Title: Best Dracula Battle
Post by: darkwzrd4 on January 05, 2009, 09:39:35 AM
Personally, I like the one in OoE, but I feel that the one in DXC was the best.

I loved OoE drac battle- I liked DoS' soma battle that can be considered drac also- but my vote is for OoE

DCX was good in how he ended it- beat him to death then open a window on his ass.

Serio, Maria's last name isn't Lanette.  It's Renard.  :p

Renard was a bad translation.

I have to say OoE. It's probably the most challenging Dracula, and he actually walks(Rugalcula with his pseudo Genocide Cutter!). :o

I agree with the walking.
This is a first for dracula.
Now I'd like to see dracula wielding some kind of sword next fight.

Why should Dracula use a sword? Not only would that be silly, but it would be very pointless due to the fact that he can use powerful magic.

I changed it to larned. it's the correct and more european sounding name, rather than retard.

and palette, ignore saner. all of his posts are failed low level troll attempts. stop falling for them like some newbie. :o

I went with bloodlines, I think it had the most consistently good drac forms. I loved all 3. CV3 was a very close second though, I just never really cared for form 2 all that much so bloodlines won out.

Simon's Quest is here but not CVIV? It was at least better than in Simon's Quest.

Really? you guys have got to be joking.

I could see the most epic finish (due to the Dominus Union), but not the most epic battle --not by a long shot.

Dracula's Egytpo-Birdman form in CV3 >>> his new Pimp Walk in OoE...  Although I really like that sadistic look on his face when he siezes Shanoa for that life steal attack.

Well I went with Curse of Darkness. Its awesome to see the classic Dracula battle done in full 3D, and it actually worked well I think. Plus, his final form in that is pretty badass looking.

This is about the best Dracula battle, not the most epic.

I agree, that'd be the equivalent of playing Doom DBZ remix.

Yeah that "red" wine is really good. oh shit cops comin'. Knew I shouldn't have hit the same "source" 8 times in a row.

I can't vote since Super Castlevania IV isn't there. The battle itself is technically disappointing (no real 2nd form), but the atmosphere and the overall feeling is unmatched in CV history. It really felt like you were fighting DRACULA. It was sooooo eerie!

Why isn't the first Castlevania included in the choices?  That was the original battle, and also one of the most challenging.

I'm gonna go with Portrait of Ruin. The Death/Dracula combo was awesome.

But it was just RoB Dracula with Death floating around and aimlessly slashing downward with his scythe. :/

Forget form 2 their bro. Way diff from Rob, it actually took a lil' concentration to take down.

form 2 was all hack and slash and sometimes casually walk away to avoid his attacks.

sometimes casually walk away to avoid his attacks.

dat's the part that took concentration, gotta pay attention, time it wrong and instantly dead.

It was done really well in CoD. It was one of the few things that game did well, a real deal sweetener.

I will add that CoD seemed to take a lot of ideas from LoD. We had human-form Dracula trying to catch ya and drink your blood (and regain life), then monster Dracula form flying off to the background to fire projectiles before returning to the foreground. Then as well, the whole premise of the game was like LoD. You are chasing your former friend and rival who shares the same type of special power (Lycanthrope/Forgemaster) through a Dracula-free Castlevania. Then in the end, Dracula gets a new body that is somehow related to the Lycanthrope/Forgemaster.

I personally like the battle with Dracula in Curse of Darkness. It's like an old classic Dracula battle, but remade in 3D very well. Sweetness.

The final battle in PoR felt like a random mess to me :( It actually felt a bit like a fan-made hack. Except it wasn't. It's not very challenging either if you know what you're doing.

Speaking of which... someone should hack, say, Castlevania 4 and put Death and Dracula side by side in the final battle. I wonder exactly how annoying that would be.

SotN, but the first fight, Richter versus Tepeş. Not the hardest, not the most inventive, but, IMFO, the most archetypal of such fights.

I cannot vote 'cuz my fave/best imo is the Circle of the Moon one with the funky background and FAST Dracula 2nd Form.

You really had to use that superjump and slide.

I enjoyed that battle a lot because it was a true challenge and really hard to beat him. I don't remember how many times it took me, but when he finally died I really felt like I had accomplished something. It's a much greater feeling, compared to beating a fairly easy boss. It's sort of a challenge itself though, making a challenging boss that's still fun to fight against. A lot of hard bosses can easily get annoying.

well, it was one of the toughest dracula battles in the recent 2d games, it was also a total sprite redesign and he finally got a whole lot of new moves.

if something, the question should be
Quote
How the fuck can anybody vote for portrait!!!???
because the dracula in it was almost a carbon copy of rondo's right up to his sprites which were rondo edits, and were it not for death and his dual attack stuff he gives to drac the battle would be about as easy and retarded as hod's. :o

You know, it actually took me a while to make that connection until you brought it up. Yeah, it does seem that both Darkness titles share more than the last two syllables of their... well, titles. It is true.

It is also true that the final battle with Drac at the conclusion of Curse was a real standout, following a very lackluster and EXTREMELY taxing ordeal to reach it (I'm talking about the whole game, not just Dracula'castle). It's a shame I had to mute most of the music though, especially during Dracula's transformation. "something-something to the Black Abyss of Death," psshht! Black abyss indeed. This number was the grating boss fight cue that could have very well sent me to the black abyss of death! My GOD, CoD had some lame-ass music. *walks away grumbling*

More like one of the best sound tracks in the entire series.

While you are off painting your nails, real men are listening to awesome rock.

CoD didn't really have all that many rock songs. The soundtrack is still awesome, though.

CoD's OSt is decent, but it's not as great as everyone says it is. Fucking drums ruin the whole thing. That crap is like musical graffiti. *puke*

I'd have to say the CV3 battle is the best. I don't think we've gotten one that good since.

question:

playing through Dracula's Curse on the VC right now.

in Dracula's final form, does the beams he shoot downward spread all out on the original NES Cart? because I don't remember seeing that in any of the youtube videos.

I think they bounce around, but I don't remember them spreading out and splitting off.
