Title: CVfan13's latest crazy scheme! This time - Sheet music!
Post by: CVfan13 on January 19, 2009, 06:28:55 AM
Before I start, I'd like to say hello again to everybody after a long period of absence from this place.

Well, anyway, as the title suggests, I tend to set entirely unrealistic and probably unachievable goals for myself, but this time, I want to actually do what I want to do. :P Now, what that is, exactly, is to create many pieces of Castlevania sheet music for piano all of what I see as the best songs in the series and print them out so I can compile them into my own book of CV sheet music. I've decided to start with one collection only for the new stuff. I'll get back to old later.

But, I'm not just going to be greedy about it: I plan to share all of it with the rest of the CV community. So, to start with, I began arranging the different parts of the score included for "Diary's Room of the Demon Castle" (otherwise known as the Study) with Aria of Sorrow's Soundtrack.

That's the midi that came along with the sheet music (I'm using a program called Muse Score, btw!). And here's the music itself(I think you have to right click and save as!):

Now, the reason I'm making this topic is to not only share with everyone and take some suggestions and what not, but I also want to ask for your help. Here's the list of what I want to do:

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
1.   Moonlight Nocturne
2.   Dracula

I just got Castlevania Circle of the moon / Concerto of the midnight sun's OST which comes with sheet music printed in the back of the booklet, but i can't read japanese so i don't know which song it is supposed to be.

also i'm sure i have other castlevania OST's with sheet music in them somewhere.

Yes, it has sheet music for Chapel of Dissonance. I've seen scans of all the other sheet music from soundtracks, so I believe the only official sheet music I don't have are the pieces from the only official score book that had everything Castlevanias 1-3, The Adventure, and Haunted Castle. However, I believe a member of this site said he would send me a full scan of the book at some point.

Thank you for your concern.  :)

Wish I knew how to read music (well fast anyway)...

...but good luck with this; sounds like a good idea.

I did a guitar tab transcription of "Out of Time" a few years back. If it'll help in terms of transferring notes to traditional staff, then here's a scan of it...

(I did a similar transcription of "Within These Castle Walls" but didn't see it on the above list)

There's also a fantastic plugin for Winamp called "NotSoFatso" that lets you listen to NES music at any tempo, as well as separate its four sound channels to more accurately document correct notes. If you're doing "most of these entirely by ear," I highly recommend it because it's an excellent tool.

Obvious bump, but I am working on transcribing sheet music from "Prelude" from CVIII. I worked it out on my axe last week, and shalt plumb it into GP as soon as I have the time spare. I know 'tisn't one of the requested songs, but I thought it bared mentioning in relation to the topic nonetheless.

It isn't? *checks* Oh, right, I changed my mind. Well, I changed my mind again.
