Title: DX and DXC resource request
Post by: Super Waffle on March 22, 2009, 03:32:57 AM
You know how failing to avoid the ghost portrait in Stage 5 results in a unique sprite just before your character gets insta-killed?

I solved half of the problem on my own.

Now can someone with a hacked PSP or component cables or whatever get the PSP version?

Well since this is the best worst thread ever and nobody wants to help me, I'm certainly not going to post this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/tenshousouhazan/paintingvsclone.jpg).

Did you ever think that maybe no one is helping because your request isn't even feasible?

Except, er... it definitely is?

Modded PSPs have the benefit being able to use plug-in apps that will take PNG-quality screencaps mid-game.

You're not going to get a quality texture rip that way.

"Quality" isn't really much of an issue to me when the average SotN player sprite is something like 50x20 anyway.

...That... That is definitely Ribbons... And he's stolen Maria's clothes...

Not anything new, since he dresses pretty femininely normally, but...

Okay, so they share a closet. What's your point?

No point, really.

Now what were we talking about?

Oh, yes.  Can someone with DXC and a video capture card with the PSP cables or custom firmware post screenshots already?

I got nothin'.

They do have a surprising number of resources for Castlevania 64 enemy renders, though.

You know what I really hate?

When someone actually uses the effort to post and tell you that they're capable of providing exactly what you need, but then tell you they're too lazy to do it immediately afterward.

Uh. I do hope you weren't trying to get good quality screenshots of DX.

Why not?  I already explained lossless screenshots are possible with either

a) a cracked PSP with a homebrew screenshot app, or
b) an HD video capture card and the component cables for the PSP-2000.  Alternatively, I believe the new PSP-3000 can now display games with the composite cables, but that's starting to get lossy.

is decent enough.

Lossless doesn't necessarily mean good quality. Case in point: the picture you just posted.

... yes it does.  Lossless means maximum quality due a compression algorithm that doesn't omit any data.

And I only said *decent*.  As long as it doesn't look like something Retsupurae would cover, it's fine.  There's nothing particularly eye-straining or seizure-inducing about the example I posted.

I forgot to specify; lossless doesn't necessarily mean good quality rip.

I said DX; not DXC. I was referring to your Rondo screenshots.

Just asking.  If it's your taste, it's your taste. Personally, I prefer the original, low-resolution, blocky blocky pixel look when I run my emus at double-size.

He makes it seem like it's a pain to get through a few levels of Dracula X, one of the easier classic Castlevanias...
