Title: if Castlevania was real, how many floors would the castle be?

you know, from a kinda realistic point of view?  (not counting Keep.)

It would be boring if they made it realistic :P

I'd say 4-5, it depends on what century we're talking here though.

Thats difficult, rooms in a castle are not all a uniform hight, and are we taking into account the numerous towers?

Considering a Keep is the centre and mainstay of a castle thats like saying how high is your garden fence.

Well if you think about the actual SCALE of the castle in most games (that is, the relationship between the size of the building itself vs. the size of the characters), then a real-life Castlevania would be absolutely ENORMOUS. It would probably be the biggest castle ever built.

Also, it would be a very strange design, with many different buildings & towers all connected in an unorganized fashion. It would be an architect's nightmare to design it I bet---but damn, would it be sweet if it happened.

I know I've always said that if I ever win the lottery I'm gonna build my own CV-style castle somewhere :)

I calculated that, from the bottom of the Catacombs, to the throne room of the Castle Keep, the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Castle would be as tall as New York's "Empire State Building".

Please keep in mind, however, that half of those stories would have to be underground, embedded into the castle's mountainside, so the actual 'castle' wouldn't be much taller than a 50-story building or so.

I think I misunderstood the question, I thought you meant to make Castlevania real, how many floors would it be.

If the castle were to keep its structure, say as in SotN, then yes it would be gigantic in real life. There's about a mile in length, alone, from the Entrance Halls to the Outter Wall.

It would depend on which incarnation of the castle you're talking about.  The one from SotN would be gigantic, but if it's the one from CoD, it would only be 7 floors.

One thought clicked in my head reading the "realistic" scale of these castles...Imagine how long it'd take to explore the damn thing if it was real and as huge as implied.

The Mall of America, so I've heard, takes roughly two or three days to check out every store and food court in it's massive size. Exploring a real-life Castlevania would be a nightmare come true.

If Castlevania was made in the Carpathians, 'twouldst be a safe bet to say it might well be the Carpathians!

from a historical standpoint I think it would definitely depend on which era the castle was from, considering that changes are made even to castles over the ages and that they never stay exactly the same. (repairs, expansions, etc)
but this is kind of a magical one we're talking about.

And just out of curiosity, Jorge, how did you calculate that?

nice!  well yeah the castle is a creature of chaos, so it always changes.

Something else you have to take into consideration is that Belmonts go straight for the throne-room, while the protagonists of metroidvanias always have to go every room in the castle..twice.
