Title: Juste Belmont Shrine
Post by: Twizman on November 04, 2008, 02:04:08 AM
Juste Belmont is a great hero who defeated Dracula in 1744, and thus saved the world from certain doom.

This thread is for the lovers of Juste. Let us pay homage to a kind and courageous man. A true legend within a storied family, Juste paved the way for many of his kin. His speed and jumping were unmatched. His modifications to the Vampire Killer immense. And his use of magic - revolutionary.

Personally, since becoming hyped and going on an obsessive phase with Castlevania (leading up to OoE), Juste was a character that I was immediately attracted to.
I have grown to love him through his character art. I find his theme music romantic and euphoric. The sound and his face, together.

Juste was a wonderful, beautiful man, with a legacy that will endure into history.
Lets spread the love for a cool guy, who helped make the lives of many humans happier

Yeah, same here.

I don't really care about the bishieness of characters, may it be Juste or Alucard. But I have to agree that Juste is one of the, or maybe even the coolest looking CV char evar. I love that red cloak and the high boots.

His character design is rather admirable.  The Red Jacket and Silver hair and black shirt is a great combination.  Has been so even since the olden medieval times and the way it's set up reminds me of FF's "Red Mage" archetype.  A fighter but also a wizard.  The silver hair is a symbol of otherworldly power and magickal endowment, while the blood red jacket and black outfit suggest strength and power.

Having said that, I hate the way he handles in the game.  And, while his art is rather nice, the way it compressed into his profile picture into the GBA makes him jump from "Dabbler of the Mythical Art" directly into "Vampire".  Way too gray, in my opinion.

His sprite needs great re-designing, as in the game his 6-frame walk looks awkward.

Someday when I have time I will try to make his sprite look as good as his artwork...

Personally, I prefer Julius to Juste -- but in terms of gameplay, the Spell Fusion system is far superior to anything yet seen from sorrows' bonus hero.  I'm holding out some hope we'll see Julius using Spell Fusion in the 1999 game.

it's crazy that Juste was the first protagonist made with Iga at the helm, and, 5 games later, is the only Belmont lead in any of the original 2D titles.

Yeah, and then figure the 2 PS2 games 1 Belmont lead and 1 not --we wont count FRAUD cuz fighting games don't really have a lead --then we have the new PS3/XBOX game which looks to have alucard...

That's 8 games with only 2 Belmont leads...  Add to that OOE doesn't even have a Belmont in Bonus Mode ---sad... :-[

I bet Juste's design choice just came from the great success, that Alucard's made. They just wanted to make another Al.

The only similarities are in the face and hair, and they're still not that similar.

If you think about it --Juste is a hybrid of SotN Richter and Alucard movesets --which have since become standard.

Juste, Soma, Jonathan, and Shanoa can all ground slide, double jump, drop kick, and backdash --none of these moves were available before SotN.

One thing I really like about Juste, as far as design and appearance, is that he didn't seem like the underdog. There's an air of power and wisdom about his appearance that I've not really seen much in other Belmonts. Simon, Trevor, Christopher, Richter, Sonia, and even Leon, all seemed like underdogs. Juste, IMO, has the most commanding presence, as far as appearances go.

I fundamentally disagree with the supposed right for this thread to exist at all.

Good day, sir!

Let those who like the game like the game and voice why they like it.  No need to 'rain on parades' at all.

The hating in this forum is starting to get out of hand to the point of annoyance.

Lo. I never said I liked HoD. It pisses me off too. But still I do like Juste. Also I don't think I hate ANYTHING at all. Maybe vegetables, but they don't count, since they don't have cute eyes or anything.

How can you not like Onions!  They're delicious sauteed.  Kinda sweet and have a crispy texture.  Have you even tried them on top of White Castle Hamburgers!?  HAVE YOU!?!?

Juste is hot. And his game was excellent. It OOZES with atmosphere and personality. I'm sorry if it's not mainstream and heteroseksual and predictable enough for some of you.  ;D

(Though I agree his sprite looked absolutely ridiculous. I can't believe how they messed it up like that. The artwork was brilliant.)

OMG I hate onions!

Red onions are the DEVIL!

Ironically I can stand white onions in french onion soup though, cuz they don't taste like onions there.

I enjoyed seeing Juste cameo in PoR, and reference to Maxim via Stellar Sword  ;)
