Title: will live action Castlevania movie surpass Van Helsing?

I dunno, It would be cool if they succeeded.

I mean like, I'm sure Castlevania movie will be at least
as good as the upcoming Dragon Ball movie.  so that can't
be bad.    ;D   

but yeah it's two different flavors.   But I'm just glad they are not going with "The Forbidden Kingdom" approach where they thrust some kid from the mean streets into the fantasy world or whatever. 

so yeah chances are the CV movie will take itself seriously.

Id be great with the visual style Van Helsing had and thats it. I... tolerate... that movie simply because of the fantastic art style and costume design. Beyond that its shit.

It won't be difficult to surpass Van Helsing. The movie was horrible, only good thing is the guy who played Dracula was awesome.
