Title: Problem with Curse of Darkness
Post by: snakes3425 on December 03, 2008, 04:08:34 PM
I bought Curse of Darkness for the Xbox, and when I went to play it I noticed that during the gameplay there doesn't seem to be any sound effects except for the music. Has anyone else had this problem or did I just buy a bad copy?

I've never heard of that, it;s been awhile since I've played it, but I don't think thats ever happened to me. I have the PS2 version, so maybe it has something to do with the Xbox version?

Try renting another copy to see if the sound works ok; if so, pull the old switch-a-roo. If not, it's probably the xbox's fault.

its probably the disk. i have the ps2 version so i dunno if the actual xbox version is suposed to be that way or not, but i really doubt it. theres probably just a scratch on the disk that makes it so it cant read the track that makes the sound play

I have both versions of the game, PS2 and xbox and they both have sound effects.  Are you options for sound effects muted by chance?  Did you check in the options?

I just examined the disk, and it's scratched

No, I bought it from GameStop's used games bin.  >:( Beleive me I've tried cleaning it and patching it and the gameplay sounds still aren't coming in clear, I'm starting to wonder if the previous owner did something to the game

given that he was the type to bring a used game back in the first place, he probably used the disc as a dildo beforehand.

Well until I find another copy, I'm stuck with the one I have.

If the game is broken Gamestop will allow you to return it.

Here's a question, are you trying to play this on an XBOX 360?

Cuz if you are, that game probably isn't fully supported for backwards compatibility, so... there ya go.

I'm using the original Xbox.

me either sounds like a problem with your box or a messed up disk. If the machine can't read the audio track it'll just play the video. This happened to me with the first crash bandicoot game back in the day when I dropped it off of the second story of a condo and tried to play it.
