Not exactly surprising, but neat nonetheless.

I voted for Aria of Sorrow!!

I understand the difference between Castlevania and Vampire Killer, but what's the point in listing Akumajo Dracula?

He culled the list from Wikipedia, so Akumajo Dracula is in reference to the X68000 game.

I'm not surprised that SotN is the number one favorite. That game set a standard in which all the cv's like it have fail to meet. Some have come close, but SotN is far superior. And that game is 11 years old.
I really hope that some day a CV will come out the surpasses SotN. Just imagine how great such a game would be.

Oh, please. SoTN had a host of problems that the recent games have effectively rectified, though so many people are completely blind to this. SoTN seems to be put on an unreachable pedestal by many fans, even though it really doesn't deserve it.
The game's certainly noteworty, to be sure, but it is far from being the be-all-end-all of the Castlevanias.
Also, I must point out that this little excerpt doesn't make a lick of sense:
Some have come close, but SotN is far superior.

SotN does have a lot of problems. If it weren't for CotM and PoR, it would have been my least favorite "hemorrhoidvania".

Meh. You guys are faggots. :D SOTN beats the pants off the other games of its kind. Better level designing, better graphics, better music (compositions and sound quality), better weapons (seriously, the fact that you CAN'T SLASH A SWORD DIAGONALLY DOWN pisses me off, and the upward-arch weapons of the later games are boring), and so on.

That sums it up quite nicely. SotN has too many tweaked ways to it to be outdone by any title since.
