action in a game like this.

I don't know why I always think of Cornell whenever I see the Lady Gunner.  Oh yeah, now I remember, it's because the way she has her trigger hand curled up in the artwork looks like she should be brandishing claws.

Even with a next generation wii, it would be sad to convert an extra wide screen to work on a regular television set.

You've never played Resident Evil 4, have you. Superb graphics, progressive scan capability, wide aspect ratio, and the Wii version has the added benefit of being enhanced for 16:9 TVs. The Wii could very well do this arcade game a great deal of justice. Not sure exactly how the game looks or if it will in fact need to be downgraded for the Wii, but the Wii really is capable of a lot.

Post by: Thomas Belmont on October 01, 2008, 12:00:40 PM
Why does everybody think it's Richter? Doesn't even really look like him. If anything, it's probably a new Belmont.
Title: Re: A look at Castlevania The Arcade
Post by: Reinhart77 on October 01, 2008, 02:25:16 PM
Yeah, in the cell-phone pictures he doesn't look a whole lot like Richter, more like Simon actually.  That's because of the dominant color being more yellowish rather than blue.

However, if you look at the cabinet art and poster art, he looks a lot more like Richter.  That art can be found in the original thread for this game:

Awesome find!

Although I'm sure I'm completely wrong, the idea of a Belmont paired with a "shooting" female character made me think of CV:III, Trevor and Sypha. Her wand could function as a "shooting" weapon. Also there's a pirate ship in CV:III.

This game should definitely be ported soon, Either for Nintendo WII or a Next Gen Console like PS3 or 360 with Special Controls for it included with the game.

This New Castlevania game looks awesome!!

If this game can make it:

They take the game, in a completed, or nearly completed state, and send it off to select arcades. They let people play it, comment on it, see how much interest is generated, etc.

It'd be perfect for Wii, control wise. Hopefully they'll get the graphics close as well if it happens. I wonder if Konami had a Wii port in mind when they made it.
Title: Re: A look at Castlevania The Arcade
Post by: shelverton. on January 17, 2009, 11:49:44 AM

The graphics are waaaaay to advanced for the Wii though. I hope it comes to PS3 or 360 instead, with some special wiimote-like controller. Unlikely, I know.. but it would be rather sweet. But yeah, a watered down port for the Wii is the next best thing. As long as we get to play it at home. The screenshots are sweeeet!

Title: Re: A look at Castlevania The Arcade
Post by: crisis on January 17, 2009, 01:22:04 PM
They could release it for the PS3 bundled with a custom whip-cord controller similar to the one already in use, just like they did for Time Crisis 4 (however that game sucked). As stated above the graphics look too good for the Wii, they'd have to bring it down a notch quality-wise *coughcallofdutycough*.

I would like to know IGA's thoughts on this project!

What good graphics! If this was ported to the Wii like he said while maintaining these graphics, that would be a very impressive feat on Wii's part. It wouldn't suprise me however seeing how good some of Wii's games look ("The Conduit", "Madworld", and "Deadly Creatures" in particular)
Title: Re: A look at Castlevania The Arcade
Post by: Battler Ushiromiya on January 28, 2009, 08:10:21 AM
The Wii's not very powerful graphically, but if this game's graphics run on an engine as effective as Valve's Source engine, then it could very well be pulled off on the Wii.

That's highly unlikely, however. Though I woldn't terribly mind a slight graphical downgrade to play it on my Wii.

I found D.Gray-Man. >.>;;

On topic, I hope this does make it stateside. This looks positively amazing... Though I have no clue why the White Dragon is a boss...

The White Dragon has been a boss before, in Haunted Castle (free roaming like Quetzelcoatl) and Castlevania 64 (where they're bound to a pole)

But can the Wii handle it?

I believe just a form of it would suffice.

Probably not, but they could always downgrade the graphics a bit. I'm thinking Umbrella Chronicles or something like that. The gameplay is what matters anyway and it looks like this Arcadevania was made with the Wii in mind. I refuse to believe Konami won't be porting it VERY soon. I'm usually wrong though....  :-\

They have an interesting update to the Arcade game.

They have added a new playable character "Little Witch".

I don't get it.  I thought they already released this game in Japan.  But I haven't seen streams of videos of it on youtube and they keep adding things to the website.  What's going on?

Maybe they released demo machines or something. Just to see how well it did. Thats what they did with Street Fighter 4, have a few machines, then when they released some more add more to it.

Graphically, this game is just beautiful. The lookout tower level really looks incredible.

I'm wondering if they're going to release one more character for a total of 4, then make an announcement for a Wii port. 4 Player Castlevania Arcade game would be too perfect, and with all this work going into it, it would be a shame not to port it. I'd be so much more successful

That begs the question, what type of character would you like to see added to the game?

Well I'm always in favor of seeing more Axe Knights as playable characters!

We've got a whip, a gun, and a magic using character already. I don't know what else they could do for a longer ranged weapon, but my guess, if there is going to be another character it'll probably be a mysterious-like guy who uses a sword, like Alucard, or a big hulking guy. Thats what I'm expecting to see

Yes, let's leave it up to MYSTERIOUS GIRL to save us from the armies of darkness with her MAIN WEAPON.

And I thought the series was getting less generic since Portrait of Ruin.

With E3 coming up and the promise of big announcements, what do you think the chances of some Arcade news coming out?  Such as a wii edition??

If any of you have access to Nico Nico Douga, there're already plenty of gameplay videos uploaded by Jpn players. The Little Witch's ending involves a relationship with another Konami game: Tokimeki Memorial, even the music is taken from it. It looks ridiculously funny.

You have to register to be able to watch em tho, search in google for clues. :P

GRR, It's not there, I'll try again with a different account name as I may have typed my email wrong or missed a letter.

Never mind I've got an account, the lady gunner' ending is cool and the little witch ending's funny all I need to see is some vampire hunter gameplay and ending and I'll be content.

Aren't those the same videos on niconico?

If not, could you tell me what songs play on each levels or try to capture footage when the building has less people or ask if they could turn the volume up?

All the videos no niconico have too much background noise.

*edit*

Forget it. The one he's uploaded are the same videos on niconico.

Are you the original poster of the niconico ones?
How will you be able to rip the music? I can't wait for that!

I'm not the orginal poster.  :-X

I'm going to try and rip the music with tools like Soundtrack Pro or something else that can take away background noise. Ripping the music should then be a piece of cake.

Oh I don't think you'll be able to do that. But if you are really going to try, there are other videos on niconico with tremendously less background noise and clearer voices and music.
